Yuuna Akashi (明石 裕奈, Akashi Yūna) is a female midlander hyur hailing from Doma. A member of the Doman military, she is among the few Domans who does not favor the more traditional arts of swordplay, instead preferring to use captured Garlean firearms as her main means of combat. Her role in the Doman military was officially "reconnaissance in force", similar superficially to the task performed by the shinobi, but also fully capable of engaging in extended combat with the enemy should it become necessary. She fled from Doma at the same time as the majority of the refugees fleeing the Garlean extermination campaign, and has since continued in her capacity as a recon agent, scouting Eorzea for useful information to return to Lady Yugiri and the other Doman survivors.

Character

Personality

Wild and rambunctious, the primary facet of Yuuna's personality is the basic lack of capacity to be cowed by overwhelming odds. Yuuna will never back down from a fight, no matter how much she should, and gives absolutely every onze of effort to everything she does in her life. She is not, however, stupid, and rejecting fear of overwhelming odds does not mean she will senselessly engage in hopeless battles. Aside from this, she's a generally happy person, and can always be seen with an amused smirk, if not a full-on grin, on her face.

When on the battlefield, her personality is completely different. She is more than capable of crafting exceptional small-unit battle strategies on the fly, adapting to and improvising for changing circumstances, but unfortunately she is often too hyperactive to engage in much strategy beyond "put bullets into the bad guys until they fall over." Very much a battlefield leader, she is always at the forefront of any charge that she participates in.

Despite officially serving as Yuuna's retainer and page, Hotaru is treated as a friend, so much so that Yuuna dislikes it when the Raen girl defers to her in any way. Having long harbored romantic feelings for Hotaru, Yuuna had initially kept them to herself, but recent events since fleeing to Eorzea have prompted her to decide that she's better off making her feelings known rather than potentially regretting her silence later.
