Brume Rat. Renegade. Terrorist. Hooligan. Spy. Activist. Survivor. Yvesoix has been all these and more. Born in a dilapidated whorehouse long before the Calamity, he has always known the pang of hunger and the scorn of his "betters". At one time, his anger drove him to stop at nothing to see Ishgard burned to the ground and replaced with a truly equal society where all would share in Halone's bounty until he met a man who saw him as more than a rabid animal. This man cultivated his bitter destructiveness into a driving force of constructive justice and lead him on a path toward being a voice for the voiceless instead of a kicked dog lashing out at its tormentors. He taught him that revenge will not grant his people salvation. He taught him that the wise plant trees knowing they will never see them bear fruit. In short, he saved his life. Now, Yvesoix spends his time advocating for Ishgard's working class as well as leading projects to build up the Brume with the support of the few nobles who are sympathetic to his cause. Surrounded by dear friends and unlikely lovers, he seeks to fix what is broken so that all may feel Halone's grace.
Yvesoix is tall and broad shouldered with a solid build. His musculature is not chiseled like a model's but rather thick with a slight layer of body fat from years of manual labor. He looks more like a heavy weight cage figher than a dancer and moves more like one too; he walks with a long confident stride and overbearing demeanor that lends him an intimidating air.
His auburn hair is often pulled back into a loose worker's bun and he sports a short beard with mutton chops over a sharp jawline. Indeed, he possesses the typical pointed bone structure of most elezen, but his face is rectangular and rugged rather than slender and graceful. Unlike many, his chest, arms, and legs sport a wildfire of thick red body hair. His hands are strong and calloused from hard work with them and he speaks with a gruff baritone voice laced with a drawling low Ishgardian accent
Loud, brash, and crude, Yvesoix is the antithesis of the ideal Ishgardian. He is a man who is not afraid to take up as much space as he can and seems to thrive on being the disruptive center of attention. He also seems to seek out conflict with zeal, picking fights with others both verbal and physical should he find their behavior or opinions objectionable. He is completely devoid of subtlety; if he likes you or hates you, you'll know it instantly. Not surprisingly, he's a highly divisive person. People either despise him for his pushiness and failure to heed basic etiquette or love him for his frank, genuine demeanor that's often a breath of fresh air from your typical aloof Ishgardian. A Brumeborn through and through, Yvesoix tends heavily toward tribalism. His loyalty is to the Brume, not Ishgard, and given the choice he will gladly violate any law to see his people safe even at his own detriment. He has been to the gaols and faced public floggings many times and would gladly do it again given the chance. He is undeterred by shows of force, often meeting them head on in equal or greater measure, but lacks the social intellect to go head to head with a more slippery politician. He is unpredictable if you treat him as an Ishgardian; he is extremely predictable when you treat him as a wild coeurl defending its territory. While not educated and lacking in common academic knowledge in subjects such as science, literature, geography, history, or mathematics, he possesses a surprising genius in figuring out how things work and acquiring new skills, especially ones that require significant spatial awareness. Present him with something he hasn't seen before and he'll be as curious as a child, but challenge any of his preconceived notions of the ways of the world and he will stubbornly resist until given a motivation not to. He learned how to play the piano well enough to compose complex songs by memory in a half day after seeing one for the first time, but he still thinks the star is flat and no one can change his mind. He can disassemble and reassemble any machine you give him even if he's never seen it before, but still has to sound words out out loud when he reads. He thrives in the concrete, not the abstract. He is a mechanic, not an engineer. Surprisingly, he does have a knack for leadership. His confidence draws many people to follow his commands when given. However, he is highly aggressive in his tactics; you either get out of his way or get rolled over. Given the option, he would rather have his followers fear him than love him and tends to remain personally distant with them so as to better act as a figure instead of a person. In all things, he leads from the front, never assigning tasks to others that he wouldn't do himself. While a very emotional person, those who are not close to him generally only see two: playful shittiness or rage. It doesn't take much for him to flip flop between the two; he is a very volatile man with a fiery temper that often leads him to make stupid, self destructive decisions that either land him in trouble with authorities or end up with him bleeding out somewhere. Many a night have his loved ones been woken up to rescue him from his own rash decision making. Those who are close to him will not find a more dedicated friend. He often goes out of his way to bring joy in his friends' and lovers' lives by listening out for their desires and finding some way to fulfill them. He will go to the moon and back for them even to the point of near masochistic self sacrifice that he swallows and ignores. In all things, his community and his comrades come first and he comes second. Calling you his comrade is the highest compliment he can give; if he says it, it means he will literally die for you.
