History/Timeline

Zularti Vensar was born in a small village near Aleport. Since he was young, he dealt with threats from the Sahagin, but he spent most of his childhood with his father on his fishing boat, or working on the docks. His life was fairly average until he turned fourteen, when a large Sahagin raiding party attacked the village. The Sahagin had watched the patrols from Limsa Lominsa and Aleport and attacked at the perfect time. The village was defenseless, and the villagers were either captured or killed.

The prisoners were taken back to a base where they were to be offered to Leviathan. They were in cages awaiting the tempering ceremony. Soon it was Zularti and his family's turn. His mother, father, and sister were held down beside him on a slab of rock. The hands and feet of his mother and father were broken so they couldn’t fight back or flee.

A large, ornate dagger, with a serpent hilt, light blue blade, and dark blue pearl on the pommel, was raised and cut into each of his family members. The blade cut deep into each person and their bodies went limp. Soon, his family rose again with glowing blue eyes and the place of the cut had grown scales. They were now servants of Leviathan and rose to stand beside the Sahagin. His mother and father could barely stand and were crawling to take their place beside their new masters.

As the dagger was raised to Zularti, his sister beside him, a strong cannon blast destroyed the large doors leading into the encampment. Zularti took this moment to try to jump up, the dagger cutting his eye, yet he did not falter and took off running. He left his sister alone with the Sahagin and he continued to run. Zularti made his way back to the village, barely conscious. He had lost a lot of blood and was barely able to stand. He saw a girl and managed to mumble out the word, “Help,” before collapsing on the ground.

He woke up at the manor of the girl and found out her name was Faye and she lived with a rather wealthy family. The father was a great military leader and the mother was kind. He lived with them for a while and they were kind enough to treat him like a son. Zularti couldn't shake the past, though. He had left his mother and father, and abandoned his sister. He wasn’t sure if she was alive or dead, and couldn’t bear the thought of finding out the answer. He would much rather live his life not knowing what his cowardice really cost him. Still, he knew he had to atone for his actions. Zularti packed up his things and told Faye he was leaving. He headed north to the Highlands to receive training as a lancer and eventually become a Dragoon.

However, he missed his induction ceremony and cut his training short after the Calamity. He could no longer sit idly by and train while people suffered and died every day. Zularti hopped upon his chocobo, Lady, and set off in the night to fight off the evils of the world. Never officially being labeled a Dragoon and not being allowed to return to the place he trained has never haunted him. He spends his days traveling Eorzea, fighting the Beastmen and attacking Garlean camps. He puts his training to good use and has gotten stronger and more able with time. Most of the Beastmen know when Zularti is coming, and even know what Lady looks like.

Ten years passed before he finally saw Faye again. He suggested they form a company so that he could become a hero for Eorzea. She agreed and the Harbingers were formed. They are now led by Zularti as he continues to fight and leaves the day-to-day operations of the company to his Saints. Zularti’s right eye is a deep blue with no pupil.
