In fact, he seemed to relish in the stories that whirled around him. That is, before the Au Ra immigrants started pouring in. A good 3-4 ilms of Madoc's left horn is broken in the front and back, harmful to his pride at the time, but now convenient that he can see better out that side. Scars of all types and lengths litter his body, and he'd be happy to share the tale of each one. Whether by confidence or cockiness, he rarely wears proper armor to battle. If no shirt at all, he can otherwise be seen wearing cloth or leather armor with only plate on his arms or legs. Perhaps he seeks to intimidate by showing his scars and scales. Or perhaps he is simply averse to clothes. PERSONALITY Typically found in taverns or lazying about, it's easy to see Madoc as an easy-going, laid back guy at first. And he is. He loves interesting stories is quite comfortable walking straight up and striking a conversation. The company of women is even moreso welcomed, with his wandering eyes and cocky little smirk. People intrigue him. He asks pointed questions and tests waters, and it's sort of a game for him to read reactionary tics and responses in order to know a person better. He is more observant than he might seem, storing away information for later. On the battlefield, Madoc revels in the adrenaline of a good fight, often taunting enemies or boosting the morale of others. Even if wounded, he'll seem to be enjoying himself. There's a light-heartedness to him, almost as if he was playing a sport and not murdering people legitimate monsters. A serious side emerges when it comes to business and loyalty. Despite his questionable trade, he is surprisingly true to his word. His loyalty can be bought, for good or ill, and he will remain so until the job is done. Unless, of course, this puts him in a compromising position. He doesn't like being tricked or trapped, and this is the quickest way to kindle his anger. BACKGROUND Madoc remembers living in the Steppes as a small child. He remembers being surrounded by a warm Xaela tribe. He remembers fire, and war, and the crackling of branches. Boarding a small vessel and spending weeks at sea. Xaela bodies being sent overboard, dead and rotting with disease. The feel of land beneath his feet, and being traded from one pair of hands to the next, moving and running and surviving. Living on his own, he remembers dark nights and cold shoulders. 'Demon child' the blurred faces said. He remembers starting to believe them, and the rebellion that burned through his veins in bitterness. Then, he remembered a face. A thick beard with matching brows and a smile that was both gentle but callous, extending a hand that showed the same. 'Sellswords,' Madoc remembers him saying, 'are simply demons without horns.' A xaela healer and caster of the mute Qestir tribe. Endlessly helpful, even if quiet. 👍 Ume Muto: "Maiden." A raen who spontaneously sleeps but is very nice when awake, albeit a bit odd. 👍 Liso Maimhov: "Sweets." A perky keeper with expressive ears. Haughty keeper alchemist who Madoc actually finds amusement in her disdain. 👍 Osgar Forester: A dashingly handsome midlander who feeds Madoc's ego. There is no hope now. 👎 Akino Naeuri: Raen princess who used Solaris to hide from her betrothed, later reported to be traitorous. NPC INTERACTIONS 👍 ???: "Red." Someone who Madoc calls regularly via linkpearl. Her exact identity and relationship to him is unknown. ⚫ Milly: A strange miqo'te mage who played a trick on Solaris to make them do a job. Kept her word, but baffling. 👎 Hitsurugi: "Shitsurugi." Keeps tricking Solaris and trying to take a strange Garlean orb from Temame. 💀 Stanton: "Piece of shite." Attacked the mercs of Solaris Edge and got away with it. Then tried it again. He's dead now.
