present and accounted Street rat with a hidden heart of gold and notoriously against admitting so, Sonya Young was born in Limsa and subsequently abandoned after only a couple of years. She doesn't know who her parents were, whether they are, if they're alive or dead, and she isn't keen on finding out either. She was brought up on the streets and learned to hone the art of stealth and misdirection to keep herself alive, and though she has openly admit she kills people without remorse if it is necessary, there is a glimmer of something inside of her that speaks of care for the common man, loath as she is to admit it. Skills & Hobbies Sonya's abilities are mostly honed in the school of the Shinobi, though she's never heard using that actual term. Stealth Her skill in stealth is likely her best asset; she's able to slip in and out of notice with ease, even considering her odd hair-colour, and often finds herself sneaking up on people; it has been said she should 'wear a bell' by those in her Company so that they know when she's around. Most of this stems from her unassuming posture and ability to stand still and silent for long stretches of time. She considers this a form of stealth like most aren't comfortable with, going so far as to -- in private -- call it 'cadaver watching' Perception A keen eye for detail helps round out her ability to perceive things that others might miss out on; this can include small shifts in posture and social clues to determine when someone is about to leave a room, and sometimes even if someone is lying to her no matter how good they are at selling it. To her credit, even when someone is lying to her sometimes, she's willing to let that pass depending on the situation, and often will do her very best to draw attention away from the lie if it's necessary for a job. Ambidexterity & Speed Being ambidextrous helps Sonya in her use of the dual-daggers, though she is not limited to small blades; her arms are toned and flexible, helping to facilitate her strength in piercing nigh-on anything with a bladed weapon and a surprising speed. She cannot take many hits and her speed is what keeps her alive most of the time; though she is strong she isn't made of steel and is built for stealth, speed, and quick cuts. Associates & Associations ♥ Romantic Interest ♥ Platonic Love ● Good Standing ● Poor Standing ● It's complicated ● Tayn Zolin - One of her bosses, so to speak, under the banner of Jutat De, Tayn took a chance on hiring her to work on some of their more bloody and stealth-necessary missions and has since then become one of the few people Sonya respects outright. She still sasses him, but generally she knows when to shut it down and be the dutiful employee. ● Lily Dawnsworn - Sonya's other Boss, so to speak, and the only woman who has a look that can silence even her razor-tongue; Sonya respects Lily in a way she'll never tell her, and has never sassed her out of a mutual understanding that you just don't mess with some people. ● Aurelia Aerowind - Where Sonya is outwardly mean when she gets on a tangent, Aurelia is quick to call someone a boob but less likely to actually hurt someone's feeling -- except perhaps Lecede, her brother -- and Sonya has admitted on more than one occasion that there are parts of their arts that Aurelia is far more adept at than she, herself, is. Aurelia's a friend and Sonya is mildly protective. ● Lecede Aerowind - Though it holds no venom, Sonya sees Lecede as a bit of a rival considering his aptitude for stealth and silence; it annoys her that her best skill is rivaled by another but she still sees Lecede as a friend. It will not, however, stop her from calling him a boob with Aurelia. ● Chip Wayman - Not one to admit it openly, Sonya has grown far more fond of Chip than she'd originally anticipated. What started as an attempt to save a hopeful young man from banshees trying to break his spirit has formed into the first real friendship she's made outside of the Company. Chip is quick to tell her just how much she cares about him and how they're great friends and Sonya's quick to reply with biting wit and annoyance; she may never admit it but she cares for him a great deal and has somehow become his partner in crime fight ● Vahalla Savage - Their interactions in the beginning were mildly caustic but harmless, until she heard of Vee taking matters into her own hands involving the doling out of justice as she saw fit; Sonya sees it as ignorant bullying for the sake of fulfilling some need to punish the people who killed her parents, regardless of a particular's guilt. She tolerates her for Chip's sake but doesn't like her, and is sure the feeling is mutual given the woman's penchant for calling her a 'shrew'. ● Dry Bird - Much like Vahalla, Sonya sees Bird as a bit of a hypocrite and blowhard. The dislike seems to go both ways and though they are somewhat civil in the presence of others it doesn't take much to make Sonya roll her eyes and walk off in regards to the roegadyn. ● Brazen Comet - Out of the trio (Vee, Bird, and Comet)Sonya seems to have the least amount of venom for Comet, even though she has been somewhat caustic at times. Comet seems to genuinely wish the best for her friends and have good intentions which sees her a lot further in Sonya's eyes. They aren't friends by any standards, and Comet's relationship with the other two women makes it hard to see it ever getting there.
