Struggling to face the gravity of events that had circled his life, and his involment in there outcomes, he devoted himself to becoming a Dragon Knight of Ishgard. An act that was both selfless and cowardly. For when Anatole was asked to comment on the death of his wife and young daughter, he only responded with "she fell". Unable, still, to accept the reality of what had happened, he sought to hide his pain, and guilt, under the armour of the Dragoon.

Anatole was inspired by the strength of will, duty and honour of the Dragon Knights. He witnessed them lay their life on the line to defend the city and their loved ones. This stirred something in Anatole that made him believe he may still be redeemed-- that if he gave his life to the city he may find peace in the world after.

During a particular wicked encounter with a dragon Anatole was struck down, the visor of his helmet ripped from his face. The dragon had its way, maiming Anatole with its massive claws, before he was rescued by a friend and colleague. Slipping in and out of consciousness Anatole experienced a "new death" vision which led him to believe that his soul was destined for torment as a result of the actions of his life. Scared, bleeding, and nearly dead, Anatole crawled away from battle-- leaving his friend behind to fend against the mighty dragon.

Anatole nursed his wounds in a private location and packed a bag. Scared to face death, Anatole resolved to flee the city and abandon his duty. Knowing that he could never return to his life, for he would surely be prosecuted as a deserter, he created a new identity for himself .
| ||

History Acasius likes to keep his cards close to his chest. He won't be interested in discussing his past, or details about who he is. If he were to share any private information it would be a monumental leap of faith on his part, and show a sincere appreciation and trust. If you are playing an Ishgardian character it would be acceptable to know some details of his past without being told-- since the larger events would be near public knowledge in the right gossip circles. However, please keep in mind that my character has changed his name, and appearance since living in Ishgard and will deny having any accusations-- *unless there has been a rapport built up. Disclaimer: I am extremely new to FFXIV and still learning the lore. As such, points of this backstory are likely to change as my understanding improves. Please consider this as a work in progress and not the final result.
