Hair: Dark crimson in color, kept pulled back and braided normally. More or less managed to keep it out of her face without bothering too much with it.

History
Early Life:

Lived in a base set up near Ishgard for most of her childhood. Her mother tried her best to raise her and her older sibling while their father worked daily. Mostly she followed her brother and father about learning different skills from them. Even starting to take up the lance when she was old enough to hold one. A odd fascination seemed to spawn at this early age towards dragons, one that was quickly dismissed as her parents scolded her for it.

Given her size she always seemed to bite off more then she could chew and ended up in trouble that her sibling had to bail her out of. One time nearly costing her dearly due to her disregard of her parents warnings that drakes were evil creatures. She had found a wounded one and tried to do something for it only to have ti turn on her and nearly end her short lived life. Luckily for her a patrol unit was near as well as her brother as they finished the beast off. The scare seemed to end her curiosity with the creatures.

When she was starting her lancer training was when she was also learning under her fathers wing on how to forge weapons and armor. A craft that her father was very proud of. Seeing as his only son didn't seem to wish to learn he jumped at the chance to teach Salene. Something she picked up almost naturally as she worked under her father to begin helping on repairs, even if they were just small ones.

Adolescence:

Her brother went off to fight in the dragon war once he was old enough, a natural lesser Dragoon. His skills were much needed in the fight. This left her to be with her mother and father, learning basic healing skills form her mother. Consisting of both magic and non-magic. She was also rapidly improving at the forge. The bombling that had found itself in her father's care seemed to take to her right away as she commonly let it sit in the fire so long as it behaved itself. A creature she would later dumb the name of Spit to, or the longer name of Spit-Fire due to its seeming inability to cast fire as it should.

As she grew in age there was no word on her brothers return, or the group he was with. Presumed dead the family had to move on with their loss. Though about this time was when someone new seemed to step into their lives for a short period. A young Miq'ote was found while Salene and her father were out on the roads to make a delivery to a near-by settlement. The child was very young and her parents had already been slaughtered by the drake that was standing near. Without hesitation Salene and her father moved to slay the beast and spare the child the same fate. Though the girl was later placed into the care of House Haillenarte as their family did not have the means to care for a child that young.

It was about this time that Salene decided she had enough of where her life seemed to be going and left home. At the age of sixteen as she traveled into the Shroud from her homelands. Though she had the skills to fight she was unprepared and ended up being jumped along the road just exiting the Shroud. A small group of bandits nearly made her journey short if it had not been for a elder Hyur Highlander that came to her aid and scared the bandits off. The scar on her face and a few on her body came from this encounter. The elder male took care of her till she recovered enough to do things on her own, at that point she pleaded with him to let her repay him. Though repayment lead to her becoming his apprentice as a woodworker and repairman. This elder was also where Salene learned her Gladiator moves from, enough to aid her in a fight if something were to happen again.

Spending the year with the Hyur, she had thought she had found her place away from home. But all of that changed in the blink of a eye. After finishing a delivery request in Ul'dah was when Salene found herself down Pearl Lane and mixed up in a crew that was more then shady. At this time she was still young, only being seventeen and having little to know knowledge of how the city worked or what to look out for. She fell victim to the group after being called to join in a 'innocent' card game. She was knocked out and stripped of her possessions before being forced into a crate and soon after on a ship that was docked in Vesper Bay that was headed to gods knew where. Coming to mid trip of course she was in a panic a short lived one as she had no food or water and no way to escape the crate she was in.

Luck would have it the ship was forced to dock in Limsa where the cargo was checked and odd noises seemed to catch the inspection crews attention. No where to go, and no gil to speak of, Salene was almost sure she was doomed to some horrid fate in this port city. Though she did seem to have some luck on her side still. A Roe that was part of the Maruarder's guild took her in and gave her a place to stay under the condition that she worked. Right away once she was stable health wise again and recovered enough from the trip in the crate she started hunting for work.

Her first job being an assistant cook at one of the many places in the city, the second being at the Red Rooster as a farm hand. Though she still managed to find time for training between her two jobs. Though it wasn't her training that caught the Maruarder guild leader's eye. It was her skill with a wood cutting axe one afternoon. A pack of wild dog came to attack the farm. Not having her lance on her she quickly grabbed the nearest thing she found. It happened to be a wood chopping axe that belonged to one of the Roe that worked there. Slaying a few of the beasts before the pack turned tail. This display had her signed up for proper training in such a weapon, training that would define her fighting style for the rest of her days.

Adulthood:

Staying in Limsa Salene was rather content with her life. Keeping her two jobs over the years. Though she did go into hiding her identity for a while. After that day she was found in the crate she started taking on the name of Salvius instead of Salene. On top of this she dressed like a male for years just in case someone was looking for her. They would be searching for a female Elezen, not a male. She played this part well too, very few knew of her true identity and she explained herself to them as to why she wanted to hide. It was partly out of fear, but the other part was she wanted to train and be ready for when she did choose to come out of the shadows. It would not happen a second time.

Though even with pretending to be a gender she wasn't, Salene made a good living. Working on the farm she managed to befriend a chocobo that was hatched there. One of the Midlanders named it Zeek, no real reason why he just said it felt like a fitting name for the hyper new hatchling. Though Zeek grew into a monster of a beast that was for sure. Oddly outgrowing the size of his parents and only really taking to listening to Salene.

After the years passed though she finally decided enough was enough and chose to travel back to the Shroud to see if she could locate her family once more. She didn't expect a warm welcome to say the least, but it had been enough time and she had no idea if they survived the calamity... Her journey never made it that far as some distractions got in her way...

Relationships
Friends & Allies:

Natya Rudh: Formerly someone that Sal had learned to call Captain. This woman she also owes a great deal to as she was the only one who managed to talk her out of her fear of failure in her job as a vanguard. After the company was disbanded the two kept in slight contact with one another, brief at best. She did offer her help, on his terms, to teach her the maruarder combat style instead of sending her to the guild. Though he fought with her tooth and nail more commonly then not she is still a trusted ally if she was asked no matter what her background was.

Koumoru Doumoru: A Lalafell lancer, met randomly in the Black Shroud area along with the odd group she was with at the time. Due to a small encounter on the road when the two were traveling a sort of mutual respect was formed between the two. Salene still recalls the strange Lalafell taking a interest in the poorly crafted armor she was in at the time. Though for a while they kept in contact, it slowly seemed to die off over time.

Minawa Doumoru: A very odd Lalafell, needs to get her head out of the books and have a look at the world about her more. Accused her of stealing the armor she wore and then continued to question her on the scars on her face. Some story she told her she didn't believe as she said he shouldn't have to put up with someone beating him in a relationship. All of this came from a simple asking of directions. This particular Lalafell is also one of the few she doesn't mind as she seems clueless to the world, much like a curious child. One of the few to give her a nickname he has never had before "Eggbert" as she cheerfully stated if she ever got a chocobo she would name him that after she had talked Sal into carrying her from The Coin and Coffer to Ul'dah.

X'yandih Haillenarte: A summoner in training and someone who she may have known from his past. She seemed to have trouble with her summons once in a while but as far as a summoner goes she's a decent one. Commonly has a bodyguard with her and is in a cheerful mood. Though there are dark secrets hidden under that smile, a few that the two had spoken about in private. Not too much is known about her otherwise though she never bothered to pry either. Half looks at her like a younger sister with the age difference and her actions reminding her a bit of a child at times.

Thrylos Elpida: X'yandih's bodyguard and friend. He is close to his charge at all times and says very little unless needed. Very formal and straightforward. Almost overly protective of his charge. Though either the two are blind to it or have no idea on how to express their feelings it's easy to tell how close Thrylos is to X'yandih. Never the less a fine gladiator.

Emelin Souledge: Constantly worried about her fashion. They were on a mission together and the girl was more worried about the torn boot she had then the wounds upon her body. Also a childhood friend of X'yandih's. Besides being fashion crazid she is normal enough to be around, save the bit of Aeither weakness she has to being near large amounts of the stuff.

Florina Lorlum: A dear never forgotten friend of her past. A young to be summoner that was over ambitious for her own good. This ambition nearly got them both killed when a summon spell went horribly wrong. To this day Salene still goes to her grave site just to catch up on the times and to settle his own mind that to this day questions if she could have done more back then.

Iris Dawnstar: Strange... that is the only word that comes to mind. Seems to be easily distracted.

Sayre Mordio: A blind Wildwood that seems to pick strange allies. Fates have had Salene and Sayre meet up more then once. Stays near the Shroud area seeing as that is where his home is. Likes to talk even if he has told Salene in the past that he doesn't often talk to others. She is rather intrigued by this character given his disability.

Enemies:

Llaine Tetheros: Once a childhood friend and Commander of the Knights of the Spiral eye, now is someone that Salene would rather slam into the wall and demand answers. Knights went missing and she did nothing about it besides send more to their deaths. A actions that Salene says was unnecessary when they had more seasoned fighters at their disposal. Though she hasn't seen Llaine in a long while, not after leaving the order of knights after a small groups of them waited months for word from their Commander.

Family:

Salfather.jpg

Garen Dunois; father: Blacksmith that works in Coerthas, under the House of Haillenarte. Well enough known for his handwork in the craft but not known too far outside of the area. Kept to himself and mainly did work on gear and repairs needed to defend from the never ending onslaught of dragons that are faced. Stubborn to the point of being hardheaded. Can be a bit brash when challenged but a hard worker none the less.

Salmother.jpg

Chenelle Dunois; mother: Healer by trade, using a mix of healing magic and old herbal remedies in her work. She is blind in both eyes after a mishap during a routine patrol route. Normally kind hearted and forgiving she does have her limits that you do not want to cross. Though her loss of eyesight made raising two children rather difficult she always kept pushing forward to do the best she was able to do for her family.

Salsibling.jpg

Rique Dunois; elder sibling: Lesser Dragoon but hardly a novice, his skills with a lance are almost unrivaled. Has a bit of a ego and as such is very full of himself. His tongue is almost as sharp as the weapon he carries with him. Took no interest in the trade that his father had as he took up arms to fight in the dragon war. Though he has been missing for quite a few years now, presumed dead.
