Traumatic experiences submerged truth under a quagmire of a phantasmic nuclear existence that helped the highlander cope. Suppressing reality to the point where Vari cannot even remember what exactly happened, he explains his life as rather vanilla. He grew up to a humble family in the East Shroud, an older son to a hardworking mother and father. He's a big brother that playfully teased his little sister, but was quite protective over her as the highlander family made the comfort of the shrouds their home. Where are they now? Vari is a man with over 40 seasons weathered in his body, did he have a family of his own? Where are they if so? Vari talks about being a consort, a dancer and performer to pay the bills. He created a persona of the 'Dreamer' called 'Aisling,' but something just doesn't add up. When asked of his scars, he recalls memories of private dances getting rough, or courtesan escorting events going south into a scrape that the mild-mannered Highlander fell victim to. How much of this violence is reality versus the emerald dream conjured up in the wood of Gridania? Aside from his scars, Vari has a tribal marking the left side of his face and two floral tattoos on his forearms: right has a blue tiger lily, and left has a red lily with whispy stamen Hygiene & Attire As a performer and courtesan, Vari has a disciplined diligence to his hygiene. He may be dirty from play, but his skin, teeth, and hair are well taken care of. His attire changes upon mood and the ecosystem in which he is in, so it ranges from erotic, to tribal, and all the way to formal ball suits. Personality Psychological Profile Here is where it gets quite interesting. On the outside, Vari is a well put together mild-mannered performer who lives for the stage, whether that be the boudoir or a platform to perform. Those who get to know him best find out there's something amiss that even the highlander doesn't have consciousness of. Voice Aisling's voice is gentle, but deep. It rumbles and quakes when excited. An expert male stripper who tantalizes the audience. ● Courtesan: Able to make you forget your troubles and ease the burdens of life, submerging you into a dreamlike state of passion and escape. Combat Abilities ● Dreaming: While 'dreaming,' which represents the majority of Vari's existing state, he lacks combat prowess and with poor instincts towards inflicting harm even in self defense. ● Lucid: While 'lucid,' which represents a significantly small piece of Vari's existing state, he slips into a coldness that is a direct contrast to his normal demeanor. He is devious, manipulating, vicious, and extremely violent. Pain claims the face that usually smiles, tears swell, and a monster emerges with calculated discipline. He will rarely miss his mark when the Aisling is truly awakened. OOC Note Any relevant notes about combat should be added here, such as player preference, system preference, or links off-site to sheets using existing XIV player-made combat systems. It is important to note that the lucid state is extremely rare, even under dangerous conditions. Vari will sustain substantial torment before he slips into this trance-like alternate personality. Most of the RP with Vari will be delightful, light, and casual. He does have trigger events alluding to the calamity or echoes of his past, but they are few since his mind warps to suppress any memory of these wicked thoughts into imagined phantasms too horrid to recollect. You may see him physically recoil or wince, dismissing the thoughts quickly and painting a more beautiful picture of his life. He peppers in explanations that seem bad to explain the scars and displacement of the highlander's locations. Aisling is a performer first and foremost. Don't be upset if you did not discover the 'reality' since it truly is something I RP that he rarely recollects. In terms of combat, I am good with virtually anything so long as it is appropriate.

History Aisling Disclaimer: Written from the 'Dream' Point of View. If there was interest, I will write the reality, which is a much darker tone. Sixth Astral Era Childhood Hazy, Fuzzy Vari grew up in a humble home within the East Shroud. His father, Luneth, was a carpenter and mother, Echani, a blacksmith who forged some of the finest tools of combat around. Both were artisans in their own right, taking time in their craftsmanship honed in Ala Mhigo. When Vari was born, the family left to take their talents to Gridania with promise of work. Without many highlanders around, they opted to drop their native name and replace it with something more neutral sounding. Echani chose 'Laveer,' meaning 'to sail against the wind,' probably thinking it was a romantic notion. To this day, Vari doesn't know if it should have been Flintstone or Grayskull - he just stuck with Laveer. They were travelers and adventurers who wanted to see the world. Falling in love with the verdant life in the comfort of the shade, they planted roots to raise their little Andvari after Echani was pregnant with Dany, their daughter. Luneth found work building furniture, working with the abundance of wood in contrast to Ala Mhigo. Echani crafted bows and blades, even cutlery for the local chefs. Static Vari's family didn't have a lot of gil to their name, but they made it work. It was an honest life where Vari was able to go to attend to his lessons, make friends, get into mischief, and enjoy being a kid. He got into the occasional scrape. He was one of the few highlanders around, so the other children picked on him. His neck was too short and body to bulky. While he had the build for it, Vari wasn't great at sports. He couldn't even stay on the chocobo until he was in his teens! He did have this one duskwight girl who took a fancy to him. INTENSE fog Pimelle was reclusive and shy. As a duskwight, she didn't take a liking to others and spent most of her time alone. Vari would often find himself hiding in this one cave as respite in a secluded hovel to escape the torture of being teased, discovering there was an enchanting dancer who also claimed this fortress of solitude as her own. Pim had dreams of being on the stage of the Amphitheater headlining a show, clawing herself out of the shell she build around herself. Initially, it was a heated discovery as Pim tried to kick the highlander out. The vision of this elezen girl haunted the boy though. He had never seen something so divine in his life. Determined to impress her, Vari insisted on returning to the cave claiming he wanted to join her in dance. When he tried to show off his moves, Pim couldn't help but giggle at Vari's misfortune of being the worst dancer she'd ever seen. The ice was broken and she decided to help this endearing lug. Clumsy and awkward as he was, he was determined to move with alacrity, power, and grace. The highlander trained tirelessly, earning praise from the duskwight girl, which cultivated into friendship. They would take long walks into the wood to dance under the shadows of the comforting trees until the moonlight crept through to barely illuminate the grass. Their companionship curated into a bond that would last well beyond school as their dreams became one - to headline events and conquer the world as a duet dance act! It didn't matter if anyone around them bullied or heckled, Pim and Vari created their own impenetrable barrier where only their own combined happiness mattered. Seventh Umbral Era Adulthood Drowning static As is common for most men, Vari cannot pinpoint where he went wrong in the relationship. Pim and him grew apart, disappearing from his life. Vari was determined to follow in this dream of becoming a star, estranging even his own family, leaving Luneth, Echani, and Dany to their own destines. He's sure it was for the best and is confident they are doing just fine without him their to complicate things. To earn money, Vari would dance at clubs or solicit his services to those in need. He enjoyed the work because he had the unique opportunity to bring joy to those who were distraught after the calamity. Their lives were filled with such horror. Disconnected from those emotions, Vari was able to provide them comfort and companionship. He made his clients feel special, like they were the only ones in the world that mattered. He played the psychologist, the lover, the friend, the nurse, the listener, whatever they dreamed of. He created the persona of Aisling as representation of the dreams he was able to create for people. The years escaped him as he travelled Eorzea headlining both small and large venues. Like peering through a ripple There were a few scrapes along the way. Gil was tight and Vari went home with the wrong people: hooligans and hoodlums up to no good. They took advantage of Vari's kindness and vulnerability. Vari was attacked a few times as Aisling, waking up bleeding in the streets, naked and raped with nothing. These traumatic events took their tolls on him, sure. But Vari put on a smile and continued to perform as the show must go on. Learning many dances across the lands, he continuously strived to hone new skills, training with whips and fire. In Recent Times Moving Forward Now a headlining act, Vari performs at large venues with frequency. His performances bring joy to others Crackle and that's all that matters. Something about fire draws the man in. Nothing is better than a cup of coffee watching the flames dance, flickers of cinder and tinder entertaining him when he's not performing.
