General Information Koh’ya is a former Tailfeather hunter who decided to leave his homeland of the Dravanian Forelands to start a new life as an adventurer and to forget about his overbearing Keeper Miqo’te family. He travels the land to explore the world and does whatever he can to make a living. Koh’ya is a talented hunter and trapper, and once he sets his sight on something he’d never let them escape. In recent events, he was inflicted with a curse that turned him into a Lalafell with fox ears and tail, and along with other shenanigans he is in search of a cure that will return him back to his Miqo’te self... . ❝ Koh'ya with his owlet companion ❞ Appearance Hair & Eyes Koh’ya normally keeps his hair short to about neck length or shorter and he lets his bangs hang over the side of his face. His natural hair color is close to soot black, but in certain lighting can seem to be a deep blue grey. He also sports highlights of lighter shades of cyan or lime green highlights at the tips, depending on his mood. His very short tail is the same color as his hair, as well as the end of his tail colored the same as his highlights. Koh’ya’s eyes are heterochromia; his right eye is a golden orange and left eye is sky blue. Physique & Markings Standing at a height of five fulms and one ilms, Koh’ya is short compared to most Miqo’te males and was known as the “runt” in his family. His physique is just slightly on the slim side, otherwise he is mostly average build. What he usually lacks in brute strength is made up with dexterity and cunning in combat. His facial features are on the soft side, though he is beginning to lose some of his youthfulness. He possess traditional Miqo’te Keeper of the Moon facial markings and his cheek tattoos are often any dark shade of blue. Another tattoo (that Koh'ya tries to keep hidden from the public) that is on his body are the swirling markings that snake up his right arm to his shoulder, partially over his right breast, and to side of his neck. It used to be simple in design and much smaller on his forearm, however over the years it had grown slightly intricate; it seemingly continuing to expand, and not made by man’s hand. Hygiene & Attire Koh’ya often keeps himself clean, though there are days when he'd be too tired from his work to upkeep his hygiene. He does have a sensitive nose though, so Koh’ya can’t stand it without a shower for long. His casual attire usually consists of loose fitting clothes that doesn’t restrict his movements, much like the cashmere poncho he is most often seen wearing, one of the enjoyable memories of his childhood thanks to some friends in Tailfeather. For his more work or combat related attire, he prefers leather or clothed armor, nothing heavy or metal plated that would restrict his movements. Personality Personality Koh’ya is patient and quite timid, so mostly keeps to himself if he is with unfamiliar company or is within large groups of people. Though with those he trusts and is close to, he shows a more relaxed and playful cat-like personality. He has a curious spirit and loves to adventure and try new things. He does have his fears though and grows nervous and scared when he is near women of any race for long periods of time. Shunned and bullied as a child by his mother and sisters, Koh’ya still bears the physical and mental scars of his time with them, and as much as he hates to show this side of him to others. In truth, he doesn’t hate women and would love to get to know them, but personal reflexes and old habits deter him away if they get too close. He also has a devious side, sometimes having to take things that doesn't belong to him and hiding it or to keep for himself. Philosophy & Mannerisms Koh'ya often goes with the flow with things and keeps an open mind when it comes to something new that he is unfamiliar with. He is respectful to those he sees that deserves it and he is not afraid to voice his concern if something does not feel right to him. History . Childhood Born and raised to a secluded Keeper of the Moon tribe residing in the Dravanian Forelands, Koh’ya was the youngest among his siblings and the eighth son of the matriarch Koh Nelhah. As a child, he never got along with his mother and sisters due to their harsh personalities and constant bullying, which developed his fear with women. Koh’ya never met his father, but his family weren’t one to indulge him on his curious questions. Koh’ya never met his elder brothers either, learning they were killed by dragons or beasts of the forelands years ago. Though the two brothers that were born before him, Koh'ya had only seen them as a toddler. Even then, the men didn’t care for each other, which eventually they left home when they were old enough to fend for themselves. After a few years, an incident took place when attempting to hunt alone in the woods nearby his home. Koh’ya remembered he was approached by something during nightfall, but what happened after that he had no recollection of the events. The only thing that was left behind when Koh’ya awoken was a strange tattoo over his forearm. However, not wanting to return home empty handed concerned him more than the tattoo, so he resumed his hunt and continued onward, not bothering to mention it to his family. When Koh’ya grew to an adolescent, he made a fatal mistake that nearly gotten a few of his sisters killed during a hunt and his mother decided to drive him away from the tribe. From then on, Koh'ya spent his days surviving out in wilderness of the Chocobo Forest, until he took refuge within Tailfeather where he was properly trained to be a hunter under a man named Aivan Issusha. Adulthood Over the years before the Calamity, Koh’ya spent most of his time as a hunter of Tailfeather, learning the proper ways of snaring his prey and to survive out in the wilds that his family never taught him. He had been a valuable asset to Tailfeather, capturing and grooming some of the finest chocobos the village had seen. Some envied his ability to tame the foreland’s wilderness, while others hated how easily he made coin from his catches, but despite that Koh’ya does what he loves the most even if he had to make a few enemies along the way. However, after the Calamity, Koh’ya noticed a change in some way…the people who visited and the stories of the scarred lands they traversed to reach the forelands intrigued him. All his life he lived in the isolation of Dravania and hearing the stories of the Calamity and the lands beyond the Holy See, Koh’ya wanted to see it for himself! Taking whatever spoils he had from selling his birds and his own trusty chocobo companion, he set off to travel around Eorzea. For months, he tried to do what he can to survive and take on any job that would accept his services, while attempting to learn the things he’d never thought he could do. Delving into magicks was one of them and through former comrades during his travels, he’d been able to wrap around the concept of it, but not fully master it yet. Eventually, he stumbled across flyers advertising the need of staff for a company’s menagerie. The thought of working with rare and exotic beasts caught his interest and working with animals again was something Koh’ya longed while he was on the road. Without any hesitation, he applied for the position of beast trainer for Equinox. Current Times Moving Forward Despite employment under NOX, Koh’ya often still travels around and with the recent access to Gyr Abania and the Far East, he made quick to explore the lands. Somehow he found himself in Yanxia and near the ruins of Doma, where he was in search of a rare fox. When he thought he found his quarry, he had blacked out and then found himself as a Plainsfolk Lalafell…with fox ears and tail. Having no memory of what happened, Koh’ya went to ask the locals if there such tales of these sort of transformations and his answer was that he’d been afflicted with a curse. Now Koh’ya is on a mission to find a way to return to his Miqo’te self, all the while continuing working under Equinox… Eventually Koh'ya found the fox, which took residence in Koh'ya's chambers along with several other animals that he takes care of part of Equinox's menagerie. Currently he is back to being a Miqo'te...for now.
