He arrived in Ul'dah at the age of eight and grew up in the city as one of the less fortunate citizens. Ever since he was taken away from his home and brought to Thanalan, Vel was under the control of his captor, unable to break free of the shackles of abuse and mistreatment for at least five years. Till one day he ran into the arms of a doman, who only introduced himself as Sin'ichi, offering him help by training the young boy in secrecy. Eventually Velice was able to muster the courage to stand up against his nightmares and escaped this dusty hell hole. Wanting nothing more, but a quiet life without any more violence, carrying the reminders of his past burned into his very skin, Vel ended up in Gridania, seeking guidance at the Conjury where he was welcomed and accepted as a student. As years passed he realised that no magic or potion could cure a scarred soul and that the damage done did go far past the scars covering his body. Living rather withdrawn, he turned into a quiet and distrusting Miqo'te, straying from the path of the conjurer and picking up his blades yet again, he tracked down his former mentor to finish his training. After following his mentor to Ishgard and spending another few years in the cold north, one day Sin'ichi did not return to his companion. The two had grown much closer than a tutor and his student should have, which made his sudden vanishing even more so a paining event. Wandering between the cities, keeping busy to forget, Vel picked up any odd job he could find and getting involved in some less legal business along the way especially after returning to what he still calls his 'home', Ul'dah. Given Name: Velice Telca'rioth Aliases/Nicknames: Vel. Some very close friends call him Velly. Clan: Both. He was born to a keeper mother and seeker father. Current Residence: An apartment in the Goblet Ward 6. Marital Status: Engaged. Monogamous. Sexuality: Homosexual. ⚣ Religion: He does not follow any set religion. Alignment: Chaotic Neutral. Items he always carries on him: - Lockpicking toolkit. - Pair of daggers. - Drugs to calm his nerves. - Throwing knives. (At least 2) - Small coin pouch. - Notebook. (Received from his mentor) - An Azeyma Talisman. - Obsidian Ring. Deity: Azeyma, the Warden is one of his deities. Vel himself knows very little about the different deities and also doesn't have any real interest in learning more about them. The reason Azeyma however is his deity is a talisman, the only thing he still owns from the time with his parents. Though, being born in the 3rd Umbral Moon, Oschon, the Wanderer is his true deity. APPEARANCE Height: Vel stands pretty tall for a Miqo'te and almost reaches the average height of a midlander. Weight: He has a wiry, athletic form and seems capable of a one-on-one fight. Body: Velice's form is well toned, yet far from what one would expect of a knight or someone carrying heavy weaponry. He appears agile and quick footed, very much able to fight with a pair of knives or daggers and get away fast enough. Complexion: Being a child born to a Keeper and a Seeker, Vel has a tan skin, which appears rather unusual as his other more prominent features are those of the Keeper tribe. Face: Vel's face appears still young, however anyone who invests the time to take a deep look into his ruby eyes can tell that he has seen his share of good and bad things even in his relatively young age. His features are soft and often can be described as monotone due to the lack of facial expression, unless he shows one of his rare smiles. Hair: Velice was born with snow white hair, like his mother's. The often unruly strands sticking in all directions frame his face and are kept relatively short. Fashion: The color of Vel's clothing often, if also not always, can be a hint to his state of mind. Due to the damage done also to his mental state, darker colors indicate that his more confident and distrusting side is in control. While one will encounter a much more quiet and shy Velice if he decides to wear brighter colors. Generally he wears whatever seems appropriate and likes to stick to coats and jackets. Particular Traits: Most of the time Vel tries to cover most of his body, specifically hiding his back and upper arms that are covered in scars and burn marks. Some scars can be seen peeking out under his sleeves or if he wears shorts rather than long pants. The locations on which they seem to concentrate stem from the miqo'te rolling up with his arms over his head and his legs pulled close to his chest to offer as little surface as possible and to safe himself from the worst beatings, keeping his head and face mostly unharmed. PERSONALITY Demeanor: Depending on his state of mind, Velice is a confident young man who appears rather caring, which stems from his study of the conjury and his second profession as healer. In truth he is extremely distrusting and would never turn his back without having a hand on his knife, ready to defend himself. He even often sleeps clinging to one of his daggers fiercly. Able to keep up a relatively friendly facade he only has issues with people that he considers a waste of time, which is one of the few situations in which one might see him loose his cool. Something that seems to be of great importance to him is his indipendence, which makes him often unable to accept any kind of help - that makes asking for help a great deal to him and means he has to overcome his own stubbornness. Quirks: Vel has the habit of spacing out completely from time to time, especially when sitting quietly and watching others he sometimes ends up gazing at passers by with a blank stare of his ruby eyes. Other than that he is prone to sudden moodswings, a result of being "a bit screwy" as some might call it. Intelligence: Thanks to the few years of education before he was taken from his home and the years of scholarship at the Conjury later, Velice is relatively well-versed and enjoyed reading even at a very young age greatly. However, his skills are more applicable for combat and survival in comparison to the time he spend studying. Nothing about his style is honorable or fair. Unless he has to follow rules, as for example if he ever would attend a tournament of sorts, he will do whatever necessariy to come out atop. His greatest strength is speed rather than brute force, but is still viable for a short one-on-one fight, yet he relies rather on a quick burst than long stamina-heavy battles. Specialization: Vel is very skilled with daggers and throwing knives. His training was strict and hard and his mentor showed little mercy when it came to failures, often increasing the preassure on his student even more. He is relatively good at sneaking around and uses that to his advantage of making a first strike in combat. Armor: Velice usually wears light armor such as leather or cloth. They might not give him a whole lot of defense, but the required freedom to move undhindered and the agility to hopefully dodge any heavy attacks against him. RELATIONSHIPS ... ROLEPLAY HOOKS I'm open for ideas on how to get Vel and any other character involved into some RP. Here are some things that I can offer as options already. Grown up in Ul'dah - Being a streetkid basically he will have crossed path with ohers who grew up on the street as well. - Someone who knew his "owner" is always a possibility as well, though this would have a great chance for being a rather negative relationship. - Someone who might have dealt with him on the Ul'dah market (black market included). - A person who helped him. (A healer or anyone else) - Just someone seeing him strol around the city, which he does a lot. Conjurer - Another scholar/mentor at the conjury. - Someone who recieved healing/help from Vel. Blade-for-Hire - A client that he possibly worked for in the past. - A fellow mercenary/blade-for-hire who might have crossed his path. - Someone who was a possible "victim" or target of one of his jobs. Personality/Mood issues - A doctor or alchemist who might have helped him in the past to find the right medication. - Someone he got into a fight with in one of his moodswings, randomly.
