Shou generally appears frazzled, with head and long, fluffy tail hair unworked and mussed, and her choice of clothing is typically old, comfortable, and functional, often repaired and 'upgraded' with pockets, and marked with smudges, spots, patches and stitches. Her body seems to have fared no better, and hosts a frankly concerning number of scars, and several appear to modified for either magical or ritual purposes: with cleaner cuts and aetheroconductive tattooing applied to the scar tissue to form magical arrays. Her left ear flops over itself about halfway up and doesn't always keep up with her right as they pivot towards sound. She favors dark cosmetics for everyday wear, including black lipstick, and a large stripe of charcoal painted across her eyes to protect her nocturnal vision from some of the light from the sun.</div> |

In reality, Shou Lushan is the Thrill-Kill Cat and a danger magnet of her own making. A veteran mercenary now in charge of a misfit adventuring band, Shou has a wealth of practical historical and arcane knowledge that could perhaps rival that of tenured nerds in any scholasticate on Eorzea. She's accumulated this knowledge by acts of daring, stupidity, spontaneity, trust, desperation, and love, and has paid for it by getting decked in all mannner of ways. Diplomacy is one thing, deference is another. Shou's bullheaded, reckless, and roguish in her conduct. Yet, this hellion streak is tempered by her idealism; Shou is a vengeful bully, unflinching towards direct action against the powerful and cruel, but likewise eager to spread, mercy, love, and power to those who have found themselves under the bootheel of tyrants big and small.</font></div> |

While she bristles at the attribution of this behavior to her nature as a Miqo'te, Shou nonetheless delights in a good fight. However, this is not and entirely benevolent, competitive interest in martial arts-- Shou likes the power trip of completely dominating another creature. and the thrill of being pushed to the brink of death herself, only to return. She's far from suicidal, her interest in death is more mischievous: having experienced the journey of dying down to the last second before her soul departed her body, Shou sees death as a line set by the highest power, and she delights in teasing Nald'Thal by getting as close to it as possible. She's pretty good at it. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, Shou doesn't like killing. Maiming, certainly. Trickery, terror and pain are her favorite tools in the practice of battlecraft, but she finds no joy in the act of murder itself, like a cat letting a petrified mouse run free after she has exhausted its' potential for merrymaking. She is no pacifist, technically or otherwise, and , though the rakish smile and howling laughter that accompanies her in battle fades when she must take a life. But what else is she to do? Some people are better off dead. </font></div>

Nothing is quicker to drive Shou to anger than squabbles within an organization, from bar fights, to passive-aggressive sniping to outright betrayal. Shou is always swift to demand at the very least a veneer of solidarity within those she considers comrades. This doesn't always mean deference to authority, or even hierarchy, and Shou is swift to condemn unjust command as well. Similarly, while she refuses to tolerate such things amidst her comrades, Shou is quick to capitalize on them within her enemies', relying on fear, distrust, and doubt both on the battlefield and in diplomacy to slice the ankles out from tyrants, while hesitating to strike immediately at mere lackeys, who she tends to view as victims, instead of co-conspirators.</font></div> |

However, through familiarity, Shou's fear of the Void has matured into a roiling contempt. She finds void magic odious and its' practitioners despicable. Even in the hands of sympathetic practitioners, Shou finds invoking the void idiotic at best, and Voidsent themselves to be creatures deserving only of immediate and utter destruction, full stop. Further, her staunch defense of Thaumaturgy as a practice often puts her in a position where she publicly has to put as much distance between its' history and her own art-- an opportunity she relishes. Curiously, she can often be heard defending Mhachi methodology and ideology in the same breath, a distinction she's more than eager to delineate at length, typically to an often confused and disinterested audience who immediately regret asking.</font></div>

Her most acrid contempt lies with those who see their own cruelty as some kind of twisted virtue, which she sees as the height of delusion.</font></div>

So, every trip to the Shroud (along with horrendous allergies), Shou is oft subject to their pranksterism. Some even recognize her phobia for what it is, a futile effort that Shou ultimately interprets as an affront that elicits only more rage and contempt.</font></div>

Among her most treasured is her ever-expanding collection of Allagan erotica, whose historical merit she's quick to defend. That said, the actual contexts of the tomes are richly illustrated and unspeakably perverse, evidence both of the Allagan literati's decadent lifestyle and Shou's own blasphemous interests. She, nonetheless, finds them deeply romantic and moving, presumably somewhere in the subtext between the lechery and pseudopods.</font></div> |

Perhaps genetically prone to it due to her Miqo'te ancestry, Shou will proudly admit she enjoys the taste of everything from nutkin to rat to warmoura. Beyond this, she favors confectionary of all kinds, subsisting on them as snacks during long periods of study. Though not a drunk by any means, Shou favors potent, throat-burning spirits, and she has been known to partake in other inebriating substances, including a stash of Red Moko Grass in her room, which she quietly partakes in after great successes or crushing failures. </font></div>

After accumulating a collection of tools and machines that enable her to, perhaps not approximate, but play copycat to the methods of magical and magiteknical production known to the ancients and forgotten in the modern Era. Her inventions tend to 'break the rules' too, such as Hawkmoth. Whether for knowledge or efficiency, Shou wants to figure it out. This is limited by her experience, of course. Some things are not to be tampered with, some boxes never to be opened, and some weapons never to be wielded against another ever again. [edit]
Shou Lushan is a career Thaumaturge and freelance Archaeologist, who bears the custom-tuned, Animus-enabled suit of Allagan powered armor "Hawkmoth" into battle.
Shou Lushan is a short, slightly overweight Miqo'Te, with slate-gray skin, and black hair, with stripes, trimmed into a shaggy ombre. She favors dark cosmetics for everyday wear, including black lipstick, and a large stripe of charcoal painted across her eyes to protect her nocturnal vision from some of the light from the sun.
Due to recent, traumatic events Shou has become bonded to her living armor, Hawkmoth, which has 'evolved' its way into her body to serve as a life-support system, expressing itself as darkened veins, patches of silvered wootz emerging in irregular patches from her skin, and intermittent bolts of Cyan light tracing her veins under stress. It does not look comfortable.
Laugh at Danger, and break all the rules.
Shou would describe herself as "Mysterious". She's a mess, but she cares about people; with the parlance of a ganger and a 'ere dreaming, heroic heart,
