Close to true neutral General Information Kaede is a young woman who constantly walks the twilight line between sun and shadow, light and dark. She has a troubled past, to say the least; yet from that she pushes herself to do and be better. She seeks to step into the light of a healer, yet she longs for the shadows in which a shinobi walks. She offers forgiveness and succor, but longs for revenge and retribution. She is quiet and shy almost to a fault, making it often hard for her to get to know people. This tendency is only heightened by her lack of skill with the common Eorzean tongue. However, if you manage to get past the timid exterior, she has a sweet disposition and a boundless energy to her. ❝ To light a candle is to cast a shadow. ❞ Appearance Initial Impression Kaede is small, even for a female au ra, coming in at a mere 4'8". Her frame is lithe and agile, but years spent without sufficient food or care has left her on the edge of unhealthily thin, though in recent days has begun to regain a little softness at least. Her hands are, like the rest of her, quite slender, but her fingers are long and nimble. Her skin is a pale alabaster kissed with just a hint of rosy pink. Her scales look as though they were formed from pearls, creamy with an understated shimmer. Her tail is unusually long, long enough that at fully relaxed, the end actually rests on the floor - and often makes little tapping sounds as it twitches there. Presentation & Attire Kaede is both timid and shy, and it shows clearly in her demeanor. Her head is frequently bowed submissively, her arms usually curled around her body as though to comfort or protect herself. She wears a variety of clothing, though most of them tend to some shade of red, pink, or purple. Most commonly she wears a red satin tank top with either midlength pants or a short skirt. Personality Psychological Profile Kaede is a study in contrasts, even though on the surface she appears sweet and light. Her natural timidity often manifests in a complete lack of confidence in herself, both her physical prowess, and her own decisions. More than anything, she wants - arguably even needs - someone to guide and help shape her; someone she can trust and depend upon. Voice Her voice is satiny and low for her tiny size, and is almost always quiet, often to the point of becoming difficult to hear - when she speaks at all. Her tendency towards being overly quiet is heightened by her deficiency in Eorzean Common; when able to speak in her native Doman, she becomes somewhat more talkative. Philosophy & Mannerisms . History . Disclaimer: Lots of information is left out of this sheet, purposefully. Find out from her in game! Sixth Astral Era Childhood Kaede grew up in a small village in the mountains on the outskirts of Doma. A sizable majority of the small population were raen shinobi, as well as a number of samurai - and several who were proficient in both arts. The path of her life seemed obvious; with her sharp wit, small and slender frame, and nimble fingers, it seemed clear that she would follow in the footsteps of so many in the little clan, and learn the art of the shinobi. Seventh Umbral Era Adulthood Her life took a sudden, painful right turn when the Garleans invaded and destroyed her village. Kaede herself managed to hide during the slaughter, and snuck away under the cover of darkness. Seeking a safe harbor, she eventually managed to find a ship to bring her to Eorzea; though, lacking in money, her passage was won by far less pleasant coin. In Recent Times Moving Forward Since Kaede arrived in Eorzea, she has spent most of her time in Gridania, learning from "the men in trees" - the white mages. She shows much promise in the art of conjury. However, she still longs to return to the path she once took for granted, and has begun to learn the basics of knife-play, as well.

( ღ ) - Comfort in the Shadows Character's Thoughts: "From the moment our eyes met... it feels like fate." When Kaede first came to visit the Blossom and Company Teahouse and Spa, the first thing she saw beyond the grandeur of the entryway was the tall, rather grumpy raen male. She felt an instant draw to him, wanting nothing more than to sit with him and talk and stare into his lovely teal-green eyes. She wrote it off, though, as mere excitement from not only returning to Othard, but visiting such a grand establishment to boot. However, with each interaction between the two, it grew clearer that the draw she felt was much more than that, and was not one sided, either. It helped give her the courage and strength to depart from Sukaretto finally. As time passed, they drew ever closer, their hearts intertwining much as their tails habitually did. For a time, they tried to remain surreptitious, keeping things polite and professional in public, so that their budding relationship could not be used against him. Eventually, however, even that became untenable; there was simply no way to continue to deny what they shared, even if only in public. Unfortunately, as happens all too often, Ryou gradually drifted away from her, his shadow-life consuming him more and more, until she simply no longer saw him, even in the rooms they shared. Asra Mayasura, Leader of Sukaretto. ( � ) - Confusion at Work Character's Thoughts: "Would that I knew what to think..." Kaede's interactions and relationship with Asra has been complicated at best, often leaving her so confused she can barely speak. Even in the relative short period she has been a part of Sukaretto, it has run the gamut from (she thought..) potential romantic interest, to teacher, to cool professionalism, and even outright disgust. Yi'gen Jhungid, SiC of Sukaretto. ( � ) - The Cactus Character's Thoughts: "If I get all my chores done late at night, maybe I can avoid running into... crap." Kaede is more than a little confused about what to make of the Second in Command of Sukaretto. Mostly, though, she's terrified, and actively tries to avoid her; but, seeing as Asra set her to working under Yi, as well as trying to learn from her, avoiding her entirely is really not an option. Singean Vahculn, One Time Romantic Interest. ( � ) - A Sudden Storm Character's Thoughts: "I was swept up in the storm, as it is so easy to do... but now, as with most storms, it would seem to have passed." Kaede and Singean met randomly in the Quicksands, but it seemed like mere moments before she was swept away by him, lost in wonder. RP Limits I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. If something is on the play list, assume it means yes, as long as it's within the context of the current play or ongoing plot. No's are typically a hard no, and it means don't ask. ■ I will play Mature situations if they fit in with roleplay. The moment Kaede opens her mouth, it is very obvious that she is from Doma, and also that she struggles with the Eorzean tongue. ■ Damsel in Distress. Kaede is young, tiny, and timid. It is not at all unusual to see her frightened and/or overwhelmed. Those with a White Knight streak (or, though I hate to say it, a Dominant streak) can easily step in and win her easy acceptance.
