Character History

The Arlows

The Arlows were not initially so wealthy; Genma had to earn every ilm of his property and his wealth with his skills at crafting fine bows, providing wealthy adventurers and the Archer's Guild with plenty of finely-crafted weapons. This raised his wealth and fame up to a level most common-folk could only dream of, beginning to make a name for himself throughout Gridania. Genma then married his wife, Ophelia Arlow, who was the daughter of a small noble house in Ishgard.

Opehila loved to read doman literature and could have been seen reading them from time to time, which would explain the origin of her daughters' first names. Her first child was Karin, would seemed to be a bit unusual compared to other children. She didn't express her emotions much, keeping mostly to herself most of the time. Five cycles later, Opehila bore another child, Ritsu Arlow. The family seemed complete, everything seemed to look content looking from the outside, but things are not always what they seem.

Genma began teaching Ritsu how to wield the bow at a very young age, keeping her way of life in accordant to his future plans. Genma believed that the way of the bow was the true way to fight, teaching Ritsu skills and techiques that the members of the Archer's Guild would not learn until many years later in their training. Ritsu had an innate talent for archery, picking up the aspects of using a bow rather quickly. The father was quite happy with his daughters, believing that they would be fine wives for his planned arranged marriages in the future.

When Ritsu was just a toddler, Ophelia began showing signs of magical affinity not known to anyone before. This newfound ability came with reprocussions as she did not have a sense of control with it, causing her to accidentally burn down her chocobo stables. All but two of the chocobos were lost during the fire, causing her to fear for the safety of her family. This was when she decided to leave, leaving her daughters without a mother.

Karin soon learned of the arranged marriage planned for her, disagreeing with her father as it was not her choice to wed. However, Genma stated that he was her father and he knew what was best for his daughters, not stepping down from his stance. This was when fled for the Arlow estate, leaving Ritsu there when she was only ten cycles of age. Genma went in search of his daughter, but she was nowhere to be found, leaving him with only Ritsu.

He began trying to control and shelter his only daughter now, hoping that she would fulfill his wishes that her sister refused to accept. However, the man did not know that attempting to tighten the grip of Ritsu would cause her to follow suit with her sister, fleeing the Arlow Estate several cycles later.

Relationships ♥ Romantic Interest ♥ Platonic Love ● Good Standing ● Poor Standing ♥ Flynt Knoltros : Ritsu first spotted the man in the Wench as he gazed a moment too long at her ward, Ilithyia Aureus. Ilithyia promptly walked up to him, giving him quite the grief over his eyeing of her. The next time Ritsu and Flynt crossed paths was in Gridania; this was when Ilithyia finally introduced the two. Ritsu was grateful to finally meet someone that didn't fall for Ilithya antics, noticing that he was different from the rest. After this introduction, They had ran into each other several times, either by coincidence or planned, until he finally came up to her in the Bismark. The two began to realize that they had quite a bit in common; both sharing a common love for hunting among other things. Their relationship quickly blossomed, beginning to rely on one another for the obstacles that began coming their way as well as putting the well-being of each other above anything else. It was then that each had a desire to be with one another, that one could not live without the other. They solidified this bond by marrying one another, vowing that they would always be by one another's side until the end of time. ♥ Roger Holmes : Ritsu's first encounter with the miqo'te was on the steps outside the Quicksand. The Roger foolishly tried to talk of peace to her hot headed ward, Ilithyia, which caused him to end up in the fountain. Roger came across Ritsu alone and the two discovered they had much in common. Roger quickly became very dear to her, she considers him one of her dearest and closest friends. ♥ Karin Arlow : Ritsu's older sister by five cycles who fled from their estate while Ritsu was only ten cycles old. This was her decision to escape an arranged marriage, leaving Ritsu without a sibling for a time. She was discovered once again by Ritsu and her companions, Flynt and Roger. Initially Ritsu was quite leery of her sister, not remembering much about Karin due to the age she was when Karin left. However, Ritsu eventually been to warm up to her older sister once more, beginning to bond with her and speak to her about matters which an elder sister could assist with. The sisters share an unusual bond, showing similar characteristics such as wandering off random in a conversation as well as having the ability to quietly judge others. ● Valon Fyren : Ritsu met Valon back when she was employeed by Canis. At first she viewed Valon as someone to keep an eye on, but the relationship shifted to when he because someone she trusted. After discovering Canis was not the man she thought he was, Valon became an ally against him. ● Sirius Cicero : A dunefolk lalafell that became Ritsu's first employer and dear friend. At the time she met Sirius, he was in the process of resurrecting his grandfathers trading company. Sadly, it never came to pass as Sirius was always much more interested in his books and seeking out new things. He is now a well written author, even used Ritsu as a muse for many of his books.
