Occupation Artifact Hunter & Voidsent Slayer This profile is under heavy construction. Please excuse the WIPs! A P P E A R A N C E Ruran stands roughly 5'11". His build is muscular but not overly so, framing more on the leaner side. Depending on the situation, he will don anything from a suit of armor to fitted leathers and cloth, and a simple longsword accompanies him more often than not. However, what is almost always consistent is the white mask he wears. At least half of his face remains hidden by everyone, but from what can be seen, he has fair skin and deep blue-green eyes, and a scruff of blonde on his chin. Flaxen locks hang down to his shoulders, and he bears no piercings, birthmarks, or scars (which might strike someone as being strange, when considering his occupation). On rare occasions, one may spy a soft, golden stone glowing at his chest, hidden beneath his armor or folds of his shirt. Rarer still, he may be seen speaking to it. Or even through it. P E R S O N A L I T Y During the day, Ruran is honorable and kind, but very quiet and deliberately distant. Despite having the appearance of a proud knight in shining armor, one may find that he does not hold himself as such. Quiet and solemn, it’s a wonder if the emotionless mask shows any more expression than his actual face. In the evenings, he may be found sitting in the corner of a crowded tavern, drowning his thoughts in noise and liquor. He seems to be carrying quite a heavy burden, though he will do his best to keep his matters private. Sometimes he may prove to have skills in engineering, either in nimble fingers figuring out a device, or in his comprehension of the technical terms. But doing so will quickly make him uncomfortable, and so he will avoid such situations. H I S T O R Y There is little common knowledge concerning Ruran. What is known is that he hails from somewhere in the Black Shroud, he once had a wife and children, and he is driven by a 'divine mission' of sorts in the Thanalans. Any attempts to pry more details from the armored man would be met with tight lips and solemn eyes. Q U I R K S ► Terrified of explosions and firearms. Though this mage had been mostly absent in the past, he has proved time and again to be a loyal ally, especially in recent weeks...whether Ruran likes it or not. There has been tension as of late, though both have resolved toward simple, mutual quiet. ●♫ Mae Rosenthal - Ruran is uncertain what to make of this Ishgardian healer. He finds her charity and cheer to be uplifting, yet he is also ashamed in her presence, for she has seen sides of him of which he knows she disapproves. Despite this, he feels that he can trust her, and he has shared with her fond pieces of his past. ●♫ Sephora Sirenas - Though not known until recently, this storyteller and songstress seems quite keen on learning Ruran's past, and each has promised to bear one another's greatest secret. Her performances allow him to be distracted from his thoughts, which he greatly appreciates. ●♫ Xivrez'to Ithaka - Ruran can't seem to shake the carefree and insightful miqo'te named Xiv, who he has stumbled upon quite often recently in the most unlikely of places. Still, despite his hesitance, Ruran feels he can trust the scrappy optimist, and hopes to one day prove it to him. ● Esme Volari - A midlander who works at Summerford Farms. She took care of Ruran while he was injured, and he feels indebted to her. He owes the young woman a bottle of wine and a proper visit. ● Keimo Sorata - Though stammering and a little clumsy, Ruran thinks very highly of this Doman physician. He not only healed Ruran's wound, he expelled the poison that undoubtedly would have kept him bedridden for days otherwise. ● Kerai Chujitsuna - A young, mysterious raen that Ruran met at an inn. The two seem to have quite a bit in common, from losing their family, to their shared thoughtful silences, to their pale visages. A pair of ghosts. ● Kylian 'Kuyoh' Noudenet - A cheerful and talented cartographer, Ruran first met Kylian in La Noscea for an order of maps, and has since joined Ruran for explorations of local ruins. The masked man quite likes having some upbeat company. ● Temame Kajiya - Though at first wary in the raen's presence, Ruran has grown used to being in the company of Temame. She is kind and hopeful, and thankfully not quite observant enough to recognize him through his mask. ● Yuki Kurenai - A pleasant Doman woman who has bumped into Ruran a time or two. She seems interested in his work, and he is slowly learning more about her, though he quietly hopes she does not do the same. ●👤 Ari'doram - A name selectively uttered on Ruran's lips, though it always seems to be in reference to the glowing light at his chest. ● Lauriel Speravi - Ruran has only met this woman once, in an investigation of a murder scene. He knows little about her, except that she is from Gridania, is a healer, and holds herself well. ● Narcisseoix Valliere - A recent business partner, Ruran has agreed to give artifacts found in his travels to this elezen, in exchange that they do not fall into the wrong hands. What comes of it, and whether Ruran can truly trust the man, remains to be seen. ●👤 Talamh Ovagne - A mysterious woman, a name rarely heard, and seen even less.
