Jenivieve Ravendale

A bastard of the head of Ishgard's lower noble House Ravendale, Jenivieve, the eldest of three children, grew up in the circles of high society, but as the head's only illegitimate child, she was always on the outside looking in. Given free reign and unbound by noble culture, Jenivieve grew up less like a proper maiden and more like a scrapper of a girl. Favoring bar fights over high tea and rowdy dances to royal balls, the young halfbreed still knew that, regardless of what she did, she would remain wholly unwelcome by the upper crust and the common rabble both--the nobles for being a bastard, the commoners because she was of noble blood. As such she always felt alone and grew up as much, listening in on what she could of either realm, gleaning her knowledge from stolen studies, looking to the stars and wishing upon them about her escape from this life.

Nowadays, Jenivieve is a fledgling yet still accomplished thaumaturge working as the personal informant of Captain Orenji Kharn of the Rising Claws, not to mention the fiancee of Magitek mogul and overall snarky smartass Flynt Reddard. Though she has her own plans for seeing her family of sky pirates to Ishgard, she has a sinking suspicion about what really lies behind the gates of her former home...

A Minor Backstory

Kind of how Jen romanticizes about going out via her bomb-like aether.

The eldest daughter of Lord Edwarde Ravendale and a nameless Highlander woman. It is said that she was a gladitorial fighter who caused Jenivieve's father to become smitten by her ferocity and beauty. Most of Jen's life was without incident until recently; almost a year ago her father had made the terrible mistake of dealing with Dravanians, who then sold him out to the Holy See--branding the entire house as heretics. With everyone including Jenivieve rounded up, it was a miracle that somehow Jenivieve survived--or rather, was rescued. With none of her questions answered, and even more arising--how in the hells did she end up in Thanalan?--she would wander the desert in search for survival, eventually ending up under the wing of the Thaumaturge's Guild of Ul'dah. They gave her the skills necessary to survive in the world--yet, somehow, she found herself back in the Highlands.

She discovered only later on that her lightning-aspected aether was extremely volatile, and through the encouraged nigh-overuse of her thaumaturgy, it's threatened to nearly cost her her life. She of course makes no acknowledgement to the present danger she's in, regardless that she's a walking time-bomb, and instead is trying to find alternate methods in order to balance herself out.

Appearance and Other Flavors

Height/Weight: Jenivieve is among the shortest of her race, standing in at 5'6". Her weight is not revealed on account that she'd kill someone if they teased her for it. She weighs a lot lighter than she looks.

Hair: Long, straight, and blonde, and a lot of it. She tries to keep it down or partially tied back into a braid. She's thought about cutting it, but hasn't found a cute hairstyle that would suit her.

Eyes: Strongly square-shaped with emerald green irises. She does like to wear a bit of makeup, especially to accentuate the femininity of her face.

Noticeable Traits: As a bastard mix of Hyur and Elezen both, Jenivieve has slightly pointier tips on her ears. She bears more of a lithe build of body than her Highlander heritage, but she has her mother's strength. She just doesn't want to admit it.

Likes

• She enjoys a good barfight or any sort of scuffle. Oddly enough, if provoked, she also enjoys being in them. That staff of hers isn't just used as a magickal conductor--it's great for causing concussions!
• When not being rowdy, Jen enjoys peaceful nights, either curling up in bed with a book or staring at the stars. While she normally spent this time alone, she's currently enjoying these moments more with Flynt.
• Jenivieve enjoys and prefers warmer climes, and finds that Thanalan is her utmost favorite of the surrounding areas to be in. Currently, she frequents the Forgotten Springs as a form of rehabilitation and meditation...among other things.

Dislikes

• Truthfully, Jen is very distrusting of Miqo'te. It stems from her fear of cats as a whole. There are very few who have earned her trust, two of which being the Captain of the Rising Claws, Orenji, and soon to be rowdy sky pirate mate Atty.
• Colder climates. While she was born in them and very much used to it, she prefers the sun to snow.
• Getting up too early or too late. Mostly out of childish annoyance that she hasn't gotten proper beauty sleep.
• Ishgardian authorities, and mainly Ishgardian dragoons. While she does respect the style, she does not respect the people wielding the lance. She has been known to be very caustic towards them, sometimes outright accosting them. For the most part, she simply belittles the teachings of the Holy See, and rather publicly.
