GENERAL INFORMATION

Aven Scorchfield is an honorable Xaela Au Ra who has a reputation for wandering. He spends his time adventuring and helping those in need, though he rarely stays around long enough to gain recognition for his deeds. He normally wears black plate to hide his appearance as Au Ra are not always well received everywhere he has traveled. Should one save his life he will state he owes them a debt and seek to offer something great in return. He tries to live in the moment after having been on deaths doorstep and tries to make the most of the rare moments of beauty he finds in the world. He feels that he is a source of righteous judgment in the world despite his slightly twisted moral code.

APPEARANCE

Standing at seven fulms, Aven is tall with black horns jutting from the side of his head. His black hair is neatly kept despite the amount of time he wears a helmet, and his eyes are a striking shade of green. He holds himself in a proud and confident manner and seems to move at complete ease despite almost always wearing heavy plate.

He is actually at medium height for his race and loathes being reminded of it, though he has a strong build for any Au Ra male, with a fair bit of muscle for his constant effort and the plate mail he's usually in. He prefers to dress in black, gold, and browns when wearing more casual garb.

PERSONALITY

Aven is out going and boisterous if he knows you or is around friends. Around those he does not know or like he can be quiet, reserved and cautious. He is louder than he should be and never backs down from a challenge. He is very honorable and follows a strick personal moral code which he keeps written in a little black book on his person. He holds respect and honor above all else. Even when he doesn't like you he will still be respectful.

Disrespectful actions will bring him to a quick anger point. when he is angry, it is small at first but will slowly boil over and then explode. He tries very hard to maintain his anger lest he find himself in a dreaded battle rage once more.

L I K E S ■ Honorable Combat. Aven loves a good fight, but he desires for both combatants to put their best foot forward. He seeks to have a fight he can tell a story about later, rather than to take a life. ■ Helping Those In Need. Self Righteous and a strong sense of Justice means Aven goes out of his way to help those in need. He takes pleasure simply from knowing he made a differnce and it acts as a sort of penance for what he feels are past sins. ■ Coffee. He is addicted to the dark liquid and is rather unfunctioning each morning before his daily cup of Joe.	D I S L I K E S ■ Disrespect. Aven holds honor and respect as his top priorities. Those that can follow neither are quick to anger him and face his Axe. ■ Cowardice. Those unable to take action are doomed to put their fate in the hands of others. The very thought terrifies Aven and he finds those unwilling to take hold of their destiny fools and unworthy of his time. ■ Oppressive Leaders. A clan leader's job is always to look out for the best of their people, those that put themselves first or abuse their subjects are quick to incur Aven's wrath. ■ Harsh Sunlight. Having spent so long int he dark forests and donned in black Plate, he finds the brightness uncomfortable and prefers the gentle touch of indirect lighting from under the forest canopy. HISTORY

OUR STORY BEGINS Section Name Aven is a Xaela Au Ra who has wandered long and far from his homelands. In his teenage years, his nomadic family was slain by a rival family. He took an arrow through his chest and was left for dead. Aven was extremely lucky to have the condition of Situs Inversus (which he had no knowledge of) so the arrow had only priced his lung and not his heart. Aven was on deaths door and for a moment and he might have actually died, but a wandering conjurer had seen the conflict and rushed to the site after the attackers had looted and fled. The conjurer healed his wound and left before Aven ever saw his face. Though the wound was healed a scar forever remains upon his chest. (depending on Au Ra Naming conventions, if Aven does not fit, he would have discarded his old name in his shame of defeat. He would have picked up his current name over the course of his travels.) His family and friends now gone, he was wracked with guilt for being the sole survivor. He lay among the fallen until his hunger clawed at him from the inside. When he could bear it no longer, he took up a broken sword and headed out to hunt. Everything he did felt numb, he moved and acted only to survive. He wandered away from the scent of death that lingered heavy in the air, his guilt still hanging heavy in his heart. Eventually he found himself far outside of Au Ra lands and found himself in Hyr territory. He was feared and was chased away from the town. He lingered on the outskirts doing what he could to survive, stealing food and new clothing. One day monsters attack the town. While the guards had it mostly under control, a wall was broken and many civilians were endangered. Aven leapt into action not thinking of his own safety. He held off the creatures protecting those he could until reinforcements arrived. The family he saved vouched for his bravery and Aven was allowed to be among the town. He worked any odd job he could find gathering gil, equipment and food. His martial prowess did not go unnoticed either. He trained to join their guard and put forth great effort to show his loyalty. To hide his abnormal appearance he commissioned and suit of black plate armor which he wore day in and day out. He was intimidating in appearance but many of the villagers knew of his caring attitude and willingness to help. He found his larger size and great strength lended him to use a great sword of axe, wielding the large two handed weapons to devastating effect against the local threats. One day a Coerthan hunting party came through the town. They said they were hunting dragons and heretics. Fearfull of his life and his reptilian nature, Aven fled and resumed his nomadic lifestyle. He kept his armor donned whenever he thought he might be seen as to keep his identity and race safe. He hated his own cowardice, and he hated his weakness that forced him to hide, so he began to see out ways to become stronger. He wanted strength to protect what he cared for. Strength to be free of anyone who would oppress him, and strength so that one day he might find those who slew his family and send them to the void.

The name Aven was originally inspired many years ago from a Magic the Gathering card, Aven Windreader. No matter what universe Aven resides in, he always has his chest scarred.
