Character
Yunegen is an open book about many things, and if you were to ask her tribe about her the stories would flow freely and sing her praise. Despite her youth she is a woman of many talents. A scout, hunter, strategist, and warrior. Beside Qünbish, she helped navigate their people from Othard to Eorzea by way of the Gyr Abania land bridge despite the area's occupation. Her prowess as a scout vital to their safe passage.
They will also speak of her skill with a bow, though she rarely uses one anymore, and her exceptional aim. Of her love of books and sweet tea, but her avoidance of children. They'll tell of her lineage as the granddaughter of a former Khan and about how she used to be far more ambitious. About how she has a keen eye for salvage. They may even whisper about how she'll go days without sleep sometimes but they won't tell you why if questioned.
Description
Yunegen is tall for an Au Ra woman and she prides herself on that fact, frequently dressing to accentuate this feature; long legs left bare more often than not. She lacks the modesty of many city dwellers, comfortably displaying smooth red skin and dark scales alike without concern about the judgments of others. Leather, furs, and fine silks make up her wardrobe, further decorated with carved stone beads and bone charms, with the occasional bit of silver or gold. The most notable decoration being a single Xaela scale suspended from her throat by a leather thong. She is possessed of an athletic femininity, the soft curves of her hips and bust contrasted by a taut stomach, arms and legs that are well muscled, and a piercing stare that seems to suggest a subtle danger. Her body has been toned by a nomadic life where the laziness associated with convenience and the physical consequences of such a lifestyle are completely foreign concepts.
Her hair is pulled into a multitude of small expertly woven braids, the ends of each are encased in a deep red clay that has a pleasant scent and prevents any strands from rebelling. Each braid is pierced by a small hollow silver ring and when they move they chime against one another quietly. That she is capable of moving in silence at all tells of a practiced discipline. Her face has traditionally pleasing features (a small nose, high cheek bones, full lips, and delicate brows), and is almost always painted. White or black cutting a swath across both fiery eyes from horn to horn, the color disappearing into her hairline. Those familiar with tribal custom may recognize this as the paint worn by scouts of high regard. For a refugee from war-torn Othard, she has a surprising lack of scars. Only one visible. It clearly originated from a gunshot that caused the black scales of her right shoulder to scar in a rosette pattern as the projectile passed straight through from back to front. It is an old scar, likely having been acquired years prior to her long trek to Eorzea.
Her voice brings to mind smoke and velvet, and while fluent in Eorzean her words are colored by the remnants of an Othard accent, sometimes reverting to her native language regardless of mixed company. These words (<denoted thus>), generally recognized and understood by other Xaela, flow from one to the next like water.
Behavior
Yunegen is quick to smile and slow to anger, preferring to reason and debate rather than resort to violence. A trait not uncommon among the Malqir, who place a higher value on wit and strategy over brute force and violence. Profoundly aware that an ally is better than an enemy even in scenarios where hostility might be an easier solution. She seems comfortable regardless of whether she's alone or in a crowd and can be found both lurking in the wilderness among her people as well as mingling with mixed crowds in the confines of the city. She is easy to speak with but hesitant of overly generous strangers, preferring an equal trade over gifts and undeserving praise.
She is an eager learner and happy to share her culture with curious outsiders, as well as a drink or two.
Combat
Yunegen is profoundly aware of her surroundings at almost all times, and has been known to carry a rifle on her person. She has the physique of a distance runner and the upper body strength of an archer despite carrying neither bow nor quiver. It is rare to see her in a combat scenario, so outside of her tribe there are few who know what to expect. If one were to guess, agility would be a wise assumption.
