Jingling Bangles

You'll hear her before you see her, the clear ringing sounds of the many bangles of varying metals, designs and purposes all jangling together when she walks. Most are in her hair or along her horns, strung on chains or beaded lengths. Rings cover her long, slender fingers, some with stones, some without; sometimes packed so thick her skin can barely be seen around them. Necklaces of numerous lengths are often present, pendants strewn along them. Despite this obvious penchant for decoration, her face is free of piercings.

Her clothing is similarly chosen, cut in stylish fashions and good quality cloth. Even the looser, 'frumpier' outfits have a distinct flair to them with gold and silver embroidery tucked the cuffs and collar, jewelry peeking out at every opportunity. Her sense of style usually appears quite different from anything imported from Doma; gauze, gold, ornate and loosely flowing. Though these aspects are not always shown in her clothes, some small part always manages to sneak into everything she wears. She makes no secret how fond she is of finery. Nor does she hide the makeup she wears, primarily the sleek black liner about her eyes and dark stain on her lips. Pale skin is smooth and soft but she does nothing to hide the obvious dark circles that suggest many sleepless nights.

Physically she is small, short and seemingly frail, her slight build and ashen skin lending an almost sickly appearance. Delicate, rounded features are set in her heart-shaped face, framed by white-gold hair that manages to mix ringlets, tight curls and waves in an expertly arranged cascade to mimic mussed tangles while remaining immaculate. Eyelashes match her hair; nearly white, thick and long. Her eyes are large and low-lidded with pale gold limbal rings that seem to glow in certain lights. A pert nose and full lips stained darker finish her face, with a dusting of odd dark and light speckles over the bridge of her nose and cheeks that resemble freckles. Though she is quite slender and her bosom near nonexistent, she has an obvious source of pride in her wide, amply curving hips and often dresses to show off the skin of her thighs.

The scales adorning her body, horns and tail have a decidedly ornamental shape; curling and coiling in delicate shapes as if they were filigree embroidery or carved molding instead of naturally occuring scales. In sharp contrast to her physicality, her tail is quite thick and long, almost clumsy with its size. Despite this, she still strings decorative cords and bands over it like the rest of her. Nothing of her subtle accent or mannerisms suggests a Doman upbringing or background... though those acquainted with merchants or travelers may find something familiar about her high, lilting voice.

Choir of the Stars

Those gifted with aethersight will easily glimpse a subtle aura about her of shimmering gold and floating motes of pinprick light. If one squints, they may make out the outlines of seven large eight-pointed stars that hover constantly just above her curls. The one in the center almost seems to be shaped differently... but the vision is usually so fleeting that defining it properly is difficult.

A strange sense of mysticism clings to her like a second skin, from every gesture to the way she watches things for far too long. Often astral magic seeps from her in small bits; stars along her fingers or hiding amongst her jewelry. Her merry demeanor is tinged with a dreamy quality, distantly delighted. Looking at her brings to mind glimmering rays of light and the echoes of chimes just barely heard.

Two distinct and different decks of cards are always on her person, tucked away in a satchel when not resting in her hands. The thicker, elaborately decorated deck is the more common one and she will often thumb through it facedown, only to flip over a card and study the face silently before replacing it in the deck. Whatever prompts this miniature ritual can be anything from a passerby, a change in topic or a shift in the weather.

Her services as a healer, mystic and ritualist are advertised in most of the cities with listings describing herself not as a fortune teller but a purveyor of insight and self-reflection, with careful insistence that she will not convey shallow fates like 'tall, dark strangers.' Many of her bangles exude a soft pulse of aether due to various enchantments for personal purposes.

The Murmurs of Others

★ "She is a strange one, yes? Both enigmatic and exotic, she has a way of speaking that draws you in close. Then, when she leaves, with the sounds of bells ringing in your ears, you have to wonder if she was ever there at all - like a memory." -Edda Eglantine

★ "Lady Ashmira, she finds joy in all things. Is not afraid to taste it, breathe it in, or feel it. But, when there is someone in pain or in need she will put all those things down and give her all to help them. Nophica shines in her eyes for such generosity." -Jancis Milburga
