Sixth Astral Era
Childhood
Kazukata was born in a small village of Raen in the mountains surrounding Doma

Seventh Umbral Era
The Doman Revolt
After Doma was conquered, Kazukata did not join the Garlean army to try and gain citizenship. The idea of turning around and trying to curry favor with Doma's conquerors left a poor taste in Kazukata's mouth. He also neglected to return to his mountain home, instead settling down as a farmer in the fertile countryside, where he attempted to live as normal a life as possible under Garlean rule. For nearly 20 years, he lived uneventfully in the Doman countryside as a farmer, and though it was rarely easy or pleasant, he managed to eke out a living. Together with his wife, Asa, Kazukata managed to successfully avoid the worst of the Empire's harsh rule and went largely forgotten.

But when the Emperor passed on and the Doman revolt began in earnest, the allure of a free Doma was too much for Kazukata to resist, and he left to enlist with the revolutionary forces against the protests of his wife.

As the war turned against the Domans, Kazukata was assigned to the retreating Doman army's rearguard. As the war approached the capital, he received a grievous wound, a deep sword thrust between his ribs. He didn't awake until two days later, and found himself on one of the Doman refugee ships, his homeland naught but ash behind him. Just like that, the war had ended while he had been unconscious. He would never again see his home, or his wife, who had most likely been executed just for being married to him. Everything he had ever known or lived for had come crashing down while he had been asleep. The loss crippled Kazukata, and he wouldn't recover until long after he came to Eorzea.

In Recent Times
Life in Eorzea
As other Doman refugees flocked to Mor Dhona, Kazukata instead became a vagrant, wandering Eorzea doing whatever odd jobs he could. Still feeling the loss of Doma and recovering from his own injuries, he seemed a dead man walking and barely managed to make ends meet. He spent a year drifting from inn to inn, dead-end job to dead-end job, drink to drink, without any attempt to better his life, bitterly remembering his homeland and the life he had lost. His wound recovered more slowly than it should have, antagonized by the hard labor he often had to resort to to get by, but his mind took even longer to mend.

But as he spent his days dwelling on the past, Kazukata would occasionally hear stories about Eorzea's many adventurers. Though he shirked the company of others, he would still idly listen to the bards' ballads retelling whatever heroics the Warrior of Light had done that week or hear an occasional story about Eorzea's other, lesser-known heroes. At first, he listened out of boredom, but slowly, they grew on him. He grew interested in the tales of Eorzea, where, if you listened to the bards, there were Primals every five yalms and Garlean assaults every five months, but the people still kept on, always remaining stalwart against any encroaching danger, no matter how horrific or overbearing. To Kazukata, it had seemed ridiculous that Eorzea should still be standing at all and that the people were surviving through sheer willpower. Their continued survival was nothing short of baffling, but also struck a chord that began to rouse Kazukata from his stupor and gave him something he had been missing since he had left Doma: hope.

Eventually, Kazukata's interest in these stories became an interest in the people of Eorzea, what made them tick, and how they could survive against such preposterous odds when his Doma had crumbled like dust. And the more he learned, the more Kazukata was inspired by the denizens of Eorzea and came to care about their struggles. Inspired by the tales of Eorzea's adventurers, Kazukata eventually resolved to join their ranks, and once more took up his spear, hoping to become an inspiration for others as other adventurers have become an inspiration for him.

NPC Rumors

Some of these rumors are untrue, speculation, or are greatly exaggerated.

◢ Common Rumors - Easily overheard. Use these freely!
"Yeah, he used to come in here a lot, get lost in his cups. Now that you mention it, though, I haven't seen him in a few months. Wonder if he died somewhere?" — Bar Patron.
"He did a trial leve a few weeks ago. Did it bloody fast, too. Don't know where he learned to use that spear, though. Certainly wasn't taught by the Wood Wailers, that's for sure." — '.
◢ Uncommon Rumors - A little more difficult to hear. Use sparingly or ask first!
"He's alive? He barely ate, much less spoke when we were at sea, and then once we came ashore, he just vanished. I had assumed the worst." — Doman Refugee.
"When I worked with him, he mentioned something about being a soldier once, back in Doma. If half the rumors about what happened over there are true, then that would explain why the guy barely bats an eye at a charging Goobbue." — Fellow Adventurer.
◢ Rare Rumors - Very rarely overheard. Please ask before using!
"He muttered some lady's name into a drink once when he was half asleep. Guess his missus dumped him?" — Bar Patron.

IC Inventory
The following items are things that this individual carries on their person at all times. These are noted for pickpockets, and those watching her closely. This information is meant to be a prompt for insight and is not to be meta-gamed, though feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in RP (pickpocketing, a search, etc) with use of a simple /tell.

RP Limits
I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. If something is on the play list, assume it means yes, as long as it's within the context of the current play or ongoing plot. No's are typically a hard no, and it means don't ask.

RP Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. Longer plots that are meant to run for more than a few quick RP's, please feel free to send me a tell so we can work out a good reason for our characters to get to know one another. I'm always looking for RP, unless I'm actively spamming PvE content.

Player Note
There is a lot of information on this character wiki, but it is by no means completely comprehensive. There are chunks of backstory that are left intentionally vague so that details can be later added as developed through creative writing or in role-play revelation. Feel free to use Common or Uncommon rumors freely, if you want to use a Rare Rumor as a plot hook or to spark RP, I would ask that you send me a tell first, to make certain it's alright.

Tropes & Explanations
A trope is a convention or device that is often found in creative works. In this case, the tropes below describe my character either in part, or as a whole. Their background, personality, appearance, etc, most of them can be described in the tropes below.
Trope Tropes are devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations. On the whole, tropes are not clichés.
