Neutral Good General Information ❝ Everyone needs find their own dance on the battlefield, eh? ❞ Scarlet Feather is a proud example of her Hellsguard Kin. A tough, resilient Roegadyn, proud of her achievements and quick to step into the dance of combat. She strives to be a true hero, a stalwart for Eorzea. Despite everything, she holds a cheerful optimism that is very hard to break. Clad in all red and always ready and willing to fight for a good cause, she makes for a solid ally. Hair & Eyes White, light purple undertones, kept pushed back away from her eyes and kept to just above shoulder length. Fluffy in texture, and low-maintenance. Her eyes are vibrant, softly glowing lavender, and sharp. Physique & Markings Well built is an understatement; Scarlet has a well- tuned, chiseled physique, covered in a myriad of scars and lightning-like marks. Her left arm is near covered in the pattern, alongside various nicks and burns from battle. An axe-wound to the chest near splits her in two, healed aetherically. A bad injury to the left shoulder left its mark, and a scar across her left eye. She wears no makeup, sans her permanent crimson facepaint, a good-luck charm of sorts. Hygiene & Attire It is reasonably rare to see Scarlet out of her battlegarb. Whilst she has learnt to dress casually for certain occasions, she feels most comfortable when prepared for any eventuality. A fondness for asymmetry, and a tendency to have something over her eyes permeates her style. Still, it is kept clean and well-maintained, near religiously, and the same is true of her form. Low maintenance, clean-kept, though if she does get messy she is not the type to make a fuss. Personality Psychological Profile Scarlet believes herself a hero. She is confident, cheery, charismatic and very driven. Whilst she can appear overly-optimistic and near naive in her viewpoints, she believes so utterly in her cause and her own justice that it can be quite hard to tell her otherwise. She is, however, far from the best behaved; she's prone to mischief, and is quick of tongue to friend and foe alike. Having spent most of her life in the field, she's more battlesmart than booksmart, and can be near dumbfounded at times, but when she has a chance to apply her mind it can be surprising how sharp it is. Not to say that she's perfect; her confidence can and has backfired on her, leaving her with a battle bravado that is second to none but also makes her a prime target on the front line. It takes an awful lot to make her truly angry, though injustice is quick to flare her ire. Those that know her well, however, know the scariest part of her mood is when she grows silent, especially if it's in combat. A quiet Scarlet is one ready to unleash all she has. Voice Low but warm and friendly. Varies from a chuckling cheeriness to a slightly clipped formality. Is rarely quiet, or soft-spoken, and is not the best at inside voices. Low register in terms of formality, except when lipping off a villain. Philosophy & Mannerisms A simple philosophy; she believes that justice surmounts all. Her justice is one that does right by the people, protecting those who cannot stand on their own, helping those in need, and ensuring that wrongdoing is brought to the light and to account. She is aware that she, like others, are capable of mistakes, but as long as the effort is made to better oneself she can be quite forgiving. Her mannerisms are very practised; oftentime she near poses herself, ensuring her best angle is always presented. When nervous, she has a tendency to grip old injuries, and when thinking on pressing matters will often look up to the sky, as if seeking consultation. Her style is flashy, but is certainly not style over substance. For her size, she's quite nimble, using specific footworks to channel aether to augment her blows, though she is willing to take a hit for the sake of getting one in return. More of a frontline attacker than a defender, she will be quick to draw fire to give others the chance to retreat, but to this day has yet to retreat herself. OOC Note Scarlet's fighting style can be over the top, but I am happy to tone it down to more realistic if you'd prefer. I tend to keep combat simple; either we freeform it out, or we roll. Whoever rolls highest lands the blow, dodges the blow, etc.. Otherwise, go wild! History Disclaimer: This is a brief overview, and should not be taken as definitive. Sixth Astral Era Childhood Born as the youngest in a family of four, Scarlet had several role models to look up to as a child. Her blood was of that which guarded the closest Ward of the Hellsguard, and her kin were quick to step up to the mantle in manner both academic and aetheric. Scarlet was not. Not for lack of trying, but she simply did not have the skill for it. Seeing her family let down and shamed for her lack of talent, she opted to take the traditional route out at an earlier age than she should have; Lance in hand, she left the mountains with a group of friends, making new names and forging their own path as mercenaries. Unfortunately, their beginning optimism was short lived; the group met their end travelling through Coerthas at the Pilgrim's Pass, ambushed by Heretics during what should have been a simple lookout job. Scarlet survived, casting their bodies into the waters, and returned to find her employers unsympathetic, not even remembering their names. And so, she left, heading south along caravan routes, determined to do better. On the way, she lost her taste for less savoury work, and opted to bring about justice and goodness wherever she went. Her goal? To become a hero so renowned that she could tell stories of those fallen friends, so that when she died they would not be forgotten. She quickly began to make a reputation as a stalwart, loyal and trustworthy Roegadyn, and soon had a myriad of achievements under her belt. Soon, she found herself called to service, and through a mixture of happenstance and wishing to outdo the Seawolves, she joined the Maelstrom. Her first turn of service was at the Battle of Carteneau, and she spent much of it defending her allies and rescuing innocents caught up in the carnage. She remembered watching the Warrior of Light disappear into Light, saved from the hell on Eorzea the battlefield had become. Seventh Umbral Era Adulthood After the Calamity, she swore to become a greater hero than even the Warrior of Light, and rose up the ranks swiftly. Eventually, she became the leader of a strike team dedicated to high risk, no rescue missions. One such mission, securing Azys Lla and ensuring the Garlemand forces could not strip it of all resources, ended with her squad used as experimentation bait, and herself tortured. Not long after this, she stepped down from the Maelstrom, becoming a Free agent again and wandering about Eorzea, seeking out injustice and striking it down wherever it may arise. She ended up stumbling across word of the Drakensguard, a militia involved in a Realm-wide initiative. She returned to Limsa, inquiring at her old Grand Company, and received their blessing to join their ranks. She quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a Squire of the Drakensguard. In Recent Times Moving Forward There, she served for a period of time before the movement to liberate Ala Mhigo began. Having been personally called in to lend assistance at the behest of the Maelstrom, she felt it her duty to attend. This conflicted with Drakensguard's movements, and so she departed from the company. During her time out the Fringes, she helped forge relationships between various Resistance groups and the Alliance. Until the attack struck at Rhalgar's Reach. She was present for this, and tried to buy others time to escape by personally throwing herself in the way of the Vicecount. Needless to say, it did not end well. For a time, she stuck with some former allies from the Guard, but eventually she parted ways on a positive note, though the events causing it were far from. Once more, Scarlet had lost a close comrade, and this time she needed to remove herself from the situation to better handle it. After some time, she returned to her friends, her comrades in arms, but something was...different. At first she kept her identity hidden somewhat, but it fell apart thanks to one comrade's inability to hold their tongue. This led to an old friend turned enemy tracking them down, always lurking in the distance, a constant threat. She could not feel relaxed about them again now, sans with one exception. A brief intimacy with someone reminded her why she had left. Not out of selfish intent, but to keep them all safe. And so, she left again, disappearing into those painful snows of Coerthas, helping those she can and looking for old connections to help her disappear for now. Their relationship was drained due to her being a failure to the family line, and this would likely maintain were they to meet again. Still, she harbours little ill towards them for it. Though she would never doubt his integrity, or his battle prowess, his predisposition to snack in arduous times, alongside his amorous attempts towards her, have left her proud to call them friend and unsure if she should call them more than. ✔ Positive ♦ Friend Fenris Jargoniew: One of her oldest friends and allies, Fenris is one Miqo'te that she would drop near everything to rush to defend, if the need arises. Though she can be a little rough with the young lad, she sees them almost like the little brother she never had. Almost. ✔ Positive ♦ Friend Ys'nir Seikatsu: Ys'Nir is Scarlet's Knight, and she her Squire. Whilst she's not entirely sure how to treat that professionally, she'd attest to feeling quite happy about the resident punch professor. ✔ Positive ♦ Friend Omega Enenra: Omega and Scarlet haven't known each other too long, but a mix of camaraderie and a shared link in their past has made her quick firm friends with the Au'Ra. She wouldn't admit it, but that link has made her a little protective. ✔ Positive ♦ Friend Pheli Nosuk: Admittedly, Scarlet doesn't know a great deal about Pheli yet, but what little she knows has painted the picture of a strong and brave mother, and she can't respect that enough. ✔ Positive ♦ Friend Zuuto Luuto: Scarlet is protective of the Little Lord. She sees them as too young for the trials of combat, but would never wish to deny another their calling. She greatly enjoys their little moments together, even though she's very much in a different world from Zuuto's lofty heights. � Unsure Gae Swan: The fellow Hellsguard seems a well meaning fellow. Scarlet admires their devotion to justice, and their polite nature. But there's something about the Roe that confuses Scarlet. Former Acquaintances � Unsure ♡ Complicated Totobani Kokobani: Totobani, or Toto, was her second in command when she was Lieutenant in the Maelstrom. They were as close as comrades could be, always able to trust each other complicitly. She saw him die in front of him during a mission in Azys Lla. Now, it seems he's back about, and working for an old enemy, leaving Scarlet a mess on how to view his actions, or indeed to figure how he survived after that. ✖ Negative Scorpis Nal Vixis: The man who captured her squad, used her squad as experimentation fodder, killed her second and tortured her to an inch of her life. Even if he wasn't a Garlean abomination, she would not hesitate to strike if he dared show his face. Though such bravado would be betraying an internal fear of the beast. ✔ Positive Von Sayrillont: The Commander and Scarlet don't always see eye to eye, but she has a respect for her role amongst their ranks. After all, she knows too well it's tough to have lives in your hands. However, they departed ways on different ideology. She still wishes him well. ✔ Positive ♦ Friend Mamaka Maka: As her superior officer, and one willing to reach out after the prior transgression with Bebebop Bebop, Scarlet has nothing but the utmost respect for this Lalafel. Especially after how she picked herself up after their ordeal. ✔ Positive ♦ Friend Bebebop Bebop Family (Not blood) : The Good Doctor and Scarlet joined the Drakensguard at the same time. A duel went awry, and the Lalafel nearly died. Hardly the best of impressions. Since then, they've managed to forge a bond so strong the giant Roe is quick to call the little Lala a sister, and considers her as such.
