Trivia Favorite Food: Hingan Stew Favorite Drink: Sencha Tea Favorite Color: White Keiji was the prince of a village settled upon the banks of the One River, not far from a forest many residents have come to know as the Jade Forest, close to the hidden kingdom of Sawa. It was a small village, and the palace was little exception, consisting of only a hommaru and ninomaru as its main fortified courts, rather than the three that larger palaces consisted of. Most of those of the royal bloodline in their clan lived within the hommaru where the main keep (tenshu) was situated. All others of the clan resided within the ninomaru (second court). The village lay mostly outside the main eastern gate, protected on two sides by the palace walls. Keiji's father, Higashikuni (Higa to some), resided over the palace and village as their Lord, and leader of the Genmaru clan. His father taught Keiji everything he knew about Bushido and was a kind Lord, often venturing outside the palace walls into the village to observe, sometimes speak with its residents. His mother, who died giving birth to Kagerou, was named Ikeda. Keiji was the only son, though had a younger sister, Kagerou; however, she died at a young age due to an unexplainable disease (possibly linked to a complication from birth). Keiji was the heir of the clan, destined to one day rule in his father's place. However, before that day could come to pass, the nation of Doma decided to overthrow the Imperial influence within Yanxia, an insurrection that, sadly, failed. Among the different villages razed and hit by the Garlean Empire, Keiji's was hit amongst the hardest, likely most of it, including the palace itself, burnt to the ground, many of its citizens captured or slain in the battle. Most of the village was abandoned, and the villagers were evacuated into the palace for protection, but the Empire's seige eventually broke through. Anything of value (including the weapons of Keiji's personal armory) was confiscated or looted by the Imperials as they breached into the ninomaru then the hommaru. For his resistance, his father was killed by the commander of the forces sent to his village. Keiji, himself, was taken captive, along with one of his retainers, Gyodo, where he was held hostage somewhere in Yanxia while the Empire razed most of Doma. It wasn't until about 2 years later when Keiji was to be transported to Ilsabard, likely never to be seen again, except the transport ship was waylaid by a Limsan Privateer, intent upon looting the prisoner ship. In the confusion, Keiji and his retainer managed to escape from their prisons. However, in order to secure Keiji's escape, Gyodo stayed to fight off Garleans, presumed to have died. After stowing away upon the privateer ship, Keiji eventually made his way to the unfamiliar lands of Eorzea, first arriving in Limsa Lominsa. He spoke very little Eorzean then, knowing only a few key phrases, which eventually led him to a ship bound for Ul'dah where he'd heard rumors of the Domans passing through there. After some time spent in Ul'dah, learning of the common cultures and practicing his Eorzean more, he eventually embarked upon a journey to Mor Dhona where he heard the Domans who fled Yanxia had settled, hoping to find some semblance of his clan. Unfortunately, he found no traces of his clan. Discouraged, and fearing they had all died, he returned to Ul'dah, but no sooner than he stepped off the Airship did he reunite with the princess of a neighboring clan, Kitsuno Ishida. At one point, Keiji was one of her suitors, and, currently she seems more like a sister to him. From there, he met others from her clan until he finally reunited with Gyodo, believed come back from the dead. With hope sparked anew, Keiji is slowly beginning to make a new start in Eorzea, starting with building a new forge for new Doman weapons, including a proper Daisho for himself. From there, he plans to make contacts with those from Doma, and perhaps eventually join the Resistance to reclaim their homeland. Though he is a Doman Prince, however, to outsiders of the Doman nation, he simply refers to himself as a wandering samurai and swordsmith.
