History
▪ Born in Ishgard to minor Hyur nobility house, Desrosiers
▪ (Brief house overview) Old blood, original members clawed their way to the elevated standing, then worked tirelessly to maintain it. Some intermarriage to keep the bloodline "pure", very strict about marrying up and siring only Midlander children. After some rigorous time and work, Desrosiers became a prominent name, boasting superior numbers and resources. Enjoyed a steady century of prosperity and then a following century of gradual decline, a suffering culmination of illness, infertility and various scandals. The Desrosiers house is now a shadow of its former glory, barren and shamed.
▪ Hugh and Cecily Desrosiers sought to restore the house's prestige, mercilessly attempting to groom their children, Aislinn and Wilmund, into their visions of perfection. Wilmund was steered toward knighthood, and Aislinn was subjected to a slew of etiquette lessons, prepping the girl for upward movement through marriage.
▪ Wilmund complied, but Aislinn and her wild heart yearned for more, for adventure and freedom. She rebelled at every turn; sneaking out to drink or romp in the stables, wearing trousers under her dresses, visiting the blacksmith to gander at the weapons, etc. The more her parents tried to reel her in, the further she strayed.
▪ Wilmund is pressured to climb higher, to endeavor for a position as a Dragoon. He bends to the command, despite Aislinn's protests, and labors diligently; he tells Aislinn it makes him happy, but she can see the strain and toll. She begs him to stop, but he does not relent.
▪ A year before the end of the Dragonsong War, Wilmund ventures out to complete a heroic trial that will earn him the title and rank of 'Dragoon'. Days pass...Weeks...Months. He does not return, his body never retrieved. Aislinn mourns and their parents strike his name from their memories, accusing their son of failure and disappointment.
▪ Cecily and Hugh, with one shot remaining, shift their sole attention to Aislinn. She suffocates under the weight of their demands and expectations, and taking her own life briefly crosses her mind. It is the thought of Wilmund which keeps her upright; someone must linger to remember him, to sing his praise. But she knows she can not stay.
▪ Her parents introduce her to a suitor, a man they are arranging for her to wed in the coming months; Biorn Gagnon, a Midlander from a small, albeit wealthy family and noble line. Aislinn detests the sniveling man from the start, and it is this turn of events which strengthens her final resolve. A fortnight later, in the dead of night, Aislinn cuts her hair short, sheds her dress for more practical garments, shoulders what little supplies she has procured, and vanishes from Ishgard.
▪ She kept her head low as she traveled over the next week, moving quickly and under cloak. In Gridania, she set up temporary residence at The Roost, proclaiming her surname as 'Dorne', should anyone inquire, and picked up a lance, honoring her brother and choosing her own path.

L I K E S

Incredibly proud and out to prove herself, Aislinn strives to do her best in everything she attempts. Nothing short of perfection is tolerated.

D I S L I K E S

Abhors feeling patronized and is slow to reveal her story, lest the listener offer sympathy. Rarely will she accept aid of any kind.

Q U I R K S

Easily prone to irritation, and expresses this openly through gestures: shoves her bangs aside, crosses her arms, narrows her eyes, etc.
Finds the idea of 'relaxation' to be a waste of time - she would always rather be doing something, and when she moves, it's briskly, as though perpetually in a hurry.
Speaks brusquely and with little regard for small talk/social pleasantries. Does not frequently laugh or smile; when she does, it's more often a smirk or bitter chuckle.

Wilmund Desrosiers ( ) ( NPC ) - Older Brother
Pliable and compassionate, Wilmund did not fare well under their parents insistence. He strove to make them proud, bending to their whims, despite whatever preference or opinion he might harbor. He became a knight, per their wishes, and was training to join the ranks of the Dragoons, though he had little interest in joining the war effort. Alas, it cost him dearly - he ventured out to fulfill a trial, and never returned. The family presumes him dead, though his body was never discovered.
Biorn Gagnon ( ) ( NPC ) - Fiancé

Steel Crag ( ) - My Thief
Days after her arrival to Gridania, Steel failed in an attempt to pick pocket Aislinn, and after she chased him into the Carline Canopy for a confrontation, the two shared a drink...or three. It was here a defining deal was struck; Steel would kill her parents and fiancé, and Aislinn would pay him with whatever piece of her he wanted. The two bicker intensely, but share a mutual attraction, one which blossomed passionately after a failed contract led to an ambush. He's stolen her heart, and she's taken to dubbing him "my thief".

OOC INFORMATION

Personal RP Limits
■ I will play mature content/themes (violence, drugs/alcohol, language, sex, crime, etc) so long as it fits my character and makes sense in the context of the story. ERP is a-ok, but I like a story with my smut! Feel free to speak with me privately on this. I LOVE depth in my RPs and darker themes are my favorite - lets get creative and crazy!
■ Long term or short term, frequent or infrequent - all up for discussion, and will vary! Also, I do not strictly limit my characters to only one romantic/sexual partner, so if you see they are already involved, don't let that discourage your interest! Always feel free to ask, I'm very friendly and open to talk/plot.
■ I will not allow the permanent death of my character, nor am I interested in pure smut without story or context. Not really interested in 'slice of life/small talk' RP either, just...bores me.
Contact
■ Balmung, PST. If you see me in-game, feel free to send me a tell, even if I seem busy or am AFK - I will get back to you! Please, no walk-ups, unless you find me with the 'RP' tag on or if I am at an RP event (I can be shy and will get flustered if you ICly approach me randomly.) I love to discuss potential plots and relationships before diving into an RP, so lets chat a little beforehand! If I am not online, or if you prefer, you can ping me on discord at deerest#3679; I am frequently available that way, and I do RP over discord as well!

Potential Plot Hooks
■ Aislinn's brother, Wilmund, might still be out there in the world, alive. Perhaps you have a lead she can chase, with or without your company.
■ As Aislinn did not fake her death, it will be clear she ran from home and it is likely her parents would have sent someone out to retrieve her.
■ Would LOVE for Aislinn to have a rival - maybe a fellow lancer?
