Papaya Paya is a shy, young lalafell. Born in Ul'dah, she has spent the majority of her life in the pleasant countryside of the Vylbrand, well outside of Limsa Lominsa. Her mother, Rurujo Rujo, owns many acres of land, where the farmers grow their crops and raise animals. Despite not being of a farming family herself, Papaya has grown up surrounded by friendly folk and several types of animals.

She is the middle child, having an older and younger brother that live with her. Her mother, now remarried, is not too overly protective of Papaya, and encourages her to explore and come out of her shell. Over the years, Paya has been assigned a few different "guardians" that watch over her and escort her to Ul'dah nearly every weekend to visit her 'other' family.

Appearance & Personality

Papaya Paya stands three fulm from the ground, has rich tan skin, and dark brown freckles dot across her nose and cheeks. Being Dunesfolk, her eyes are a striking amber/gold colour, which compliment her platinum blonde hair nicely. In the center of her forehead is the customary jewel that Dunesfolk wear to show their zodiac alignment. Her mother, Rurujo, and elder brother, Chachapoja, also wear the same jewels. She loves earrings and jewelry, and owns many, many different kinds.

She has stopped growing height-wise, and is rather tall in comparison to her mother and brothers. Papaya bears her mother's figure, which is a pleasant pear shape, not too wide or too thin. The girl does enjoy eating, though! Though she wears dresses and fine clothes well, Paya isn't too prissy to don farmer's garb as she frolicks around the lands her mother owns. Usually, her garb is adorned with flowers, feathers, or other things she finds that are deemed 'neat'.

In terms of personality, Papaya is very introverted and withdrawn from other people. She often doesn't speak her mind, but is pleasant to be around. Most believe it's out of shyness that she doesn't speak much, but in reality, Paya has a greater fear. When alone, she does talk to animals and apparently (much to her mother's worry) to herself. This is the main reason why Papaya is encouraged to visit the cities and be around other people as often as possible.

Papaya loves her mother dearly, but she doesn't understand how many of her behaviours are perceived as odd or eccentric. She is just being herself! Recently, it has lead Paya into some 'rebelling' against what her mother wants, but not in a loud or even noticeable way.

All in all, Papaya is a pleasant, shy teenager who is coming to understand herself and the world around her at her own pace.

Education

Papaya has been afforded the best tutors gil can buy, all hailing from Ul'dah. Education and learning is a key point of contention between Papaya and her mother, but it is not always clear why. Paya has a very difficult time reading and writing, but excels at concepts, theories, and putting things into practice. She is an intelligent, hands on learner.

She has received knowledge of all of the basic subjects: history, maths, science, and language. Some of her family pushes Paya into enrolling in the Ossuary for Thaumaturge training, but so far, this has not been done. In truth, Papaya doesn't want to study magick and seems to be afraid of it. She would much rather study flowers, rocks, wildlife and nature than how to use her innate aether.

Combat Experience

Papaya has led a peaceful life, and aside from being chased by her siblings, has never been in a true conflict. Papaya was only nine years old during the Battle of Carteneau and the Calamity, and has yet to understand the impact such things made on those less fortunate than she.

However, if Papaya's curiosity keeps leading her deeper and deeper into nature's limitless bounty, who knows what she will encounter in the future?

She has built herself up, but not always by the most honest means. Her past is a fog of grey, but this lalafell woman lives solely in the present. Papaya loves her Ma, but she is also the one she disagrees with most frequently. Their priorities almost never align, which leads to frustration--mostly on Rurujo's end. Rurujo has trouble understanding Papaya's wants and desires, but yearns to help her daughter in any way she can. ● Sozak Shazak : Step-Father (47) - Sozak is the newer husband of Rurujo. He was a farmer one one of the many plots of land that Rurujo bought when she moved from Ul'dah to the Vylbrand. Sozak is friendly, cheerful, and simple-minded. Many of Rurujo's concerns and terminology often go over his head, but it is clear that he loves her very much. Papaya knows that Sozak is not her real father. Even after his years of constant kindness, Paya has still not warmed to him fully. ♥ Chachapoja Kakapoja : Elder Brother (21) - Inheriting his mothers quick wit and eye for a deal, Chachapoja is a wily individual, and believes himself capable of anything. Papaya loves her brother, but his cruel and often-times sharp words keep a firm edge on their relationship. In recent years, she is often nervous around him. ♥ Kiroku Charoku : Younger Brother (5) - Kiroku is Sozak and Rurujo's son, and has physically inherited most of his father's traits, including the Plainsfolk heritage. He is a typical five year old boy and loves to get himself into as much trouble as possible. Papaya loves playing with Kiroku, but quickly gets either bored or worn out with his wild behaviour.
