The Fires of Judgement

Character

General

Aetheric experiment, Astrologian, and Sharlayan turned Sky Pirate. An interesting lifestyle, but it works.

Monker/Nicknames:
Three-foot Terror: After an incredible streak of savagery across the Dravanian Hinterlands, many feared him... and many mocked him. So, this term was born, and though his crimes have since been pardoned, he finds it difficult to go anywhere near Sharlayan or Idyllshire without being mocked and jeered at. He reverts to pulling his hat down over his face to avoid recognition many times, though he can't do much to avoid the vandalism of his manacutter.
Firestarter: After his 'incident' when he was younger, he has issues with starting fires... Mostly on accident, some purposefully, but he's gained quite a reputation among those who have to put out his fires.

Residence:
Currently lives in the Dravanian Hinterlands, in the ruins of the Ruling Quarter. He often can be found tending the Great Gubal Library, for the number of tomes there is innumerable. When he treasure hunts as a Sky Pirate, he seeks old tomes and forgotten books, and stores them there.

Personality

Abilities and Skills

General

Ciaran was never much one for battling. Instead, he took after his mother and father, and trained in the Old World art of Astrology. His father often used Ciaran for research purposes, however, and as a result he was always sickly and weak, and never trained in the art of battle. He learned to cast detrimental spells, but none he could use without his star globe.

Weapons

Star Globe: Ciaran mainly uses his star globe, as that is generally the main tool of an Astrologian. However, it sometimes proves inadequate.
Dagger: Ciaran often has a dagger hidden in a fold of his robe, since magics are not always so readily available.

Magic

Healing: Any skilled Astrologian knows how to harness the power of the stars to heal. It's almost second nature.
Cards: Another tool of the Astrologian is their deck of cards, used to cast various beneficial effects upon their target. Ciaran is well versed in their use, but finds them infuriating.

Relationships

Family

Eideard Cadeyrn (Father, Deceased) (Lalafell, Dunesfolk)
Ciaran's father who performed innumerable gruesome experiments upon his son, the foremost being an attempt to fuse an egi with Ciaran, and others being testing the limits of a lalafell's pain tolerance, and lalafellin lung capacity. He died at Carteneau.
Medb Cadeyrn (Mother, Deceased) (Lalafell, Dunesfolk)
Ciaran's mother-- a beautiful Ul'dahn woman. She was a dancer before Ciaran's father took interest in her and married her. She, as opposed to Eideard, was a Thaumaturge rather than an Astrologian, though she learned the art of Astrology soon after marrying Eideard. She died of an "illness" when Ciaran was only four. Investigations suggested she was murdered by a mage...

History/Timeline

Childhood

Infusion
A boy of but hardly 15, excited to see the world, his father wondered if it was possible to take the essence of a primal and infuse it with a sentient being rather than forge it into an egi. With the assistance of three skilled Arcanists, Ciaran and his father traveled alongside a Summoner to Thanalan, where his father killed her. She was hardly older than Ciaran himself when his father cut her life short. With the assistance of the Arcanists, they entrapped her Ifrit-egi, unraveling it, and took its essence, and attempted to forge it into Ciaran. While his father stood by and observed the reaction without a care in the world as to if his son died or not, Ciaran suffered at the intrusion of the foreign aether. Nearly losing consciousness during the process and remaining at death's door for the next several days, he managed to survive the ordeal and contain the essence of Ifrit (or at least a small piece of it), at the cost of his left eye turning yellow and the beginning of a streak of having a nasty temper. Despite how it sounds, he gets very little out of it-- only a higher body temperature and the ability to spit out flames from time to time, as well as a nasty case of PTSD.
Testing the Limits
Another one of Eideard's research ideas was to test the limits of lalafell pain tolerance. There seemed to be extensive records of this for all races besides, but it seemed no one ever had the heart to document a lalafell's reaction to torture. Naturally, Ciaran was the test subject, and was put through various tests. In one, he nearly drowned the boy to test lalafellin lung capacity, and in another he repeatedly lashed Ciaran to record his reactions. Ciaran now has a deep-rooted fear of large bodies of water, and scars all across his back. The Forum was quite thankful for the information Eideard had gathered, though none stopped to question how exactly he acquired it...
Carteneau
When he was 18, and hardly old enough to fight, he joined Eorzean forces to repel the Garlean forces at Carteneau. Whilst there, his father was on the frontlines, and was crushed by debris as Dalamud began to crumble. After his father died, and seeing the immediate danger of Dalamud collapsing, he booked it to Ishgard for safety, watching from within the safe confines of Daniffen's Collar as the lesser moon exploded and lay waste to Eorzea.

Present

 ???
Consumed by the insatiable rage that came with being infused with an egi, Ciaran snapped and laid waste to an entire encampment of traveling merchants. It could not have been more than ten men, whom hardly anyone cared for, yet the ridicule stays with him today.
