Ciaran Cadeyrn
[edit]
Ciaran Cadeyrn (Pronunciation: Keer-in cay-der-rin), born on the Tenth Sun of the Second Astral Moon, he was never much one for the grander lifestyles. He was trained extensively in Astrology as a child, and trained just as extensively in the art of swordplay after leaving home. A proud Sultansworn now, he is not difficult to spot out and about the streets of Ul’dah. He speaks much too formally to be any merchant anyway.
Short and round (like all lalafells). His skin and hair are dark-- indicative of an Ul’dahn heritage. There are pale scars stretching across his back (nearly his entire back is scar tissue), some across his neck and wrists, and more yet down his arms and legs. They are not the result of self-harm-- rather the result of his father’s abuse. There are burns on his ears and the rest of his body as well, as little-seen they are by others. His right eye is faded and blind, the left retaining a brilliant blue from his father’s heritage.
Blunt. Obnoxious. Loyal. Ciaran is constantly leaping to conclusions which he should not make. It’s the result of a Sharlayan upbringing, of course, but it’s prevalent in every conversation he makes. He tends to cut to the point in conversation as well, being an incredibly blunt person. His words are concise and well-chosen, and he speaks too eloquently for most to understand. However, he is quick to anger and slow to cool off once in that place. It is not uncommon to see Ciaran picking fights and getting in scraps, especially while drunk… and boy does he drink. Especially when drunk his usual flirtiness gets worse, but even when sober he has a tendency to try and get with any women (and men) he sees
This is a list of the items that Ciaran currently is keeping on his person. Feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in the course of RP, such as pickpocketing, a search, etc. Last Updated: 4/24/16.

With a past like Ciaran’s, and an occupation like his to boot, one must always be prepared to have a little spat or two. Skilled in Sharlayan Astrology, he can heal whatever ails him (albeit not well in battle), and deals with cards often. More than not, however, he can be found with sword in hand and shield at the ready. A paladin always is prepared for a fight, and that means always. There’s no mistaking when the little Sultansworn is on duty or otherwise.
Here is a list of recent and/or notable fights, roleplay scenes, etc. that Ciaran has been a part of. This list is by no means all inclusive, and serves more as a general reference as to what he has been up to.
He was born in Sharlayan to a man named Eideard and a woman named Vividi. Eideard was a Sharayan scholar and Vividi was a dancer from Ul'dah. Ciaran spent his childhood studying with other Sharlayan children. He resided in the Answering Quarter nearby to Saint Moccaine’s Arboretum with his parents for some time. His mother was very kind, though she fell ill only when he was seven. Eideard, however, had other ideas. Noticing a definitive lack of records on lalafellin tolerances to pain, poisons, and other things such as lung capacity, Eideard found the perfect test subject: Ciaran. Several years followed in which Ciaran was no more than a research subject. Scarred all across his body and terrified of his father, he was miserable. The Forum was of course thankful for the information Eideard gathered, but none were curious as to how he acquired it. Vividi knew what was happening to her son, and when he was twelve she arranged to have him smuggled out of Sharlayan and to the Saigoli desert. She had family there that would take care of him, and not being a citizen of Sharlayan she had little legal ability to protect her son. Eideard caught wind of the plan the night that the two of them were going to leave. As Vividi led Ciaran out through the city-state and to the pass to the Forelands, Eideard attacked the two of them. Without hesitation, Ciaran was shoved into the wagon that waited for them, and the driver took off. Eideard was still focused on Vividi by the time Ciaran was out of their sights, and them out of his. Determined to do as his mother asked rather than return, he traveled to Tailfeather and quickly hopped onto a wagon carrying chocobos to Ishgard. From there he arranged for transport to the Shroud, and from there to Thanalan. His goal was to make it to the Saigoli desert and find Vividi’s family, yet as he crossed over Highbridge he ran into trouble. On the way down from the Shroud and to Camp Drybone, he was grabbed off the road by a Roegadyn traveling with three chocobos all carrying large packs. He was a wanderer and a trader, and wore a rusted old shortsword on his side, and he intended to keep Ciaran. At first he feared the Roegadyn, whose name was Rostnskylt. However, after only a few days, it became clear that Rostnskylt only wanted someone to help carry his bags and manage the chocobos. The two of them traveled through Thanalan together, Rostnskylt on his way to the Silver Bazaar. On the way, he taught Ciaran the art of swordplay and how to care for the chocobos. Once at the Silver Bazaar, Rostnskylt settled there for some time with his three chocobos, Boris, Sorghum, and Cerys. Ciaran helped out with the heavy lifting and with caring for his chocobos until he was seventeen. Rostnskylt became a father to Ciaran in that time-- the father that Ciaran never had. A letter came to Rostnskylt one day. His family needed help in La Noscea, and Ciaran could not come with. As Rostnskylt boarded the ferry to leave, he left Sorghum and his sword with the Lalafell and told him to speak with a man named Jenlyns.
Having only been a Sultansworn for the past two years, he’s rather inexperienced at his duties. Easily distracted and with a head filled with fantasy, he took a job offered to him by a man named Fabius Dandy, who offered him a job teaching at his school. The Imaginarium proved to be a fantastic environment in which Ciaran finally has begun to make friends in.
These are mostly backstory-related relationships.
Listed here are the non-family characters, both PC and NPC, that Ciaran has interacted with enough or in such a way for him to form a real opinion about them. Overall, I'm pretty chill as far as guidelines go. I don't have an extensive list of 'Do's or 'Don't's or things that I personally find triggering. So chances are, you won't offend me or make me uncomfortable unless you're trying to or just being really skeevy in general. Still, for the sake of making sure everyone's on the same page here, let me make a few mentions in particular:
