GENERAL INFORMATION

Ciaran Cadeyrn (Pronunciation: Keer-in cay-der-rin), born on the Tenth Sun of the Second Astral Moon, he was never much one for the grander lifestyles. He was trained extensively in Astrology as a child, and trained just as extensively in the art of swordplay after leaving home. A proud Sultansworn now, he is not difficult to spot out and about the streets of Ul’dah. He speaks much too formally to be any merchant anyway.

APPEARANCE

Short and round (like all lalafells). His skin and hair are dark-- indicative of an Ul’dahn heritage. There are pale scars stretching across his back (nearly his entire back is scar tissue), some across his neck and wrists, and more yet down his arms and legs. They are not the result of self-harm-- rather the result of his father’s abuse. There are burns on his ears and the rest of his body as well, as little-seen they are by others. His right eye is faded and blind, the left retaining a brilliant blue from his father’s heritage.

PERSONALITY

Blunt. Obnoxious. Loyal. Ciaran is constantly leaping to conclusions which he should not make. It’s the result of a Sharlayan upbringing, of course, but it’s prevalent in every conversation he makes. He tends to cut to the point in conversation as well, being an incredibly blunt person. His words are concise and well-chosen, and he speaks too eloquently for most to understand. However, he is quick to anger and slow to cool off once in that place. It is not uncommon to see Ciaran picking fights and getting in scraps, especially while drunk… and boy does he drink. Especially when drunk his usual flirtiness gets worse, but even when sober he has a tendency to try and get with any women (and men) he sees

LIKES

ARGUING. Arguing or debating with anyone in any way or form makes Ciaran incredibly happy… unless he loses, that is.

FIRE. Setting things ablaze, including himself, has always pleased him.

FLIRTING. Flirting has always been a form of escapism for Ciaran. It’s not the best, but he makes do.

STARS. Being versed in Sharlayan Astrology, Ciaran has always had an affinity for the stars, and a liking for their light.

DISLIKES

WATER. Ciaran can’t stand any body of water. The mere sight of a bath is enough to make him faint.

COLD. Ciaran has never done well in cold temperatures-- hence why his stay in Ishgard was so fleeting whilst fleeing to Eorzea. He can’t seem to regulate his temperature well.

FATHERS. Any mention of a father is enough to send him into a depressed mood.

STRENGTHS

LOYALTY. Once you've earned his trust, one is like to find that Ciaran is in fact an incredibly loyal person. He would take an arrow for a friend any day.

STRENGTH. Ciaran’s years of heavy lifting and training in swordplay ended with him being rather strong.

INTELLIGENCE. Being one of Sharlayan heritage (for the most part), he’s blessed with a hunger for knowledge and a quick wit.

DETERMINATION. He refuses to give up, despite how many times he may be knocked down.

WEAKNESSES

BLINDNESS. Of the few things Ciaran inherited from his father, bright blue eyes were one of them. In a fit of hatred, he attempted to blind himself. He successfully blinded the right, and damaged the left.

INSECURITY. Racism and a damaging childhood left Ciaran with a crippling insecurity, and a fear of not being enough.

PERSISTENCE. In battle, Ciaran often fights past points that he should. After his childhood he has been incredibly tolerant to pain, and as a result cannot tell when he is too injured to fight.

CURRENT INVENTORY

This is a list of the items that Ciaran currently is keeping on his person. Feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in the course of RP, such as pickpocketing, a search, etc.

Last Updated: 4/24/16.

  • MOTHER’S RING: As he fled Sharlayan, his mother gave him her wedding ring, telling him that it would get him through the difficult times in life. So far that has proven untrue, but it’s been a valuable memento.

  • SATCHEL: A nondescript pouch containing gil. More often than not full. On nights he’s in particularly terrible pain, more often than not empty.

  • GLASSES: Old, chipped, cracked, beat-up reading glasses that he keeps tucked into a fold in his robes. He cannot read without them whatsoever-- though he can see decently without them on.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

Face Claim: N/A.

Body Claim: N/A.

Voice Claim: Ramsay Bolton.

COMBAT & WEAPONRY

With a past like Ciaran’s, and an occupation like his to boot, one must always be prepared to have a little spat or two. Skilled in Sharlayan Astrology, he can heal whatever ails him (albeit not well in battle), and deals with cards often. More than not, however, he can be found with sword in hand and shield at the ready. A paladin always is prepared for a fight, and that means always. There’s no mistaking when the little Sultansworn is on duty or otherwise.

ALDEBARAN

A sort of family antique. His father bestowed the old star globe upon Ciaran when he was only five. After all, the kid needed to know how to keep himself alive.

TYRFING

Not really a legendary sword (or a sword of particular uniqueness either), it’s the blade Ciaran is most likely to be found wearing. It was not his first blade, no, but is definitely one that has served him well. It has many scratches and repaired flaws.

ROST

The sword that his adoptive father of five years, and mentor in swordplay gave to him upon leaving for La Noscea. It’s much too large and ungainly for Ciaran to use practically, but it is sentimental to keep about.

EXPERIENCE LOG

Here is a list of recent and/or notable fights, roleplay scenes, etc. that Ciaran has been a part of. This list is by no means all inclusive, and serves more as a general reference as to what he has been up to.

  • Cotota Dakzar : Unarmed. Entirely unarmed and simply attempting to pick a fight, he was attacked by a mad Au Ra woman with an axe. She swung the blunt side into his shoulder and dislocated it, sending him home indignant and defeated.
  • Ulfarr Tigron (4/24/16) : Tyrfing. Spurred on by a bad mood and a terrible idea, the two battled publicly for several hours. Ciaran took a number of hits to the face, and Ulfarr was run through in his shoulder by Ciaran’s blade.

BACKSTORY

He was born in Sharlayan to a man named Eideard and a woman named Vividi. Eideard was a Sharayan scholar and Vividi was a dancer from Ul'dah. Ciaran spent his childhood studying with other Sharlayan children. He resided in the Answering Quarter nearby to Saint Moccaine’s Arboretum with his parents for some time. His mother was very kind, though she fell ill only when he was seven. Eideard, however, had other ideas.

Noticing a definitive lack of records on lalafellin tolerances to pain, poisons, and other things such as lung capacity, Eideard found the perfect test subject: Ciaran.

Several years followed in which Ciaran was no more than a research subject. Scarred all across his body and terrified of his father, he was miserable. The Forum was of course thankful for the information Eideard gathered, but none were curious as to how he acquired it.

Vividi knew what was happening to her son, and when he was twelve she arranged to have him smuggled out of Sharlayan and to the Saigoli desert. She had family there that would take care of him, and not being a citizen of Sharlayan she had little legal ability to protect her son. Eideard caught wind of the plan the night that the two of them were going to leave. As Vividi led Ciaran out through the city-state and to the pass to the Forelands, Eideard attacked the two of them. Without hesitation, Ciaran was shoved into the wagon that waited for them, and the driver took off. Eideard was still focused on Vividi by the time Ciaran was out of their sights, and them out of his.

Determined to do as his mother asked rather than return, he traveled to Tailfeather and quickly hopped onto a wagon carrying chocobos to Ishgard. From there he arranged for transport to the Shroud, and from there to Thanalan. His goal was to make it to the Saigoli desert and find Vividi’s family, yet as he crossed over Highbridge he ran into trouble. On the way down from the Shroud and to Camp Drybone, he was grabbed off the road by a Roegadyn traveling with three chocobos all carrying large packs. He was a wanderer and a trader, and wore a rusted old shortsword on his side, and he intended to keep Ciaran.

At first he feared the Roegadyn, whose name was Rostnskylt. However, after only a few days, it became clear that Rostnskylt only wanted someone to help carry his bags and manage the chocobos. The two of them traveled through Thanalan together, Rostnskylt on his way to the Silver Bazaar. On the way, he taught Ciaran the art of swordplay and how to care for the chocobos.

Once at the Silver Bazaar, Rostnskylt settled there for some time with his three chocobos, Boris, Sorghum, and Cerys. Ciaran helped out with the heavy lifting and with caring for his chocobos until he was seventeen. Rostnskylt became a father to Ciaran in that time-- the father that Ciaran never had. A letter came to Rostnskylt one day. His family needed help in La Noscea, and Ciaran could not come with. As Rostnskylt boarded the ferry to leave, he left Sorghum and his sword with the Lalafell and told him to speak with a man named Jenlyns.

RECENT HISTORY

Having only been a Sultansworn for the past two years, he’s rather inexperienced at his duties. Easily distracted and with a head filled with fantasy, he took a job offered to him by a man named Fabius Dandy, who offered him a job teaching at his school. The Imaginarium proved to be a fantastic environment in which Ciaran finally has begun to make friends in.

FAMILY & TRIBE

These are mostly backstory-related relationships.

LIST OF FAMILY MEMBERS
Vividi Vidi, mother. ( 🔃🔒 )
Ciaran’s Thoughts: "S-she was… She was good. Never talked to me much for fear of father getting all pissed off..."

Now deceased (so Ciaran believes), Vividi cared deeply for her son. She was simply a tool to avoid legal discipline for Eideard’s deeds, yet she loved her son with all of her heart and more. Seeing him tortured day in and day out for her husband’s research hurt, and she suffered from extreme depression. Eventually, she managed to force Ciaran out of Sharlayan, but at the cost of her own life.

Eideard Cadeyrn, father. ( )
Ciaran's Thoughts: "If he was still here, I’d run him through, I would. I would do it thirty times and thirty times more, just for existing."

Eideard was the worst father any young Sharlayan could have hoped for. He used his son for a test subject, and scarred him both physically and mentally for life. Ciaran lived in fear of Eideard, and still is paranoid that his father will return from the dead to haunt him. He believes Eideard died at Carteneau, but there was never any confirmation of his death.

NON-FAMILY

Listed here are the non-family characters, both PC and NPC, that Ciaran has interacted with enough or in such a way for him to form a real opinion about them. Please don't take personal offense if your character isn't listed here, or how the interaction or relationship is described. It isn't that I dislike your character or our RP. I just tend to only add these as necessary for those who make a real impact on Ciaran, and descriptions are purely based upon in character experiences and opinions!

Last Update... 4/24/16.

* An asterisks denotes that Ciaran doesn't know the individual's true name.

LIST OF NON-FAMILY RELATIONS
Ruriri Ruri, the puppetmaster. ( )
Ciaran’s Thoughts: "Of the one thing that I hate being done to me, she’s done it, and she’s done it better than any damn person I’ve ever known..."

She pulled him away from his duties. She filled his head with silly fantasies of adventuring. She tried to tell him of her attraction, and upon only their second meeting tensions grew high. She took the initiative, and by whittling at Ciaran’s resolve ended up the first woman to sleep with him. Since then, however, he’s been her perfect little puppet-- she could do whatever he wanted. He’s under her complete control.

Fabius Dandy, eccentric as they come. ( 🔒 )
Ciaran’s Thoughts: "Something else, that's for sure."

An eccentric individual… to say the least. He met him by chance while going to bother Yoxoh’sae, and wound up bumping into Dandy again and again. Soon enough, he was asked to teach at the hyur’s school, The Imaginarium. After a good deal of compromising and debating, he gave in and accepted a teaching role at the school. Ciaran now works as a history teacher there.

Rhel’ir Tayuun, bad luck black cat. ( )
Ciaran’s Thoughts: "Definitely a strange fellow. I’d punch his nose in just about any day of the week, though."

Some poor guy who managed to make Ciaran’s acquaintance. He’s married to Fabius Dandy unfortunately-- Ci wouldn’t be caught dead married to a nutjob like that for any reason. Rhel’s a sort of strange friend, though. The kind of friend that Ci wouldn’t mind giving a good wallop to, even without good reason. Rhel’s kinda punchable.

Yoxoh’sae Betwanhe, just a kid. ( 🔒 )
Ciaran’s Thoughts: "Kid isn’t fit to function in the real world. He’s not mentally ready for all the shite that’s gonna come his way."

One of the first people in Ul’dah that Ciaran met. Yoxoh is far too sweet and far too innocent for really any real world situations. Obviously incredibly sheltered, Yoxoh hasn’t seen many bad things… and he isn’t really ready to. If anyone, Ciaran would protect Yoxoh with his life.

Tamm’lin Maertena, drinking buddy extraordinaire. ( 🔒 )
Ciaran’s Thoughts: "Rather have her fighting with me than against me. She’s feistier than a coeurl in heat!"

If anyone is worthy of being called terrifying yet friendly, it’s Tamm. She’s spunky, loud, tough, and most importantly, can match Ci in a drinking contest. Maybe-- that hasn’t been tested quite yet, actually. Regardless of her capacity for alcohol, she’s a good friend, and he’d gladly fight beside her any day.

ABOUT THE PLAYER

The name’s Ezekial, and I’m just some dweeb meddling about with dumb characters. I’m always open to skype requests and people following me on tumblr (which is armoroad, btw). Uhh, seriously the biggest dweeb ever on the inside. Talk to me about electro swing pls thank you. Also do art? I wasn’t prepared to write about myself this is a page about Ci what am I doing with my life.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND...

In summary. Basically don’t piss me off? Ci’s abrasive and quick to anger, but he also is quick to befriend. Just try for it and you’re bound to make it!
Don't make fun of trans ppl thanks. Otherwise imma drop your ass faster than a guy after scoring his gf post-prom.
I'm not easily triggered. I'm the jewish person that makes holocaust jokes. Legit, don't worry about offending me. Unless you're some sweaty neckbeard living in your mom's basement or an idiot that things you're a naturalist for feeding the deer, it's hard to make me dislike you.

GUIDELINES

Overall, I'm pretty chill as far as guidelines go. I don't have an extensive list of 'Do's or 'Don't's or things that I personally find triggering. So chances are, you won't offend me or make me uncomfortable unless you're trying to or just being really skeevy in general. Still, for the sake of making sure everyone's on the same page here, let me make a few mentions in particular:

I WILL NOT...

Write smut (often). I stay out of erp as much as I can. Don’t pressure me into it or whatever. Ci’s actually really into that so I’m fine content-wise, but I’ll also opt to fade to black almost 100% of the time.
Kill my character. Except I’m totally chill with fights and mortal wounds. I love putting my characters in pain y’all got no idea.
Censor my character. Ciaran is obnoxious. Ciaran is rude. Ciaran is abrasive, and jumps to conclusions, and speaks like he’s better than everyone. I won’t dumb him down for your sake. Ever. The end.

I WILL...

Hurt my muse. Honestly I love when Ciaran gets hurt or when he’s in emotional pain. If you write emotional things with me, I will love you ‘til the end of days, forreal.
Write my character how I want. Not everyone in real life is likeable. If you don’t like Ciaran, put your big girl panties on and suck it up, because it isn’t my job to appeal to everyone. It’s my job to write what makes me happy, not write what you want.
Overstep my boundaries and forget things. I have honest to god, clinically diagnosed memory problems. If I forget your boundaries and overstep mine, or forget an interaction or a rule, please forgive me. I have a very difficult time remembering most things.
