An Ala Mhigan, but not by blood, Datura Dura Venenum is a mixed-clan Lalafellin woman who was caught up in a myriad of events that made her into the woman she is today. Her perception and mannerisms have her appear to be older than most, but in all actuality, is quite young and highly educated. Her Lominsan accent often throws newcomers off, and – for some odd reason – her quirk involves calling just about anyone ‘lad’ or ‘lass.’ Datura’s family tradition is to gain a last lame based on the parent they are most alike. Because her father claimed she was more like her mother, she stuck with the last name Dura. This last name, however, was later hidden upon growing up.

Appearance & Personality

Datura’s hair is ever changing in shape and size, though paying attention to detail will lead one to witness the Lalafell having specific styles for specific occasions. The lass often wears her hair down for formal events and introductions, though catching her on her off days will lead others to see her in an array of short (or masculine) hairstyles. If not her style then her mint green highlights tangling themselves in her naturally purple hair should do just the trick. Her eyes are a darker purple, her skin is a little bit darker than sand, and she has no markings other than tattoos and scars.

The most notable trademark that Datura owns is a Butterfly Tattoo on her left cheek. Each tattoo on her face grants a type of symbolism – beginning with a Chocobo (which symbolized the Wanderers of Fenith) and has been transformed into a Butterfly (symbolizing the Fenith Conglomerate). Not normally seen unless there is aether leakage (or if she’s waking up in the morning) is a gash that is between her eyes. Datura owns a plethora of scars, some gained in her childhood while others obtained in recent times. Most of these scars are glamoured away by aether, but again, can be seen through leakage from overexertion or if she’s caught unaware. She has multiple, cathartic, self-harm scars on her forearms while battle scars have littered her stomach and legs. The most notable scar on her body is a large gash from a sword, courtesy of her Free Company Leader: Leifon Altugle.

The best way to describe Datura would be Bookish, and that isn’t just a play on her love for literature. Initially a girl who would meander her way into crowds the Dunesfolk has found herself growing awfully fond of hiding in her room and flipping through the pages of research she has gathered and books that she has bought. She has a knack for talking with others, typically beginning a conversation with a simple hello or – on rare occasions – butting in with information that she has obtained on her own accord. Not to mention people will rarely find the Lalafell not smiling, even when the stress of helping a troublesome Lalafell run a Free Company starts to get to her. Some say she is wearing a façade, while others believe that it is simply in her nature.

Be that as it may, Datura takes a different approach to people who come to visit her personally for one reason or another; peeling away her nerdy shell leaves an entire box that is just waiting to be opened and, if cards are played right, one just might be able to open up the box of secrets that Datura guards with her entire life.
