His given name was given to him by his biological parents, his surname was given to him when he was adopted by Ivan Tanner. His first name doesn't follow typical Seekers naming conventions if only due to Ivan's spelling of it throughout Nahue's life.

Abilities

• Conjurer - Nahue's biological parents were very adept at healing magicks, and he was gifted with some abilities in that area. Ivan has pushed him to pursue this art, after noticing he had a natural ability with conjury. While he grasps the concepts, he doesn't quite understand it. He isn't much of a fighter, so the instances in where he can practice it is very slim. As such, he is still very inexperienced in this field.

• Alchemist - From a young age, his father took him out to gather herbs and reagents, learning the various types and their properties. As he grew, his father teached him how to transmogrify, brew, concoct and create wonderful things. It always fascinated him, and he found he had a knack for it. Nahue has spent many cycles developing and perfecting his talent, using much of his spare time to experiment.

• Mechanician/Magitek Engineer - Another trade taught by Ivan as Nahue grew up. Nahue has always loved working on things, disassembling them, figuring out how things work, whether it is a simple pulley system, or a complex engine. His desire to learn more has always been difficult, with the taboo around magitek. He has had to learn many things in secret, often in his father's basement. Even with the risk of being caught, Nahue and his father have always enjoyed exploring the intricacies of magitek and machines in general.

• Blacksmith/Armorsmith - Alongside his desire to work around magitek, within the past cycle, Nahue has taken a liking to the forge. He has spent day and night creating various pieces of armor and every weapon imaginable. He now sells his wares alongside his others at his workshop, often travelling to the Golden Bazaar to find new clients interested in his high quality creations.

• Scrapper (Pugilist) - Nahue has never been a fighter, using it only in self-defense. His abilities are very novice, as he is mostly self-taught. He tends to use whatever is around him as a weapon, or a distraction. On most occasions, he will use a wrench from his tool belt. His technique is sloppy, and unbalanced.

• Swordsman (Paladin) - After the attack by Nahkokko, Nahue has since felt weak and unable to protect himself and his family. He wanted to learn how to wield a blade so that if any future encounters occured, he would be at least somewhat capable of defending himself. He practiced alone for almost an entire cycle, until finally asking Isilme Turuphant for assistance. He is extremely dedicated to learning the art of swordsmanship and has crafted himself his own suit of armor, blade and shield.

• Nahue is dyslexic, and as a result, he never bothered to learn how to read. This will often get him lost when exploring, as he can't read signs for directions. He has to memorize landmarks and specific areas for navigation. This has also made learning difficult, as he has to have hands on experience, rather than reading a book to obtain knowledge or information.
  
• Trusting of others, almost to a fault. He will confide in someone completely and utterly before getting to know them as well as he should. Because of this, he often gets his hopes up very easily for things, and it hits him much harder when things don't go as planned.

Personality

Demeanor:

Nahue is a warm and friendly individual when with someone he knows. When he is around strangers or large groups of people he is very shy, rigid and introverted. He will keep to himself and stick to observing unless spoken to. He is a very curious person, often asking many questions and being nosy. Because of this, he may come off as annoying at times, but his intentions are always good.

Emotions:

He is almost always smiling, goofing off, and generally being happy. He carries an optimistic outlook on life. He tends to stay calm in most situations, rarely getting angry or upset. If he is, he usually keeps it to himself.

Intelligence:

He loves learning new things, very intellectual. He thinks before he speaks. Not very street-smart, but he is learning. As a dyslexic, he never bothered to learn how to read, as it was something that was difficult for him to do. As a result, everything he has learned has been from hands on experience or taught from his father. He loves to experiment on things and tinker with them to learn how the world works and behaves. Because of his learning disability, he has become very observant of the world around him, picking up on things that others usually wouldn't. He has used this to his advantage, learning vicariously through other people's experiences in fields that interest him. Even though he is unable to read and write, he is able to speak fluent Eorzean.

History

Until the age of 3, he traveled with his birth parents and the rest of his clan by caravan throughout Eorzea. However, one day he decided to wander off and explore on his own. He ended up getting lost and eventually found himself running into a peculiar Hyur by the name of Ivan Tanner. The kind old man took him and raised him as his own.

Ivan is a mechanic and an alchemist by trade, so naturally he apprenticed under him. He quickly developed a love for tools, machinery, gears and gadgets. Anytime his father brought something home, they would spend hours tinkering with it, learning how it works and how to make it work even better than before.

Prior to the Calamity, his father owned a little alchemist/mechanic shop in Limsa Lominsa. He is currently living in Gridania with his mate, Manari Onai, where he runs his own shop in the local marketplace.

Nahue walked through the dark alleys of Limsa Lominsa, Dalamud shining brightly overhead. He wore an overcoat that night, a dark cloak and hood underneath. He carried himself well, a small cadence to his step as his boots scraped against the cobblestone. He slid his hood over his head, concealing his face from view. He had dealt with these men before, but nothing of this size. A dead drop, as usual. It was the safest thing for him and his father. He couldn't risk it otherwise. This was definitely something that would get them both killed.

The terms of the arrangement had already been established the week prior. Tonight, it was setting up the delivery. The item in question was currently sitting in the basement of his father's shop. Not the best place to store something of this kind, but it was the only place he could think of at the time. Getting it to the dead drop location would be another matter entirely. He shook that thought from his head, "One step at a time," he thought. Right now, he needed to drop off the note that would let them know where he was leaving the item in question.

His pace quickened as the wind picked up. It was a chilly night, and with the ocean winds, it hit straight to the bone. He approached the drop location, sliding the note between two wooden boards, looking for a moment before pulling out a small envelope hidden underneath. The location in general was well hidden, and the drop spot wouldn't be noticeable at first glance, only to those who actively looked for something there would see it. He exhaled sharply, returning to his father's shop while opening the envelope. The first half of the payment was inside, the other half to be designated after they get the item. "Time to get it," he thought as he briskly walked back through the alleyways. A thought did cross his mind however, taking the first half of the payment and skipping town, though, that'd put his father in danger, and they'd surely track him down. Not a good idea by any means.

Nahue arrived at the shop shortly thereafter, heading down in the basement where it resided. He glanced at the large object, hidden under a tarp. He grabbed one end of the cloth, pulling it away slowly. As the tarp fell away, it revealed the waist and legs of a large magitek mech. Nahue had been working on it for awhile, attempting to make it work without the chassis, to no avail. His buyer might have better luck, but with Dalamud approaching, he thought it'd be better to sell the thing and make off with the profits rather than leaving it to rust. He smirked as he gave the machine a final once over, remembering when he had found the thing.

It was only a couple months ago, he was out in La Noscea, scavenging for anything of use for his father's business. He had just climbed up a small rock formation when he had seen smoke rising from the air. Curiousity got the better of him and he quickly rushed over to see what had caused it. To his surprise, it was the wreckage of the mech, surrounded by dead Garlean soldiers. He didn't know what happened to them, nor did he care to. He quickly put out the smoke so no one would discover him, or this piece of tech. A rarity to be sure, a very very illegal one at that. There was no way he'd leave this out here.

He did his best, using nearby tree branches to cover it up before heading off to the nearest camp. Luckily, he was able to find a merchant selling some wares. A few things purchased; a tarp, a wooden board, and a hefty length of rope. After making it back to the wreckage, he laid the wooden board on the ground, and with a bit of science, he managed to prop up the mech on the board using the rope and gravity. He then fastened the mech to the wood, secured it under the tarp, and began pulling. It only took him seven or eight hours to reach Limsa, a lot faster than he thought it would take. By then, he was under the cover of nightfall and easily able to drag it into the city and to the shop.

He grinned as he looked at it, a good memory. He sighed, pulling the tarp back over the magitek, securing it with rope once more. This time he thought ahead, making sure to secure a caravan for that evening. The caravan had already pulled up beside the shop, near the basement door, ready for the pickup. He walked outside, giving a nod to the driver. A friend of his fathers, a trustworthy one at that. They worked together to get the bundled up piece of machinery into the back of the caravan, of which only took 20 minutes. He smiled, giving the driver a handshake, hopping in to the back of the caravan.

"Tha usual place Nahu?" The man grunted from the front of the wagon.

Nahu whispered, "Aye...Thanks once more for this Gayle." The old man shrugged, "Leas' I could do for Ivan's son."

Gayle, was one of Ivan's oldest friends, always willing to help out his family as needed, and Nahue was no exception. Gayle had done a few runs like this with Nahu, helping out the Tanners whenever needed, and it wasn't without due compensation either. Nahue would make sure of that, especially with this drop.

They headed off, out of Limsa to the spot designated by Nahue where the magitek would be dropped off. Nahue and Gayle loaded the machine off the wagon, near a cliffside, not noticeable from the road. He opened his envelope and poured the contents into his hands; a hefty amount of gil. He tossed Gayle one of the smaller coins and nodded, "I'll walk back." The man nodded in return, heading back to his wagon and driving off back to Limsa.

Nahue looked around the area where the treasure lay, trying to find a spot to hide. He saw a nice outcropping of rocks just atop the cliffside, only about seven feet up too, an easy climb. He gracefully grabbed a hold of the formation, scaling it with ease. Slowly he moved to the rocks, kneeling down to hide. Here he would wait for the men to pick up their prize, here he would wait for the rest of his money..

Nahue didn't mind the two hour wait ahead of him. There wasn't a cloud in the sky; every single star was crisp and bright, minus the ones near Dalamud. He enjoyed the moonlight, it was peaceful and calm that night, with only an odd bird chirp or two throughout the night. He took a deep breath and exhaled, relaxing, waiting in anticipation for the men to arrive. He had a feeling that the other party wouldn't hold up their end of the bargain, first payment or not. These were the types to pay you, get what they want, then kill you and take their money back. "Not this time," Nahu thought. His ears perked up towards some voices in the distance, "That must be them," he thought once more. He fidgeted, waiting to see them appear from the darkness. There were two men, wheeling a caravan of their own, torches in their hands. Odd thing to see, when you are someone who doesn't want to get noticed. He shrugged to himself, waiting for them to approach.

"Ya fink tha' lad'll actually believe 'e's getten' his money?" One of the men spoke; it was the one on the left, pretty tall, rotund to boot, definitely hyur.

The other man, a small wormy thing, a lalafell by the looks, sneered, "Considerin' 'e's left it 'ere, I'd say so." They both chuckled to themselves, hopping off the caravan. The little one spoke again, "Won' 'e surprised when 'im and 'is pop both get clobbered in?" The hyur replied, "Can' be surprised if yer dead." The chuckled again as they loaded the magitek onto the caravan.

Nahue frowned, whispering under his breath, "Called it." He pulled out a miniature telescope from one of his pouches under his coat, checking to see the contents of the caravan. "Arseholes still brought the money with them!" He smirked, thinking to himself. He crawled silently to the edge of the cliffside, hopping down as quietly as possible. He froze for a moment, waiting to see if they had heard him. They hadn't. He stealthy maneuvered around the other side of the caravan. While the two thugs were busy securing the mech, he quietly slipped in, grabbed the pouch full of gil and slid back out. Nahue made sure to be very careful to not let the purse jingle as he slipped it under his cloak. He grinned, listening for a moment. Pure silence. He went pale, turning to see the men facing him.

"Oi! Think yer goin' somewhere lad?" The lalafell spat.

Nahue folded his arms,leaning back against the wagon. "No, but I imagine you will be." The men seemed confused, looking to each other. Nahue's ears perked as the sound of chain and metal approached, "Right on time too." Nahue pointed behind the two men; they looked to see the Lominsian guard approaching on their Chocobos.

"HALT!" The two men shrieked, heading off in different directions. Nahue held his hands up as the guards approached, "I told you sirs, there were going to be some men out here smuggling," He paused, pointing in both directions, "Just doing my duty, they each ran in opposite directions." The guards nodded, chasing after the men. "Can't believe they didn't see that one coming," Nahu muttered, as he walked towards Limsa, to get his father, and their belongings, out of the city.

Year One

Before Dalamud falls, Nahue sneaks aboard the vessel Shining Hope to escape imminent destruction. He spent two weeks undetected on the vessel, sneaking food and supplies from the passengers who had now settled on the island called Menphina's Breath. One evening he stumbled through a female Miqo'te's campsite, named Manari at which point he fled and she gave chase. Upon being caught by her, she welcomed him with open arms. As the weeks went by, they became close, spending all of their time together. Nahue worked tirelessly to keep up with Manari on her hunts, learning how to track, to navigate silently through the forest and to fire a bow and arrow. It was almost inevitable it seemed, that the two would form a deep and profound relationship that would grow stronger in the years that followed.

Towards the end of the cycle, she gives birth to a healthy baby boy. She names him Ithki, after a boy in her tribe she loved upon Nahue's suggestion.

Year Two

Nahue learns the ways of parenthood after Manari's child is born. They both begin to understand the responsibilities of being a parent. Nahue is always eager to assist his mate and comes to love her child as if it was his own. After moving to the village for her child, Manari pushes for a return to the mainland and Nahue eagerly agrees, wanting to visit his childhood home and pick up a few things. Once back on the mainland, they stay in Limsa Lominsa briefly to allow Nahue to visit his father's shop, picking up a few needed supplies and his gil savings from the job he completed prior to his departure. He returns home to find it destroyed, only able to salvage a few essentials and some of the money that he had. This sends him into a minor depression until he learns that his father is still alive. He leaves a note for him and makes leave for the Black Shroud with Manari.

They arrive to find things both better, and different. Nahue consoles his mate through the adjustment of a changed home and is able to afford a residence and a small workshop in Gridania where the three of them start a happy life as a normal family.

Year Three

As Nahue settles in to his new life in Gridania, his mate strives to return to the woods to restore her home. After some convincing, he relents, wishing her to do what makes her happy, even if it might be dangerous. In a short amount of time, his workshop is set up properly. Using his father's standards to run his business he quickly becomes successful, even hiring on a few apprentices to take care of some of the work while he stays at home and helps care for their child while Manari travels the woods.

During a family walk through the woods, they are attacked by Manari's former mentor, Nahkokko. Manari fights back, far more adept at combat than Nahue, while he defends their child. They were able to drive back the small group of poachers that were sent after them, that is, until Nahkokko flanked them, engaging in direct combat with Nahue. During the course of the fight, Nahue had to protect Ithki, diving in front of him as Nahkokko swung her axe, severing his arm and taking it as a trophy before leaving them. Nahu could never blame his mate for the incident, constantly telling her that it was okay, and Ithki was safe and that's all that mattered.

Nahue misses his mate on most nights, as she takes to the woods to resume her training, leaving him at home to care for Ithki. The loss of his arm takes a toll on him, unable to work as he once did, he leaves his employees to do most of the labor his profession required.

He falls into a deep depression during this time, at which point Nahkokko launched an attack on Manari while she was in the Twelveswood, and on Nahue while he was at home in Gridania. He entered their home, taunting Nahue and his injury. She injured him and knocked him unconscious, waking shortly after Manari made it home, with Ithki nowhere to be found.

Manari left home immediately, not returning for suns while Nahue stayed home and regained his strength, all while grieving for his mate, and their child. Upon her return home, she was broken, hysterical and covered in grime and blood. He cleaned her up, consoling her as best as he could during this traumatic time. Nahue and Manari's relationship grew strained, Manari, now unable to listen to anything Nahue had to say, had gone on nightly trips hunting the Twelveswood. Unsure of what to do, Nahue tried to be there for her as best as he could, and during the day, returned to work, where he slowly began finding his passion again.

It didn't take him long to develop a basic prostethic for his missing limb. It was non-mechanical, but it hid his injury in public and helped him escape his depression.

Ivan took Nahue in when he was just a toddler, finding him all alone in the fields of La Noscea in the middle of the night. He has raised him as his own since then, teaching him everything he knows about machines and technology. Ivan loves his son dearly and couldn't be prouder. Nahue has never really had any desire to search for his birth parents. Ivan has been a fantastic father to him and Ivan is more than he could ever hope for. He considers himself extremely fortunate and proud to be called his son, race be damned.

A family friend ever since Nahue could remember, Gayle has always been there for him and his father. He delivers supplies and parts to Ivan's shop and helps Nahue out with his dead drops. Nahue considers him to be his uncle, and Gayle proudly wears the title.

Friends and acquaintances

Manari Onai: His mate and the love of his life. They found each other on the island of Menphina's breath shortly after the Calamity. Manari caught him stealing food from the nearby village, bringing him to her camp and making sure he was fed and taken care of properly. They grew quite close over the next few weeks before becoming a couple, having been with each other ever since. He loves her utterly and completely and throughout everything, he has been extremely grateful to have her by his side.

Sienna Skye: After returning from the market one evening while he was watching over his father's store, he made no notice of anything out of the ordinary. He went down to the basement to work on his most recent project, to find Sienna poking around. While initially hesitant to trust her, due to her breaking and entering, he eventually befriended the girl, heading of to Ul'dah where they became good friends. Nahue lost track of her just before the Calamity, having since found her again. Their re-acquaintance was nothing Nahue expected but he was nonetheless relieved to see that she was still alive.

J'huiz Suhzu: Nahue was introduced to J'huiz and Ryuiki by Manari, followed by an immediate double date. The four of them got along extremely well and they became really good friends. One day, while Nahue was at the Golden Bazaar, J'huiz happened upon Nahue's stall where they had an interesting conversation, followed by an even more interesting opportunity. Nahue requested that J'huiz accompany him on his trips to and from Gridania, as a bodyguard of sorts, so that he did not have to travel alone. She graciously accepted and the two of them often get into unwanted trouble on their supposed easy trips to and from the city-state.

Ryuki Minami: Nahue was introduced to J'huiz and Ryuiki by Manari, followed by an immediate double date. The four of them got along extremely well and they became really good friends.

Isilme Turuphant: Nahue met Isilme and her wife, Nel on Menphina's Breath, becoming friends with them through Manari. He always looked up to the two, and desired what they had, a happy family. He is always respectful to them and when it came time for him to learn the blade, he came to Isilme upon Manari's suggestion. She agreed to help train him during their stay in Limsa Lominsa, where she pushes him extremely hard, hoping to impart her wisdom upon him.
