RP Hooks

Family and Distant Relatives: It is canon that Alus and Arc did not have any close family members besides their deceased adoptive father, so this would be very easy to implement if you so desired! Looking for Elezen or Miqo'te characters unless you're related by marriage. If you just want to metaphorically adopt them as your siblings or kids, you can try. LOL
Jeweler: Upon hearing his name, you may recognize it as a somewhat renowned Ul'dahn goldsmith known for his skill in sculpting small flowers out of metal in his jewelry and etching beautiful nouveau-style patterns into weapons and armor. Although not the greatest nor most famous goldsmith of Ul'dah by far, he has obtained some renown from eccentrics who adore floral patterns, most likely mostly those who originate from The Shroud - though his designs feel 'off' from traditional patterns and works of the arts in Gridania. This may either feel refreshing to you or slightly irritating, depending on your taste.
Paladin: Although rarely seen in the easily-recognizable Paladin garb as of late, Alus is still one to enforce the law - Those who dare to commit a crime on him (ie pickpocketing) will be surprised to find that he is surprisingly forgiving.. However, you may still be lectured. Those who commit a crime in close proximity to him - especially to a lady - will not be so easily forgiven. If the crime is victimless or has is minor and has no witnesses, he will try to talk to you about it instead of immediately arresting you. If your character is polite, you may walk away completely scot-free -- Alus is unfortunately very trusting and easy to manipulate.
The Fashionista: Alus' favoritism of floral decorations upon his body is seen as surprisingly unusual, especially in Thanalan. I believe just commenting on it is enough to start some sort of conversation, but be forewarned - This guy loves fashion, and will talk about it a lot in detail. It's a good way to make him start talking, but you better know how to reply.
Body Guard?: Although Alus never really specifically looks out for odd jobs outside of the military that expect physical confrontations, he'd still be up for accepting such a job if it were offered to him. He would make an excellent side to someone elegant or rich, or anyone in general who likes to look good, due to his handsome and gentlemanly appearance. Be warned, though - He isn't experienced as a male escort or anything like that. He feels uncomfortable if you try to casually touch him (ie holding his arm, leaning on him, patting him on the back/head/etc.) without asking first.
The Low-voiced Lady: For flirtatious characters who favor women (and have somewhat low perception), hitting on Alus could make for an interesting situation. However, don't accuse him of dating his brother, Arc - he will become irritated quickly. If your character doesn't have a problem with Arc being physically male if he looks girlish, he may feel frustrated if you think of him as fragile.
Cafe Proprietor: Alus has stapled to his back a poster of Cafe Nobilitea - an address and store bells are listed. See "Haven Nobilitea" tab.
Prince on a White Horse: Alus has, in the past, roamed around Thanalan healing adventurers. He usually doesn't stop to talk to them afterwards - just smiles and salutes - and runs off to heal the next person. Although he has done it enough at this point that he doesn't think twice about it, characters who are more lonely or in dire situations may think of him as a savior.
Fellow Militia: Characters employed by the Maelstorm military to carry out war-oriented tasks may remember fighting alongside him and his brother. Alus and Arc are not particularly high-ranked soldiers but deserve respect for their services.
Mistaken Identity: Alus' twin brother, Arc, works at the Drowning Wench in his off-time. Be forewarned though that although they are identical twins physically, many traits of their appearance are different including their hair length, clothing style, color scheme and even some tattoos.
The Elusive Elezen: Is this racism? If you play as an Elezen character, especially an Elezen male, you don't have to do much more than show some interest in Alus for him to follow you until the ends of the earth.

APPEARANCE
Sex Male
Race Miqo'te (Sunseeker descent)
Height 5 fulm 8 ilm (173cm)
Weight It's rude to ask!!
Physique Muscular & slightly burly, built for durability; focus on upper-body and core. Long legs
Hair Golden blonde; raspberry-colored tips. Slightly wavy
Eyes Narrow vertical pupils

Heterochromia - -Gold(left) -Red-purple(right)

Skin Sun-kissed tan in color, no facial blemishes; hands have traces of cuts and small burns on them, but are surprisingly soft. Chest, arms and legs have noticeably large scars and bruises.
Facial Features 4 natural markings around each eye; Neatly trimmed eyebrows; Light makeup; White teeth
At first glance
You spot a dandy man dressed up in flowers-- His lapel has flowers, his hair is riddled with flowers, his jewelry is full of silk flowers, and his hat is practically an entire bouquet of flowers! Pressed pants, spotlessly clean clothes-- His fancy dressing style gives you the impression that he is ready to attend a garden party of nobility at any moment. Hardly no skin is exposed on him besides his face and hands. His brightly colored clothes make him practically radiate cheerfulness. His body language is careful and dignified. He words things carefully with a strong and typically heroic-sounding voice. His smiles are big and exaggerated. Besides his muscle mass, he looks nothing like an adventurer, nor even intimidating enough to be a bouncer. He is followed around by a fledgling Dodo who follows him like it's its' mother. When he gets angry at his brother, he seems to have trouble controlling his body movement and constantly corrects himself.
Seeing him in armor: A 5'8" pile of shining white metal is what most could easily conclude to be a "Paladin". However, his head is exposed -- his long hair flowing freely, and a heavy metal crown of gold sits across his forehead. His shield is big enough to cover his whole body if he was kneeling down, and his sword.. Appears to be made of a soft wood.
You spot a woman?: You spot a handsome Miqo'te woman in a fine noble pink dress; her skin is completely covered besides her face and hands, her clothes clean and beautiful. She tries to avoid making eye contact with anyone around her, and tends to step away from the crowd. She's very unusually tall for a Miqo'te lass, and seems a bit on the huskier side for size. Upon hearing her voice as she speaks to an acquaintance, she speaks in a low man's voice - it could not be mistaken for a female's voice at all. You quickly realize this is a man in drag.
The Rare Nakedness: If you were ever to spot Alus with his legs, arms, or chest exposed - you would see many noticeable scars.

Upon closer inspection
He smells strongly of sweet-scented flowers. His long hair is neatly braided, and his shave is excellently clean-cut. His nails are slightly longer than expected and perfectly manicured, sometimes painted pink. His teeth are a sparkling healthy white. His pants are pressed, his clothes are wrinkleless; This is the most stereotypical depiction of a nobleman that you can imagine.
After being around him for awhile

After being around him for awhile: You come to realize that Alus might just be socially awkward. Although his body language is loud and obnoxious, he is also constantly trying to keep himself in check-- he just doesn't seem to always realize that he's being so obnoxious at first. Maybe he's a hypocrite, though? He really needs to break this habit.

---
Upon meeting Alus for the first time, you will most likely find him cheerful, supportive, talkative, communicative and polite. He apologizes for his brother a little too much if accompanied by him.

Note: The information provided here is very minimal on purpose. This is pretty much how he introduces himself. Please ask him about what you want to know otherwise.
Alus Beauregard is the twin brother of Arc Beauregard, and the adopted son to the travelling Elezen merchant, Gwenneg Beauregard, who named them. He grew up travelling around with Gwenneg and his brother across Eorzea selling herbs and small trinkets. A year or two after the Calamity, the teenage Alus and Arc split up to go their own separate ways; Alus went to a small college for a few years and finally dropped out due to bad grades; his head was always in the clouds about starting an adventure once again. The brothers met again by complete chance and have been as close as they were as children ever since.
Alus acts now a major asset to the Maelstrom military as an adventurer, fighter, and strategist, along with his brother. He seems to regret this choice in life, and seems passionate about solving conflict without bloodshed.. Though he still fights regardless, only after much procrastinating-- Of which the Maelstrom does not appreciate.

    Small boy:

    Young Bewildered Lady:
"I'm new to this city, I had no idea it got this hot during the daytime! This nice man handed me this hat to keep my eyes out of the sun.."

"Whoa, hey, do you think they're together? Those two? He totally looks like the girl in the relationship!"
    Self-Assured Heroic Adventurer:
"What a suspicious person!! That fashion style is definitely suspicious!!"

◢ Uncommon Rumors - A little more difficult to hear. Use sparingly or ask first!

    Irritable Bar Patron:
"This obnoxious white-clad gladiator butted into my private conversation and started spouting out this cliche dramatic crap like 'Never give up! You can do it if you believe in yourself!' I didn't ask his opinion, godsdamnit!"

"He bought up my entire supply of carnations! Should I raise the price just in case he comes back?"

    Kestle Roet, Merchant Prince:
"I've never met a self-professed knight more intent on protecting his hair than on seeking out a damsel or two. Still, he bought every last copy of my failed pre-Calamity stylist's magazine; I'm not complaining."

A life-long dream of Alus' has to be to open a tea house. After saving up money from adventuring and an artistry hobby, Alus finally obtained property within an apartment, and spent a good month decorating to finally open up Cafe Nobilitea.
Upon entering, the feeling of a cool breeze washes over you. Your nostrils are immediately filled with the aroma of sweet cream, then the calming flavor of savory herbal tea. A red-headed Roegadyn woman in an elegant maid's uniform greets you with a calm voice from behind the counter, and motions you to sit wherever you wish. A second after choosing your seat, a Miqo'te maiden appears at your table to supply you with a menu. Nearby, slow piano music plays. A man-- Alus-- sits at the piano, playing with his eyes closed-- he seems unaware of the world around him, even of your entering the cafe. As you look around the room, you realize how blindly brightly colored it is-- A feeling of absolute peace washes over you: this is a place to get away from the gritty worries of reasonable reality.
As you look around the room, you notice several things:
-Above the stove rests a planter full of fresh camomile.
-The cake display near the entrance is riddled with cleverly hidden ice shards, presumably to keep the cakes fresh during business hours. This also seems to help keep the flowers around them fresh, as well.
-The flowers in the vases on the tables are fake, though a convincing fake; the petals seem to be made of silk. You could swear they still smell like real flowers.
-After staring in the direction of the piano for awhile, you actually notice a futon discreetly rolled up in the corner next to the piano. Does he sleep here?
-A bookshelf sits in the corner; nearly every book on it appears to be a fictional adventure novel. You also spot a few romance novels. On the top shelf: a combat technique book for gladiators, several books describing doman techniques for meditation and physical/mental self-betterment, and half a dozen cook books. The only cook book that is untouched is one describing recipes for spicy foods; all the rest are for sweets and desserts-- lovingly worn after frequent reading. A mysterious unmarked book with a hand-made hard leather cover and a small lock on it also catches your eye-- As you pick it up, the cover falls off a bit, and you can read part of it's cover to guess the title: "Tea for Dummies".

    TV Tropes

    Appearance

The Fashionista - One of Alus' major interests and passions is fashion, to the point that it can become self-destructive on his wallet.
    Long-Haired Pretty Boy - Self-explanatory.
Wholesome Crossdresser - Alus tried on a dress one day as a joke, but really liked how cute he looked in it. He becomes easily offended if someone accuses him of being Arc's girlfriend mistakenly.
Flower Motifs - Alus' famed flower hat and flower-themed accessories. Alus also carries around fresh flowers in his bag to give away to strangers.
Light Is Good - Alus feels that pastel or brightly-colored clothing comes off as friendly and cheerful.
Noble Male, Roguish Male - Arc and Alus' contrast in appearance and personality captures this trope to a T.

    Personality

Sibling Yin Yang - Arc's wild, vulgar and pessimistic personality contrasts highly to Alus' polite, optimistic, and blindly trusting traits.
In Touch With His Feminine Side - Alus' interests of tea making, floriography, poetry, fashion, and pacifism are all traditionally more feminine traits. His appearance can also be called feminine.
Love You And Everybody - Alus is overjoyed at the concept of platonic love of his friends and comrades, and is actually really picky of who he deems worthy of real romantic attention. This can be confusing to his acquaintances.
All-Loving Hero - Just read the article.
Hidden Depths - On the surface, Alus comes off as bubbly, simple-minded and innocent, perhaps even stupid or slightly crazy to the more pessimistic mind. In truth, he makes a fantastic gritty philosophical discussion; he thinks every aspect of his morality and way of seeing life to the very last detail.
Stupid Good - Tends to let the law slip a bit in favor of friendliness and happiness. He's not unashamed about it. Perhaps he's even a little spineless, even if he fully believes in the law.
Large Ham - Alus models himself off of old fairytales of heroic knights in shining armor and Prince Charmings, and tends to prattle off heroic guidelines of self-care.
You Talk Too Much - Alus tends to worry about not conveying his words properly, so he just speaks more to make his point as clear as possible.
Stepford Smiler - Alus seems to smile a lot more than other people to the point that his smile becomes creepy, eerie and unnerving to those who dare make him upset - but his expression rarely ever seems completely honest.
Goshdang It To Heck! - Alus finds vulgarity and adult swearing to be some of the worst violations of being a gentleman.
Why Did It Have To Be Snakes - Alus' intense dislike of slugs can sometimes hinder his missions.
Warrior Poet - Tends to overthink his morals.
Cloudcuckoolander - Alus' seemingly random topics of speech can come off as baffling to some people. His way of thinking can be unpredictable to others due to his tendency to live in his own little world.
The Gambling Addict (which is a Compressed Vice) - Alus tends to get really worked up when a game of chance is presented to him, for instance at a carnival or faire. He tends to view most things in life also as a form of gambling, like goldsmithing, cooking, or even battle.
Reluctant Warrior - Technically a pacifist, but not a Technical Pacifist.
Declaration of Protection - Although mostly directed towards his brother (the only one he considers truly a close person to him) Alus always tends to put others' safety in battle before his own.
Cannot Talk To Women - Alus grew up around mostly men, leaving him rather ignorant of women. He tends to look up to and even maybe idolize women, making him very nervous to be around them.
Bare-Fisted Monk - Alus is training in martial arts to help hone his body and mind, and to cause less damage to others and more to himself as a punishment for inflicting pain to begin with. By extension, this trope is Heroes Fight Barehanded in this case.
Doesn't Like Guns - Alus doesn't have any backstory to this. He just really doesn't like the idea of being able to instantly kill someone at the pull of a trigger from a long distance. It's pretty ironic since he's associated with the Maelstrom.
