PREFACE

NAHDU'A RASTAHN is a young Keeper of the Moon just venturing into the first moons of adulthood. Orphaned several years ago, his closest family are his childhood friends, twin brothers, Rhako'a and Rhako'to Sahri. The three have now left their clan and are searching for a way to make it in the vast world on their own. Between keeping the twins out of trouble, and finding a job, Nadhu'a has his work cut out for him on this new path in his life.

RP HOOKS

AFFILIATIONS
Keeper of the Moon: Currently, Nahdu'a has just started his journey away from his home clan as most males do when they reach the age of maturity. His traveling companions are the twins, Rhako'a Sahri and Rhako'to Sahri, and he is rarely seen without the two of them.

LOCATIONS
The Black Shroud: Nahdu'a has yet to travel much outside his forest home, only just recently making it to the city of Gridania. But he does hope to see new city-states and places.

APPEARANCE
NahduWikiBust.jpg

FIRST IMPRESSION
Nahdu'a is on the smaller side for a Miqo'te male. He is relatively fit thanks to living a traditional Keeper life. But he's more small and quick than strong or toned. Nahdu'a still has a young face, framed with slightly roundish features of boyhood. Often described as delicate, or fair, he hasn't really grown into the more hardened features of others his age. His eyes are a vibrant yellow-green. Preferring to keep his hair slightly longer, the color resembles the color of ash and frames his face reaching near shoulder length.

SCARS & MARKINGS
Nahdu'a is fairly free of notable scars, minus the few typical of a boy growing up and getting into trouble. He does have a form of ritual scarification along his forehead, symbolic of healers in his clan coming of age. It is a delicate floral pattern that resembles ivy.

GARMENTS
Typically dressed in earthen tones, and simple tunics that are easy to travel in, Nahdu'a does have a liking for fur-lined coats and the color green. He gets cold easy, so often has more layers than his traveling companions. Nahdu'a has little in the way of armor, his clothing more suited for lightweight travel. Leather or fur lined tunics are usually his only form of protection.

PERSONALITY

DEMEANOR
Nahdu'a has always been a nurturer. Even at a young age he was often bringing back sick or injured animals to be tended and cared for. The medicine women humored him, but it was a habit he really never grew out of. He tends to worry, often getting lost in the what-ifs and could-bes rather than the present. He feels most comfortable around his childhood friends, and is much more open and willing to tease if they're alone. Gentle, compassionate and a bit shy otherwise, Nahdu'a is often a mediator and a voice of reason.

QUIRKS
He can often times go silent, staring at things that do not appear to be there at all. The other boys often write it off as the times he's listening to the Elementals while in the Shroud, but is a thing not limited to the confines of the forest. He also has a remarkable way with animals, even the wild ones.

INTELLIGENCE
Much of his intelligence lies with healing. Trained in conjury by the medicine women of the clan as well as more traditional medicines, Nahdu'a has a vast knowledge of the flora and fauna of the Shroud and their uses. He can read well enough, though sometimes his writing could use work.

HISTORY

EARLY LIFE
Nahdu'a was born into the Rastahn clan an only child and during the cold of winter. For generations, his clan had lived and worked alongside the larger Sahri clan, the two family units each mutual benefiting from one another; the Sahri were a strong, warrior-based clan that excelled at hunting, while the Rastahn were often very gifted in the healing arts or took up trades to tend the home. Nahdu'a's mother was well-loved in the clan, a woman of extreme talents for conjury and a generous heart. It was no surprise to find her son would also have such gifts.

Only a few months after Nahdu'a's birth, the Sahri matriarch bore twin boys, Rhako'a and Rhako'to, that soon became both the pride of the Sahri, and well-known nuisances and troublemakers. Nahdu'a was introduced to them quite young, growing up with them and growing inseparable. For much of their early years, the clan knew if they looked for one, they were almost certain to find three. Nahdu'a was both a balance and a force of stability, and the twins drew out the once shy boy from his shell, often getting him in just as much trouble as the two of them.

Recalling his mother's face has become increasingly harder as the years have passed. When Nahdu'a was six, he was left in the care of some of the elder Rastahn women, as he had been many times before, when his mother was sent with a hunting party. The hunt went severely wrong, leaving one Sahri woman dead, and his mother gored to death by a wild boar. If it was not for Rhako'a and Rhako'to, Nahdu'a would have remained as closed off from the world as he was in the few months after his mother's death. He was taken in by a Rastahn medicine woman by the name of Ota, and he grew to think of her much like a grandmother.

SONG OF THE SHROUD
By the time Nahdu'a was ten, some of the elders had noticed his gifts for conjury. In addition, as a child it was thought he might have the gifts of a Hearer, something common in his mother's bloodline, due to the way he was often found listening intently to things no one else seemed to hear, or staring into the distance woods with a thoughtful look.

It was Ota who began teaching him the ways of both traditional medicine and herbs, as well as honing his conjury and quieting the voices in his head. When he wasn't off with the twins and causing a fuss, Nahdu'a was dutifully absorbing the old woman's words. He knows a vast array of herbs and plants of the Shroud that could be used as both healing supplements as well as poisons. His conjury got quite a bit of use mending the twins' cuts and scrapes typical of growing boys, as well. Ota and the other medicine women had passed down some knowledge of reading and writing, which he took to quite well.

When he turned thirteen, Nahdu'a took part in an old rite passed down by the Rastahn to mark healers who had come to fruition in their teachings. Much was symbolic and for ceremony, but it also involved carving an intricate pattern of vines on the forehead of the individual in a scarification practice to remind themselves the pain often carried by a healer throughout their life. Nahdu'a wears the mark proudly, remembering fondly how his own mother wore one as well, and the way it felt when she touched their foreheads together when he was young.

GROWING UP
As time went by, and Nahdu'a and the twins grew closer to maturity. Some of the clan members, especially the twins' mother, started growing worried at their closeness. None of them seemed to have any interest in any of the other children in the clan, least of all girls their age. There was even a point where they were forbidden to see one another, but the three only grew more withdrawn and interacted even less with others.

For Nahdu'a, he was often told the sons of the matriarch had high expectations placed upon them. He knew they would all be expected to leave the clan soon, and the two would be most pressured to pass on bloodlines of their mother. But he was happiest when he was with the two, and for the years leading up to their coming of age, they and Nahdu'a remained as close as ever.

His beloved Ota would pass quietly in her sleep in the winter of his fifteenth birthday. Nahdu'a was grateful he had not left the clan and could be with her as she did. After losing his mother, and now the figure who had been like one to him, Nahdu'a was left alone. He attributes why he looks after the twins so much to that feeling, wanting to care for someone before it's too late.

RECENT HISTORY

After turning eighteen, Nahdu'a managed to hold off leaving the clan until the twins had a few moons later. Their mother once again seemed hesitant to see the three of them off together, but eventually allowed it. Having only just left their clan, Nahdu'a hopes they will still stay together. They plan to see the world, perhaps get jobs and go on adventures. None of them seem too eager to be in a rush to fulfill the real reason they were sent away just yet.

FAMILY

Expand
Seh'to Jata (Father)
Nahdu'a knows little of his father, and holds no memory of him. His teacher often spoke of how he often frequented their clan at least once a year, fascinated with his mother. He apparently had done so even after Nahdu'a was born, but their coupling never ended in another child. He stopped visiting rather abruptly, and it is safe to assume he may be dead.
Expand
💞 💀 Nahdu Rastahn (Mother)
Nahdu'a's mother was a great medicine woman of the Rastahn clan. It was said she warmed many hearts and was a hard person to forget, but Nahdu'a struggles to recall her face now. She died when he was six, gored by a wild boar while tending an injured hunting party of Sahri. It is why he fears the beasts now.

NPCs

💞 💀 Ota Rastahn
Ota was an aging woman of the clan, blood on his mother's side, that took him in and raised him after the death of his mother when he was six. It was thanks to her he learned to harness his magic and quiet the voices of the Elementals in his head. She passed quietly in her sleep three years ago, leaving Nahdu'a mostly on his own.

PLAYER CHARACTERS

Expand
Rhako'a Sahri
Childhood friend and someone he considers near family, Rhako'a has been a strong and constant force in his life for as long as he can remember. Nahdu'a trusts him absolutely, without question and finds comfort to know he is still at his side now that he has left the clan.
Expand
Childhood friend and someone he considers near family, Rhako'to was often looked at as a bad influence on him by the woman who raised him, but Nahdu'a never cared. While he may be getting the other out of trouble more often than not, he really wouldn't have it any other way and would follow Rhako'to just about anywhere.
Expand
A Keeper the trio met on their way to Gridanina. Extremely open and far too knowledgeable about things, Nahdu'a was almost instantly uncomfortable, especially with how insistently close he was getting to the twins. When he made a move on Koto however, Nahdu'a very nearly broke his nose. He hopes to never see that Miqo'te again.
