Biography

Born as Silvanus Aelius, he was the middle child of a well, politically connected family in the capital of Garlemald. As a Pureblood, he was born a citizen. His father Aemilius fae Aelius is a Senator, and is known to use his children as political pawns, marrying off his eldest two children to politically useful marriages, and organising what careers his children will take. Silvanus scored well at the Academy, especially in languages, combat and geography, and had a strong desire to serve in the military, yet his father had forbid him from joining, as he did not want Silvanus to potentially outshine Faustus, the eldest who had already enlisted when Silvanus started at the Academy and had the potential to rise to Tribunus or higher due to Aemilius’ political maneuvering, and instead tried to push him towards politics and the Senate.

When Silvanus came of age, he legally changed his name to Lucien Argentum and enlisted in the Garlean army. Aemilius disowned him and forbade the rest of the Aelius family from ever contacting Lucien, or even talk about him. Since Aemilius has only ever acknowledged that he has only four children (and later only three following the disowning of the youngest, Cassia).

All records of Silvanus Aelius stop at the point where he changed his name to Lucien Argentum, any prior records of him are either sealed or destroyed, Aemilius doing everything he can to hide and deny the fact that Silvanus ever existed, seeking to hide his ‘shame’.

He did not seem to mind or care that his existence was for all intents and purposes, erased. He was very quickly recruited by the Frumentarii soon after his enlistment. To anyone who asks, he is the only son of Rufus and Priscilla cen Argentum, Civis Fabrilus who lived in one of the Empire’s then outer provinces, and who had passed away in his younger years, Priscilla soon after he enlisted and Rufus about five years later. While enough records and paperwork indicate that they did exist and they have died, it is difficult to tell if they did actually exist, or if someone had somehow managed to forge it to lend further credence to Lucien’s background.

Lucien had met Rufus and Priscilla while wandering the markets of Garlemald during his days at the academy. He swiftly developed a strong friendship with the two and came to regard them as surrogate parents. They kept in contact when he graduated from the Academy and were more than happy to take him in when he left home, but before he changed his name. They allowed him to use their surname, having come to see him as a son they were never able to have.
