A miqo'te man on the higher end of average for his kind, his face bears a couple of scars, evidence of either a tough childhood or battle. He bears the typical facial markings of a male miqo'te, dark grey in colour, and has twin striped tattoos on both sides of his face, also dark grey. His cheeks and nose are generously dusted with dark freckles.
His tail is long and fluffy, and though he does little to care for it outside of brushing it and washing it, it remains soft to the touch. The tip of it is black, with two bands of black below it. His ear tips are also black, with smaller black spots dotting them. His hair is long, and normally kept tied back.
Of a slim build typical to most miqo'te, he still has some degree of muscle build from his time in the Garlean Army, his arms and shoulder muscles are particularly developed from long term practice with his preferred weapon, the lance.
His body he is riddled scars, most of them from combat, some of them his own misadventure. His left arm bears a tattoo of Midgardsormr entwined around the Agrius, the elder wyrm's body and tail further circling around his lower arm, a symbol, he claims, of the Empire besting all those who oppose it, despite the great sacrifices that occur.
When not in Imperial uniform, he tends to wear light makeup, dark grey lip gloss on his lips, and black eyeliner and eyeshadow. His dress when out of uniform is usually comprised of close fitting clothing of cloth or leather, mostly black or red in colour. When travelling and working as his cover of an adventurer he favours a chainmail shirt and trousers, matched with sabatons and short metal gloves, tipped with sharp claws.

Biography

Born as the third of four children, Una’to was born in the city state of Ala Mhigo to the trio of lovers, Una Viqqoh and the twin brothers Thata’zi and Thata’tan Bajhiri. The three were forced to flee the Twelveswood together after gaining the ire of the elementals, opting to leave than to suffer the Greenwrath. The trio often worked odd jobs together, and when times got tough, resorted to theft and banditry to support themselves and their small family. When Theodoric started to become more unhinged and tyrannical they joined up with the Ala Mhigan Resistance, though unbeknown to the other two, Thata’tan was contacted by the Garleans and agreed to become a spy and agent for the Empire if only so that there could be a safe and stable environment for his children to grow up in, especially since his eldest son Una’a was caught up and killed in a riot that was brutally put down by the King’s forces.
When Una’to was just a baby, his parents took in and looked after the Fist of Rhalgr Monk Jackal Ashdale, who had escaped only escaped the destruction of the order because she went to visit her family. Jackal became another parent to Una’to and his siblings, often referred to as ‘Auntie Jack’ and was named Una’to’s godmother. She often looked after them when their parents were out, teaching them to read and write, as well as giving them a good religious education about Rhalgr, so that the next generation would not forget about the god their nation truly worshipped.
Una’to was just six when Theodoric died and the Garleans invaded, and during the confusion and chaos he was separated from his family but was found by Thata’tan. His father was unable to find the rest of his family in time to leave the city with his handlers, and was forced to leave with just Una’to. The life that Thata’tan desired was not the reality for him and Una’to, the pair treated like second class citizens due to being the people of a newly conquered nation, something that Thata’tan remained bitter about for the rest of his days, the older man falling into alcoholism and despair, dying soon after Una’to turned fifteen. Hearing about how conquered people such as himself could rise above their stations and become regarded as full, proper citizens of the Garlean nation, Una’to willingly enlisted in the Garlean army just days after his father’s passing and burial.
He worked hard in the army, and was quickly noticed and recruited into the Frumentarii, following in the footsteps of his father, though this time as an official member, not as a foreign agent. He was still officially listed as a member of the Garlean army, and was charged with rooting out spies and resistance members from within the Garlean army, something he was quite successful at. Eventually he was tasked with infiltrating Eorzea to try and work out its current state of defenses and the political situation strictly as an observer, not to to act on any destabilisation efforts until he was ordered to do so.
Finding a cover was almost laughably easy, with adventures being a gil a dozen and incredibly easy to become. With adventurers travelling about the realm, he had the perfect excuse to be able to travel unhindered around Eorzea and have eyes and ears in places the Empire could not easily get to.
Only a few sennights into his assignment in Eorzea, he awoke after a strange dream, in which he heard a strange voice bidding him to "Hear, feel, think". Though he did not understand what it was about or what had happened to him until sometime later when he was struck by a fierce headache, strong enough to render him unconscious. When he was unconscious he had a vision, a trio of adventurers in Thanalan talking about making their way to Mor Dhona for a battle that was beginning shortly. He was equally intrigued and disturbed by the vision, especially when he came across a lichyard in his travels and finding the names of the adventurers from his vision, the trio long dead, killed in the Calamity. Upon that realisation it didn't take him long to realise that he bore the Echo, a disturbing power that some Eorzeans bore. Terrified at this, he did not tell his superiors, worried about what would happen to him should they find out that was now a carrier of the Echo.
Despite these powers and what it would mean if the Empire ever found out that he had them, he still loyally served the Empire, travelling, spying, and reporting what he knew and discovered. Shortly after the Dragonsong War had finished, he found himself tapped on the shoulder and recruited into the Fustuarium, a Garlean black-ops organisation which focused mostly on tracking down Imperial deserters and traitors, and either bringing them back into the fold, or eliminating them. While he was able to assist them in a handful of their missions, orders from Lucien Argentum sent him to the Dravanian Hinterlands and searching through the Great Gubal Library, and kept him unable to assist in most further missions for some time, though he kept in contact with the group via linkpearl.
He would eventually finish up his orders in Dravania, return to Eorzea proper, and finally be able to be in a position to take part in further Fustuarium missions, just in time to be caught up in the politicking and scheming of the other factions, an elaborate revenge plan by the head of the Red by using the White, to try and Purge the faction he belonged to, the Black. It was during these events that Zheng Diremite had revealed that he knew about Una'to's Echo abilities, yet assured the miqo'te that he would not let them be known by others, all he had to do was lend his abilities to root out the traitor in the Black. He eagerly agreed.
Along with another Echo bearer, he assisted in finding out the identity of the traitor in the Black, none other than the leader of the Red, who had infiltrated and pretended to be a lower ranking member of the Black, and he managed to survive the climactic events of the Black vs the Red and the White. Afterwards the Fustuarium was officially disbanded, with survivors being granted the choice to join STELLA. He accepted.
While he was unable to be officially recognised for his actions in an official capacity, he was given a medal in private by Zheng for his own contribution in the final days of the Fusturarium.

Relationships

Romantic Interest, Sexual Interest, Platonic Love, Good Standing, Neutral Standing, Poor Standing

Romantic Interest

Platonic Love

/● Thata'tan Bajhiri (deceased) - Una'to's father. Though he loved the man, the fact that he spent the latter years as a drunk and was often violent towards him has left Una'to saddened and a touch bitter about his sire

Good Standing

/♦ Lucien Argentum - his mentor in the Frumentarii, and someone that he looks up to as a surrogate parent (not that he would openly admit that). One of two people that the miqo'te trusts.
Zheng Diremite - Una'to's former superior in the Fustuarium and current superior in STELLA, Zheng knows of and keeps secret Una'to's Echo ability. One of two people who the miqo'te trusts.

Neutral Standing

Poor Standing

Iulius jen Kathrana - Una'to has had a dislike for the young pureblood since shortly after his second mission with the Fustuarium, angered by Iulius's (racist) dismissal of Una'to trying to explain why he did not want to be called 'Una'. Iulius has continued to be dismissive and racist towards the miqo'te, combined the pureblood's other behaviours doing little to change Una'to's feelings about the man.
Arenwyth - Former leader of the Fustuarium's Red faction, she infiltrated the Black faction and tried to orchestrate their demise as revenge for the Black's involvement in Ala Mhigo. She failed. Una'to has no trust or respect for her, as she could have led to the deaths of his faction and their families, and had already caused civilian injuries and deaths. He is inwardly angry at her seemingly managing to escape with little negative repercussions or punishment for her actions.
