A Roegadyn woman of mysterious birth, adopted by Hyur nobles she soon decides to become a 'knight' and help all those in need. After training for many years she finally was given permission to seek adventure on her own terms and now wanders across Eorzea, in search for new experiences, friends, enemies and a chance to prove her worth no matter how many scars she gains along the way!
Mel is very tall, even for a Roegadyn with a toned yet soft build of 'robust' features of the most feminine description. Her skin is a deep tan brown, with a small beauty mark near her plush lips. She has bright purple eyes that she often outlines with make-up, full lips which she often applies just a small bit of balm to give her lips a 'shine'. Her long, back length hair is stark white which offsets her dark skin and she usually has it made up in a variety of styles depending on her mood and/or the situation at hand, though she usually has it pulled back into a long braid, leaving her bangs to sometimes cover her eyes and the hair at the sides of her head was styled into 'drills' which usually drape across her chest. Though usually, she whenever she does change her style it's usually always in such a way to make sure to cover her forehead as there is a tattoo she has had on her forehead since apparently she was a baby and is very self-conscious about it.
She is a strong willed yet compassionate woman. While maintaining an image of grace, poise and of a cool exterior, she also allows people to see just how warm her heart can be. She never turns away from a friend in need and has often taken a hit meant for a friend. She is honest and rarely lies, which sometimes gets her into quite a bit of trouble from time to time. Friendly and outspoken, she will tell you exactly what she thinks of you but will always (unless you are of ill repute) tread her words carefully as not to offend. She comes off a bit of a loner but is often shocked when people are too intimidated by her to talk to her. She is confident in herself and in her abilities and though it doesn't show often, when her temper flares up, you can usually bet 'something' is going to end up being broken/thrown/bent. Though she'd never admit she was the least bit vain, she often does give into maintaining her feminine side. She lives by a self imposed code of chivalry and this seems almost archaic, some of these codes are thus, it prevents her from lying/tolerating liars, it prevents her to give in to stealing and it prevents her from substituting vulgarity for wit. She believes that she must make herself a worthy and honorable person as homage to her foster parent's kindness in raising her. She is rather intelligent, she would never claim to be as smart as any scholar, but owes much of her knowledge to experiences and her upbringing. When a man catches her eye, which is very rare, she will often gravitate towards them and will find herself acting a little more 'girly' than she would like and often becomes all more of a 'klutz' when around them. She isn't opposed to flirting, though often does so in a platonic sense. In contrast to some would say her 'prudish' mannerism, she is actually quite fine with wearing little to no clothing as she is not ashamed of her body, that being said, those who would 'try' and see this side of her without her permission usually end up being thrown IN to or OVER a nearby wall as she's also not afraid to show off her above average strength either.
Melisandra was born to the Hellsguard race, but other than that, she doesn't know much else. According to her Hyur foster parents she was found at the side of the road, nestled in the middle of a large patch of wild flowers. Her foster parents, Lord and Lady Masters, perhaps feeling sorry for the young Roegadyn decided to adopt her as their ward. Though not versed in any of the Roegadyn customs or traditions, they decided to give her a name and a place with their family, which already contained several children, mostly boys, of their own. Melisandra knew she was different from the first time she could comprehend it. She was bigger than most girls, even most children her age, bigger and stronger as well, she also had a tendency towards physically showing her emotions, her parents decided it would be best to help 'hone' those urges of hers into something more constructive. Whilst her mother wanted her education to be of the book and dress, her father on the other hand thought that would only frustrate her and decided (secretly) to also allow Melisandra to use her physical prowess towards more martial practices. Soon after she was trained in almost every conceivable weapon she could get her hands on, having a seeming knack for them she picked them up quickly, though of course would still be prone to bouts of rage, she found that her mother's studies actually helped to calm her down and to control those angry feelings. On top of her knack for 'war' she also found she had a love of nature and wanted to help people with her abilities, so her mother consented to having Melisandra learn Conjury. Soon though Melisandra got bored and listless always being around the manor, never really doing anything but always wanting to dedicate herself to a cause. She always looked up to her elder brothers for they off exploring the world as knights or studying abroad and so she asked for the same. Though her parents were hesitant they finally consented on her twentieth nameday she was given everything, including her grandmothers armor (which was modified of course) and was allowed to leave on the promise to send home letters on a bi-weekly basis. She found herself wandering around Eorzea, helping out those in need, honing her abilities, camping, fighting monsters, running away from monsters and learning new things almost every day. She found herself soon joining the Ul'dah Grand Company, as a way of not only making a name for herself, but also as a way to become more independent money wise. Having gained access to the City-State of Ishgard, she was amazed and impressed by how different the cultures and general 'attitude' of both the leadership and the citizenry between Ishgard and the Grand Companies. She was also, admittedly, a little enthusiastic to learn new things when it came to training and has taken it upon herself to learn all of the martial and magical professions that this archaic if not interesting new place has to offer her.

She does not know of any of her 'biological' family, but of her adoptive parents and siblings. She has two brothers and a sister along with her mother and father. They still keep in touch, wishes she would tone down on her more 'physical' side of things, get this adventuring out of her system, find a nice man and pop out a few kids.
