Garlemald was once a small, weak republic, one that was constantly abused and marginalized by its neighbors due to its inhabitants' inability to wield any form of magic whatsoever. However, what it did have was determination and creativity, which allowed it to invent 'magitek', technology that was capable of replicating the effects of magic (and doing some things magic cannot) through science. With this technology, and the ingenious military reforms of the later Emperor Solus, they quickly and ruthlessly conquered the whole of their home continent of Islabard, uniting it and reforming themselves as the Garlean Empire. From here, they decided to strike against the people's of other continents, crossing a land-bridge between Islabard and Eorzea to launch a devastating invasion. Wide swaths of territory were laid to waste, but the newly-formed Eorzean Alliance did not give way. Seeking a quick and permenant resolution to the Eorzeans and the threat posed by the Primals of the Beast Tribes, Legatus Nael van Darnus of the VIIth legion devised Project Meteor. By use of ancient Allagan technology, he would drop the 'lesser' moon of Dalamud on Eorzea, destroying it in its totality.

Gaius van Balsar, Legatus of the XIVth Legion, objected strenuously. Eorzea was to be conquered, not destroyed. Such loss of life and resources was as stupid as it was cruel, but he was overruled by Emperor Solus. Project Meteor would be implemented with all due dispatch and secrecy. van Balsar committed treason by assisting, if subtly, the heroes of Eorzea with information and resources to use against Darnus in preventing this Calamity from occuring. Weeding out sympathizers amongst the legions deployed to the continent, he (through intermediaries and other deceptive techniques) fed them enough information to turn them against the Empire entirely, defectors due to their consciences. Amongst these defectors was Aeliana Quirinus, a half-Garlean young woman.

Alaisia Bloodsong had spent her entire life fighting, training to fight, or waiting for either of the two former options to present themselves. She was good at it, too, besting seasoned warriors in duels before she saw fifteen summers, much to the loser’s chagrin and the observers’ hilarity. She attended many raids and assaults during her life, but it was during her twenty first year of life that everything changed.

Aeliana Quirinus didn't have the most auspicious start to life. Her mother, a Tribune of the VIIth Legion, found herself having custody of a handsome young man from Sharlayan, a powerful spell-caster that had for several years resided on the 'barbarian' continent of Eorzea in order to study the magics of its beast-tribes. Deciding to reward herself for her victory over such lesser people as these, she made him her lover. She was beautiful enough that it wasn't the worst fate the member of a conquered populace could have, but she cared little for what he wanted and was more than willing to threaten not only himself but those he cared for with nightmarish things if he wouldn't become what amounted to a sex slave. Whether she was looking to take a break from the military, wanted to breed a magical Garlean, or simply was to lost in her rapacious passions to take contraceptives, the Tribune became pregnant.
The Kharlu and the Jhungid’s annual battle was about to begin, and the Elders had decided that it was really quite rude of the two tribes to have their little squabble without inviting the best warriors in all the land to join in. The fact that it was a personal issue between the two tribes for the purpose of claiming territory and resources was utterly irrelevant to the leaders of the Dotharl. Why should it matter what they were fighting about? The point was that they were fighting, and the Dotharl were going to go after both of them at the same time.

When the two clans joined battle, the Elders sounded the war-horns and the Dotharl swept out of the hills howling war-cries. They smashed into the two battling clans, who promptly put aside their differences to turn against their mutual enemy. The battle turned into a chaotic melee, everyone fighting everyone, and the ground became mud from the blood of hundreds.

Alaisia cut her way through the chaos into the Kharlu encampment, seeking loot of both the material and the flesh kind for herself, a not-unpopular way to gain prestige and power amongst her people. It was then, however, that she found herself face to face with a creature she had never seen before, what she would later find out was an elezen female.

A prisoner of the Kharlu, she none the less claimed a weapon to defend the women and children of her captors. Alaisia hesitated, admiring this foreign beauty that she found herself desiring to claim. However, something about her courage in the face of the blood-soaked Dotharl killer stayed Alaisia’s hand, calmed the singing of her blood. She found herself reluctant to harm the girl and those she protected. Instead, against all expectations, she showed them a way to escape and kept other pillaging Dotharl from catching them.

Over the following months, she found herself sparing enemies, both combatant and civilian, more and more, in direct opposition to both her upbringing and the commands of the Elders. Finally, she was discovered and forced to flee. The Dotharl caught up to her and exacted punishment on her flesh, leaving her a tortured, bleeding wreck near death.

Fate, however, had a different plan.

The Elezen she had spared had appeared as if by magic, hands shimmering with healing magic and compassionate eyes. The Elezen, who introduced herself as Astrelle De’bayle in broken Xaelic, had healed her wounds and carried her to safety.

When she recovered, she swore that she would be more than what her upbringing had made her. She would be like this Elezen and her people. She would protect those who couldn’t protect themselves, rescue those in need. Just as Astrelle had for her.

For several years did Alaisia remain at Astrelle’s side, learning the language and culture of Eorzea and teaching the Ishgardian Xaelic in turn. However, word soon reached Alaisia’s ears that the Dotharl knew of her survival and were searching for her. Unwilling to put her dear friend in danger, the renegade Dotharl had lied, claiming she was going to Eorzea to fight against the Primal threat.
+

Finding one of the Dotharl search parties, she crushed them and informed them that she was leaving Othard behind, and that anyone who continued to hunt her would not return to their homeland, before she left them to report to their Elders.

Boarding a merchant ship, she cast one final look at her homeland, and the smiling and waving Elezen on the docks, until they fell from view. Resolute in her decision, she pushed aside the pain at the knowledge that she would never again see Astrelle and looked to the feature.

As Fate would have it, the gods willed that the pair would meet again on the warm, sandy shores of Costa Del Sol.

Alaisia spent the next few years fighting Eikons, Imperials, Bandits, and anything else that threatened the peace of her dearest friend's home continent. Each time she felled an Eikon, she had it's name tattooed on her shoulder blades in kanji, marking with her body her efforts towards repentance. She rarely interacted with the natives, who were unused to the presence of an Au Ra in a land that did not have them naturally. As a result, her mythos grew to that of a strange, red-eyed being that would show up for a fight, before leaving without speaking a single word. Overtime she grew somewhat more relaxed, especially when the refugees of Doma arrived. She began to visit the cities more often, relaxing in Cantinas and wandering the capitals in between battles. Soon enough she found herself searching for Astrelle, having heard that her family's 'wandering daughter' had returned home. It would be some time, though, before they were reunited.

In the fullness of time, Alaisia (quite by accident) happened across Astrelle in Costa del Sol, reuniting the two friends at last, though they would have to part company again. Least of all because of her family's prejudices against Au Ra, Ishgardian born that they were. As such, they exchanged linkpearl information and parted again, meeting occasionally in places such as Ul'dah. Soon enough, Astrelle sent a young Raen named Natsuki Rokutachi to meet with her. A friend met after Alaisia had left for Eorzea, she hoped that Natsuki and Alaisia would get along well enough. Fortunatly, despite the Xaela/Raen divide, the pair is able to interact on amiable terms

"The cycle of life and death continues. We will live; they will die."

Appearance
Hair & Eyes
Aeliana keeps her hair short, preventing it from being used against her as leverage in close combat or from getting caught on anything in the environment. Her bangs are long and carefully arranged to veil, but not hide, the third eye that is a relic of her unwanted ancestry. Her eyes are heterochromatic, the right being a liquid violet and the left being a deep burgundy. They are often cold and expressionless when in public.
Physique & Markings
Aeliana has spent the entirety of her life fighting for survival, and it shows. She is in perfect shape for fighting. Her body is powerfully muscled despite her small stature, wiry but not unfeminine. Her bust is fairly large for a Midlander, a large B or small C. The most notable tattoos Aeliana bares are the Emblems of each primal she has slain on her shoulders. The most visible are the two rune-like marks on her cheeks. Aeliana has plenty of scars, the legacy of a lifetime of abuses from her neighbors and battles, only one of which an average person will see: a small gouge across the bridge of her nose.
Hygiene & Attire
Though she is a Soldier of Fortune, a rather more high-society mercenary than the usual gutter-scum, Aeliana is a mercenary all the same. She has little problem with getting dirtied and bloodied when necessary, even if the benefits of finery and perfumes (such as beautiful, sheltered maidens whose hearts quicken at the attentions of a dashing rogue) are something that she very much enjoys indulging in.
Aeliana is almost always wearing armor of some kind, predominantly medium or heavy armor to suit her preferred styles of combat. She also prefers to wear darker colors, trending heavily towards black. This is mostly because her ‘casual clothes’ would have her mistaken for a street dancer or a courtesan, and breaking the fingers of wandering hands quickly grows dull./div>
Personality
Psychological Profile
Aeliana is, at her core, a broken person desperately seeking validation in her value. Abused and rejected by her family for being the child of a Garlean occupier and the man she had raped, abused and rejected by her neighbors, abused and rejected by the Garleans, abused and rejected by many in Eorzea. All for the crime of being born, all for things beyond her power or will. Bereft of anyone who saw value in her, she suffers in silence and drowns her pain in drink, women, battle, and its spoils. Whether she will find a new purpose or someone who cares for her existence before she dies in battle, no one can say.
Voice
Aeliana's voice is husky and low, often devoid of emotion beyond snarky sarcasm when interacting with strangers. Only for a select few are allowed to hear anything else in her voice. [Jennifer Hale aka Commander Shepard]
Philosophy & Mannerisms
Trained from birth to believe that she has no value and her existence is worthless, Aeliana throws herself into battle with reckless abandon, uncaring of the potential for injuries so long as she gains victory. She is well-regarded by the members of the Alliance that she fight behinds, for though she is often in a position of authority over them, she always leads from the front and is more than willing to give her own life to preserve theirs. However, that regard goes hand in hand with fear and distrust, because following a leader that many call 'Deathseeker' is a dangerous thing indeed. A broken bird, Aeliana is desperately hoping that someone will nurse her back to health and help her spread her wings.

Low: Self-Control/Self-preservation
Non-Combat Abilities
(Passive) All-consuming Apathy: Aeliana is someone who sees no value in themself, and struggles to imagine anyone else can see value in her. As such, she has little care for self-preservation, and it shows with every action she takes and word she speaks. Simply put, Aeliana doesn't care anymore.
Kinesthesia and Situational Awareness: Aeliana learns by doing, which is how she is able to fight in so many different ways. While she enjoys reading, she has significant difficulty learning in this way. She is also what some might call paranoid, thought she prefers to think of it as high situational awareness and cautionary attitude.
Combat Abilities
(Passive)Soldier of Fortune Aeliana has dedicated her entire life to gathering material goods and experiencing carnal pleasures, trying to fill the void in her heart where the love of family and friend ought to reside. As such, she has middling to expert skills in gathering, crafting, and warfare.
My Life for Yours Aeliana will greatly enhance her speed, essentially teleporting herself to a fixed point to either attack or defend a targeted individual. Should only be used very rarely due to potential for disorientation and the not-insignificant aetherial cost.
Voice of the Damned: Aeliana focuses her aether to her vocal cords and lets lose a high-pitched shrieking sound that is severely debilitating and disorienting to those in ear shot. Given that it effects ANYONE in audible range, it cannot be used with allies except in the most dire of circumstances.
Sacrifice Aeliana channels a dangerous amount of aether into a large explosion of magic around herself, making herself critically vulnerable until she recovers. A move of desperation, performed only when she feels outmatched by multiple opponents.
Shatterpoint: Aeliana tends to focus on placing significant strength behind her blows while targeting certain points of her enemy or the landscape. These blows, while powerful, are ungainly. They often miss with devastating results to whatever they ultimately hit
(Limit Break)Deathseeker: When the battle turns grim and defeat is imminent, when a hero becomes so inspired they push beyond their boundaries, when a long slumbering power is awoken, a person's Limit Break is revealed. Aeliana trades damage now for damage later, significantly increasing her physical abilities (speed, strength, etc.) while damaging her muscles severely. If she failed to defeat her opponent within a short time frame of activation, she would be overwhelmed by pain and weakness, becoming utterly helpless.

NPC Rumors

Some of these rumors are untrue, speculation, or are greatly exaggerated.

◢ Common Rumors - Easily overheard. Use these freely!
"I heard she's obsessed with chocolate. Utterly obsessed." — Random Merchant.
"I worry about her, I really do. Always coming into the city bloody and in tattered clothes, half-dead because she took some damn fool mission alone, stumbling off to the Quicksand to collapse. Damn girl needs to accept help from time to time!." — Exasperated City Guard.
"That girl will seduce anything with two legs an a pair of tits, you know! I heard she once had every Songbird at once! Left them singing her praises after keeping them in that inn room for three whole days!Gods, I'd love to have her as a client. Hells, I'd be HER client!" — Lustful Ul'dahn Dancer.
"She's a maniac, psychotic! Just randomly attacks men for no reason in the Quicksand or the streets, she does! She needs to get locked up 'fore she can hurt someone too badly!" — Brass Blade later killed by a female Raen Samurai he tried to sexually assault. .
◢ Uncommon Rumors - A little more difficult to hear. Use sparingly or ask first!
"I heard she's actually a real big softy. Loves the kids, rescues the damsels, the whole knight-in-shining-armor deal. Minus the shining armor, of course. She prefers black." — Grand Company Fighter.
"I heard that she's a Garlean of some sort, from up there in Islabard don't you know?" — Tavern Keeper.
◢ Rare Rumors - Very rarely overheard. Please ask before using!
"Heard her mother was some Tribunus way back when, raped some poor bastard she took a fancy too after one of the Conquests. Guess he was some sort of super-magician an' she hoped to breed a magical Garlean baby. 'pose it worked, didn't it?" — Seafaring Merchants.
"Some people say she's lookin' for redemption. For what, who can say, but I bet it was some real dark stuff." — Adventurer.

The following items are things that this individual carries on their person at all times. These are noted for pickpockets, and those watching her closely. This information is meant to be a prompt for insight and is not to be meta-gamed, though feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in RP (pickpocketing, a search, etc) with use of a simple /tell.

RP Limits
I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. If something is on the play list, assume it means yes, as long as it's within the context of the current play or ongoing plot. No's are typically a hard no, and it means don't ask.
I will play almost any kind of RP. Anything with permanent, IC effects must be cleared with me first. .
Ask about any sort of ERP or long-term IC effects. .
I won't play anything I don't want to! .
RP Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. Longer plots that are meant to run for more than a few quick RP's, please feel free to send me a tell so we can work out a good reason for our characters to get to know one another. I'm always looking for RP, unless I'm actively spamming PvE content.
Being recognized by other Garlean Roleplayers from her time in the Legions
Being recognized by people who've watched her seduce someone.
Being recognized by other adventurers or random passers-by for her various engagements with the Empire or other threats.

Player Note
There is a lot of information on this character wiki, but it is by no means completely comprehensive. There are chunks of backstory that are left intentionally vague so that details can be later added as developed through creative writing or in role-play revelation. Feel free to use Common or Uncommon rumors freely, if you want to use a Rare Rumor as a plot hook or to spark RP, I would ask that you send me a tell first, to make certain it's alright.
