Two entire decades lay waste as subject to the destruction of a brilliant civilization, all due to the murderous rampage of a Garlean Empire that thirsted for bloodshed and conquer. A city-state that previously stood tall within the beautiful waterfalls of the far east, Doma was a place to call home before the calamity. Culture thrived, families shared stories from years past about patient flowerbeds and lively dances. Balls and events glorifying the peace that united the people of Doma, until their lives were almost torn to the ground, buildings reduced to rubble and peace now replaced with fear. Memories still linger over the chorus of laughter and sound of shoes echoing through a dance hall. Now the voices of man and woman linger throughout the crumbling walls of Doma. Backs aching, striped by whips, and knees buckling from grueling labour. Some generations wished their children could live the childhood they did within the walls of their home, but now they are met with the workload initiated by the Garlean Empire. The mother to three, a Scholar to the royals, so frequently attests to this wish. Her hands clasped and tears brimming in whitened eyes. She lay blind prior to losing her sight during a workplace accident, but retained the sight to see the torturous society she raised her children within. "We danced to strings in tune and laughed until we ached." Such delightful memories now solemn. "I wish you could remember." YET, SHE DOES NOT. Remembering would be difficult for a child at her age. Only three into the years of her life, the empire took over and rose against the peaceful city-state. Barely does she remember being held within her father's arms while being shielded from the crumbling debris; the yelling of neighbors only faintly ring in her ears, but the imprint of her family's hands within hers will forever linger. From the words of other Scholars, to the accounts of eye-witnesses, the stories of her and her people are written within books and books. As she grows, the Raen girl named after a love of ivory florals is raised within the grasps of poverty but in the lap of luxury for such a civilization. Prior to the calamity, her mother and father were members of the castle. Her mother worked and thrived as a Scholar for the city-state. She lead a force of healers for the warriors and for the ill, all whilst being a record keeper for their kingdom. They would never forget their past, she would not let them. Then, her father worked closely with the generals of the militia, being a tactical planner for their military endeavours. The castle was her home, and the kingdom her friend. The Garlean Empire took interest in the fantastic abilities Airi's mother and father showed once the calamity occured. Both were offered gracious positions beneath the new owner of the throne. With loyalty in their veins, they denied. Yet, desperation overtook them and her father accepted the offer. Soon becoming a mapmaker for the Garlean Empire while her mother worked with other women within a dirtied kitchen. Her eldest brother, seven years older than Airi at the mark of desperation, (nine,) took to the labour force. While, her second-eldest brother at age fourteen, took to becoming a blacksmith for the empire. Airi was left with attending her mother in kitchen, learning texts and talents a girl her age was not encouraged to learn within the empire. INTELLIGENCE COULD BE SEEN as an act of rebellion within the empire. With the intelligence to overthrow or rebel against the punishing taxes of the Garlean Empire, there were children often taken from families to prevent such an uprising. So, Airi's studies were left as acts within the night, shielded by a cloak of darkness. She practiced and learned the arts of her civilization's prides. She studied the history of her great nation from the lips of their biographer. Then, at the age of fifteen, her mother bestowed her a gift left to her from the Scholars of their past. A Soul Crystal, one to connect her with the true history of Scholars. Within the fifteen years of this lifetime, she only met the small Faerie twice. A precious being named Peach, one who cared for Airi as did her mother and one who was equally as affectionate. She only wished the empire she lay trapped against treated her as affectionately. Her brothers were sentenced to fighting their battles after creating their weapons, standing in a line of faceless warriors and traitors of their time. Her father retained his position, especially against this harrowing time for the Empire, but her mother is now trapped as a loose end, sight lost due to an accident within the kitchen. Airi lingers on the accident to this day, as neither the Garlean Officer present during the accident, nor her mother, stray far from the pre-planned details they share. Around this time, the girl of white jasmines and love grew tired behind the empire walls. A world to learn would not be learned behind crumbled walls, and a civilization that cries for rediscovering is no longer falling upon deafened ears. Her mother encouraged her escape, and as the infamous Yuigiri Mistwalker fled, so did Airi. WITH A KNAPSACK OF GIL, a collection of important books retaining to Doman history, and a Faerie to keep her safe; Airi escaped with other Doma refugees and then chose to explore the rest of Eorzea. Versus helping the fight against the Empire just yet, she scrambles to write and align the history of each land with one another, hoping to search for secrets and pieces to the puzzle of the Garlean Empire's strength. She did not maintain a home for herself within Eorzea, but travels with a bag on her back and a wolf companion to provide as a mount. With each passing city and state, Airi is one who is full of questions. More frequently than some, the situation tends to lead her in more trouble than she intends. But, trust, she is but a curious Scholar and not someone preparing a devious plan. She is hunting for answers, and seems forever to be. FOLLOWING THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT'S SUCCESS in freeing Doma from Garlean oppression and leading her people into a new era, the Raen has just enough information to reclaim the Doman history her people lost throughout the years for turmoil- yet.. It was not enough, the Auri returned for a moment to be reunited with what family she could find once again. Her mother, although forever blinded, recognized the Aura as soon as she arrived home. With a shake to her elderly form, she wrapped her arms around Airi in the tightest hug imaginable and her brothers soon shortly joined after. The reunion occurred in front of the slow but sure reconstruction of their family's new estate, right beside the building in which Lord Hien took refuge. It was not long before Airi requested a seat with Hien herself, presenting countless of scrolls and books all in Doman text. All of it was history transcribed from Eorzean and Hingan text, all of it regarding the flourish of Doma, the fall, and now the reconstruction of their great nation, and all of it now protected within the sight of royalty. Not all was as good as it seemed, however. Her father had been missing for years now, only occasionally sending money and items to barter with. A stubbornness came over her, and her return to Doma was short lived. She did return to Eorzea to continue her search for Doma's full history, (as only so many living within the new Doma could even remember their time before the collapse,) but to also find passage to find her father, a new member of the Garlemald militia- it seemed. Brought upon Eorzea from Menphinia's hands, she stands stretched and chin leveled to the earth she walks upon. Limbs lithe, slight definition an artist's insight against her pallid skin, she motions gingerly with every contract and retract of her muscles. Though the Goddesses and Gods of their world did not grace her with the muscles of a Roe, she keeps her scales pristine to a glimmer that scatter 'round her figure. They gather at her jowls on her face, they keep her knowledge safe upon her forehead, they climb down her arms like veins, and gather at her thighs and calves. Ivory in color, they retain a tad purple color outlined by her skin, but it shares promise to the strong Au Ra blood in her veins. After all, with the gracefulness and flexibility of her curved figure, (dipped at the waist more than some and pleasantly blessed at the chest more than other Au Ra,) she still moves with the fluidity of a dragon her ancestors praised. The world has moved in waves upon her shoals, crashing and eroding the hardened surface the Gods tried to give her in apology to her patient nature, but, instead, a kindhearted and regal woman came abirth from Menphinia's light. She is what a mother is destined to be: patient and soft-spoken, but she instead resembles a child with her gentle touches abundant with curiosity, or the all-too easy flush of her cheeks when scenarios run awry. Though, brimming with a great and vast intelligence as the Scholars did before her, she maintains that curiosity of a newborn babe. She is tactile as one as well, grasping onto anything and everything at reach; not only with a mind to study, examining the material or thing in her hands, but to keep the world 'round her grounded. She once lost a home, lost a family, and lost the remnants of a culture once thriving- she will not let go again in risks of losing anything else. But, while the loss is so abundant, the tears that brimmed her blue eyes do not shed for the world, but remain locked behind a closed smile.
