Character

General

Alexis is a young Midlander woman who can usually be seen with a smile on her face. Through her upbringing, she has become quite the hot headed woman and can often be found getting involved in situations that don't necessarily require her input. She tries her hardest to avoid those who label themselves nobles and wealthy, and takes great issue with those who are corrupt and take advantage over others. Finally leaving her home and exploring the world is what drives this girl forwards, with the promise to help those who aren't able to help themselves always in her mind. She is quick to jump to conclusions, despite being educated, and her inexperience with the world often causes her to find more trouble than she's ready to take on.

Appearance

Height

Alexis is slightly shorter than the average Hyur of her age. Due to this fact, when debating with others she has developed the habit of standing on the tips of her toes to create the illusion that she's slightly taller than she actually is.

Weight

Alexis is of average weight for a Hyur woman of her age.

Body

Alexis' body structure is rather slim, despite her average weight. Her arms, stomach and legs are all toned, suggesting this woman takes some time out of her day to keep herself in shape. Despite this, her bosom and her rear are both rather slim. It could almost be said that she's lacking in both areas.

Complexion

Alexis' skin colour is very dark and matches that of her mother. She has no visible tattoos, scars or piercings - leaving her skin in a smooth and healthy condition.

Hair

Alexis is almost always found with her bright blonde hair tied up into a small knot at the back of her head, creating the illusion that it's very short. 

Eyes

Alexis' eyes are both a deep green colour. She has large, round eyes that can be seen darting around with curiousity whenever she finds herself in a new place or city.

Fashion

Alexis' fashion is at both ends of the spectrum. On some days, she'll be seen wearing a long robe embroidered with fancy symbols and sigils. On others, she'll be seen wearing what can almost be labelled as rags, claiming she's moving to "comfort over style".

Behavior

Due to her rebellious upbringing, Alexis can often be labelled a loudmouth. She has no issue with expressing her disagreement with others, and often finds herself in heated arguments because of her attitude. At times she is known to be rude to those supplying something to her, especially if it doesn't live up to her expectations. She also has a hard time with obtaining friends due to her behaviour. When in a bad mood, she has been called spoiled by several different people.

Underneath this, however, lies a caring girl who is simply trying to change and reinvent herself to avoid becoming something she hates. Though the process is taking time, she is slowly but surely making progress and beginning to develop into the person she wishes to be.

Should she feel others are in need of help, she will usually be the first to charge straight into the issue. At times, she is generous with things such as gil and clothing, sometimes forgetting that these days she doesn't have as much as she used to.

Although she most likely comes across as an inexperienced hot head upon first meeting, beneath this facade is a young woman who is trying to learn a new way of life and is struggling to let go of her old one.

Combat

General

Due to her wealthy upbringing, Alexis hasn't seen a real combat experience in her entire life. Using their wealthy position, her family had always hired loyal guards and mercenaries to handle any combat situations that required the family's attention.

Saying that, however, Alexis was able to befriend one of her family's loyal guards when she turned seventeen. She convinced him to teach her basic swordplay in the dead of night, far away from her family's manor. However, the experience only lasted a month before her mother became aware and the guard was later killed in what was described as a terrible accident.

Although Alexis is now able to wield a sword in some form, she currently isn't a useful ally to have on the field of battle due to her lack of real combat experience. Despite this, there are times where she has been known to protest and force others to take her with them on dangerous escapades - with often disastrous results!

Hobbies/Talents

Alexis' main hobby during her life in Ul'dah was to watch combatants at the coliseum fight each other. She has always enjoyed watching combat, especially swordplay, from a young age.

Her main talents lie in her education. Alexis is well educated and as such, she is able to read, speak and write fluently.

Other

Alexis is often known to become quite shy around any situation that requires a removal of clothes. Be it simply changing in front of another, stripping down to go swimming or anything else along the same lines. She loses her hot headedness and instead becomes rather quiet and almost awkward, a complete opposite of her usual outspoken self.

Relationships

Family

• Father:  Harvard Price (Deceased) - Alexis' father who she adored greatly. He passed away shortly after her eighth namesday. The majority of her facial features, including her eye and hair colour, come from her father's side. Alexis describes him as the greatest man she ever knew. A lover of all people, no matter their background. Losing him took a great toll on her and caused the strain between herself and her mother to become even worse.
  
• Mother: Isabelle Darlon (Alive) - Alexis' mother. The two have never seen eye to eye, and despite the similarity in their skin tone, many people agree that they look nothing alike. Isabelle Darlon was widely spoken about at one point shortly after Harvard Price's death, due to the fact that she remarried within a single month. Alexis describes her as a hateful woman who only looks out for herself.
  
• Step Father: Leonan Darlon (Alive) - Alexis' step father who she has hated ever since he moved into the family manor. Alexis has never approved of Leonan's marriage to her mother, especially with how sudden it was after her father's passing. Alexis describes the man as a scheming manipulator who will do anything to get what he wants.
  
• Nurse: Elna Caselle (Alive) - Alexis' carer. The woman has been in her life since Alexis was a child until she finally ran from her family's manor. Alexis cares deeply for the woman, despite the amount of times Elna was forced to reveal Alexis' antics to her mother. Despite not being related by blood, Alexis still views Elna as part of her immediate family.

Friends

• Anton: Anton was Alexis' first true friend. While she came from a wealthy family, this boy was the son of a rather poor baker. The two of them became close friends almost immediately and played together often throughout their childhood. After their friendship was discovered by Alexis' mother, Anton and his father have not been seen in Ul'dah since. (Anton is a minor NPC character in Alexis' history. Saying that, there is an option for him to return later in the story. If anyone is at all interested in playing him, please let me know!)
  
• Keilan: Keilan was the young guardsman that Alexis befriended shortly after she turned seventeen. She convinced Keilan to teach her how to wield and use a sword during the night, always training away from her family manor. After meeting every night for two weeks, the two began to develop feelings for each other. Each night he taught her again and again, until one night they finally ended up going the entire way with their romance. Shortly after their night of passion, Alexis' mother hinted that she was aware of her relationship with Keilan. During a trip to the coliseum, Alexis watched as Keilan faced another guard from their household in a spar. Towards the end of the fight, it is claimed that Keilan lost his balance and slipped at a disastrous moment, causing his opponent's sword to pierce his neck. The young man died within minutes, while Alexis screamed in horror from the stands. Onlookers say that despite her daughter's immense grief, Isabelle Darlon wore a smile during the whole event.

Enemies

• Isabelle Darlon: As of late, Alexis has come to realise that her mother is a rather sinister and corrupt woman. She strongly suspects Isabelle's involvement in Keilan's death and loathes her mother for agreeing with Leonan's idea of arranging a marriage between Alexis and a fellow noble family's son without her own input. Alexis has escaped her family manor to make a new life for herself, but the image of her mother and her betrayal always lingers in the back of her mind.
  
• Leonan Darlon: Like her mother, Alexis also suspects that Leonan himself is quite sinister and also corrupt. He has shown the similar tendencies of his mother in abusing the situation of poverty to keep themselves elevated highly above others. She also loathes the man for suggesting the arrangement of a marriage between Alexis and a noble family's son without her own input. Alexis isn't entirely sure if Leonan is as big an enemy as she thinks he might be, but she is still incredibly wary of the man.

Common Rumors

These rumours are pretty easy to overhear. They'd likely be heard around Ul'dah, especially in taverns!

• "The blonde one? Oh, I know the one. Yeah, y'see her out with her mother a lot. Mother's always smilin' but the girl always looks so tense. Looks as though she can't stand bein' paraded around like that, if y'ask me." 
  
• "Did you hear? Her mother remarried after her father's death within a month. A single month! That's far too soon, if you ask me. No wonder the two are always arguing."
  
• "Oh! I've seen her once. The coliseum. The poor girl was in pieces. She knew one of the fighters or some such, I believe. You remember? It was in the Tonberry's Lantern at one point. The poor boy slipped as his opponent lunged. A terrible accident, died within seconds I hear. The poor girl must have been quite attached. She screamed and bawled. I remember watching as her guards escorted her out. It was a sight to see."

Moderate Rumors

These rumours are a bit more difficult to overhear. If one was to eavesdrop on a gossiping wealthy member of Ul'dahn society, they might overhear some of these!

• "I've heard that she disagrees with the way her mother runs things. She wants those people to have an equal chance. What a naive little thing! She doesn't understand. If we gave everyone what we have, then we'd have nothing. Let's see if she can live life like that, hm?"
  
• "I remember her attending a banquet in her younger days with just her father. She was so happy back then. All you ever hear about her these days is that she's so rebellious against her mother. Whatever happened to the sweet child I remember?"
  
• "Well, don't share this but I heard that she had a relationship with that young guard who died in the coliseum. It makes sense. Why else would she react so strongly when it happened? I've not seen her grieve so much since her father passed. Her mother must be so ashamed."

Rare Rumors

These rumours are very difficult to overhear. They would likely only be overheard from those who work at Alexis' family manor, or very close friends.

• "I overheard the Mistress talking. It looks like Alexis will be marrying the boy after all. What a joyous occasion! The two houses will merge, it's going to be great for business. Maybe there'll be a pay raise? Oh, of course Alexis won't be happy. But it's not as if it's up to her, anyway!"
  
• "Have you noticed how tense the Mistress is the past few days? Don't say anything, but I heard Alexis is missing. There's less guards around too, if you haven't noticed. I bet she's bolted because of this wedding! There's never a dull moment working for this family, let me tell you."

History/Timeline

1555

• Harvard Price takes control of the family business after his mother passes away.
• Isabelle and Harvard meet and become very attached almost immediately.

1557

• Isabelle pushes Harvard into proposing and the two marry later within the cycle. 1558
• Alexis Price is born on the 8th Sun of the 6th Umbral Moon to Harvard and Isabelle Price.

1559~1564

• Alexis has a wealthy upbringing at her family manor within the city state of Ul'dah. Harvard's business continues to boom and improve.
• Elna Caselle begins working at the family manor and is assigned as Alexis' Nurse.
• Isabelle Price forces herself to become more involved in Harvard's business. She pushes for them to become co-owners, but her husband refuses.
• Leonan Darlon, a friend of the family, begins visiting the manor on a regular basis while Harvard is out on business.

1565

• Harvard Price falls ill during the 5th Umbral Moon. Alexis stays by her father's side for the majority of his illness.
• Isabelle Price begins running Harvard's business on his behalf after he falls ill.
• Alexis is given a silver necklace as a gift from her father during his illness on her eighth namesday. It is carved into the shape of a flying bird.
• Harvard Price passes away during the 6th Umbral Moon, shortly after his daughter's eighth namesday. Alexis locks herself away to grieve while Isabelle Price continues running the business.

1567

• Isabelle Price remarries during the 1st Astral Moon, one month after her husband's death. She marries Leonan Darlon, friend of the family. Both Alexis and Elna disapprove of the marriage, though Elna says no word.
• Alexis' relationship with her mother becomes severely strained due to her disapproval of Leonan.
• Alexis meets Anton early in the cycle. The two become good friends upon meeting and play together almost every day.
• Shortly before Alexis' tenth namesday, Anton and his father disappear from Ul'dah.

“Alexis! Look at the state of you. You’ve been out playing with that ruffian again, haven’t you!?”

The old woman was shaking in rage as she spoke. Before her stood a little girl, a large smile across her dirty face.

“Calm down, Elna. Anton’s not a ruffian! He’s that baker’s son. Y’know the one?”

Elna snarled, her dark eyes narrowing as they met the little girl’s big, round green ones.

“Y’know? Listen to yourself, child! You even sound like the blasted boy. Gods help me when your mother hears of this.”

Alexis shuffled uncomfortably. She raised a mud stained hand up to her bright blonde hair and scratched her scalp, her smile fading to a frown. The child looked uneasy, almost scared at the mention of her mother being told. Even through her dark toned skin, Elna could see the young girl’s cheeks flush with worry.

“P-Please don’t tell her, Elna! Please! Mother will-” she stopped, cut off by a soft and high pitched voice.

“I will what, dear?”

Alexis froze with fear as Elna looked to the doorway. Standing tall in a long golden robe was this ‘dreaded’ mother. Her skin was dark, just like her daughter’s, but her eyes and hair were almost the opposite of Alexis’. Side by side, the only resemblance between the two was their skin tone. Where Alexis had shining blonde hair, her mother had hair that was black as night. While Alexis had green eyes that seemed to glimmer even in darkness, her mother had a pair of dark brown, almost indistinguishable from her black pupils.

The question was met with silence as both Elna and Alexis looked at each other. Tears had formed in the young girl’s eyes which had caused her carer to lose her voice.

“By the gods, look at the state of her Elna. What has happened here?”

Alexis shook her head slowly, the tears falling down her cheeks. Elna cleared her throat, feeling tears forming in her own eyes. She hated betraying the little girl like this, yet she had no choice. She needed the gil from this job, and going against Alexis’ mother was not acceptable.

“She’s been playing with the baker’s son, Madam. Anton, I believe he’s called.”

For what seemed like an eternity, the room was silent. Alexis’ mother then nodded, offering a quiet “Mhm” before exiting the room. Elna turned to face the young girl, preparing for her retaliation.

“How could you, Elna!? How could you!? Now I’ll never get to see him again! I hate you! I HATE YOU!” the child screamed, turning and running from the room. As she ran down the hall, she sobbed uncontrollably, knowing that once again her mother would have taken another friend from her.

Back in the room, Elna stared at the empty doorway in silence. After several minutes, she sighed and regained her composure before leaving. She had more work to do, after all.

1568~1573

• Alexis continues living at the family manor with her mother and step father. Though she often sees girls from other wealthy families to socialise, she considers herself having no true friends at this point.
• Elna continues to care for the girl as she begins her change into a grown woman.
• Alexis is well educated in reading, writing and speaking. She is raised as a noble woman.
• Isabelle and Leonan Darlon continue running Harvard's business. The business continues to grow, though becomes well known for corrupt dealings.

1574

• Shortly after her seventeenth namesday, Alexis befriends one of her household guards known as Keilan. After some convincing, he agrees to train her in basic swordplay during the evenings away from the family manor. The two develop romantic feelings for reach other and finally spend an evening in bed together.

1575

• After one month of seeing Keilan, Alexis' mother hints that she's aware of the girl's relationship with him.
• Shortly after her mother hinting that she knows of Alexis and Keilan's relationship, Keilan is involved in a horrific accident within the coliseum that takes his life. Alexis is struck with grief and again locks herself away. 

1576

• On Alexis' nineteenth namesday, Leonan announces his idea of arranging a marriage for her to a boy from another wealthy family. Isabelle Darlon agrees with the notion. Alexis isn't asked about the matter and is expected to go along with the decision made for her.
• Alexis approaches Elna Caselle and begs her for help in escaping the city and her family.
• After many moons of careful thought, Elna begins setting plans into motion to help Alexis escape Ul'dah and her family.

1577 (2.0 Begins!)

• With Elna's help, Alexis manages to fill in and send a letter of admission to the Vylbrand Academy in Limsa Lominsa.
• Alexis finally manages to escape Ul'dah with her Nurse's help. The pair share a tearful goodbye outside the city gates and Alexis thanks Elna for everything she has done.
• Alexis sets out on her journey, determined to change herself as a person and avoid becoming the very thing she now hates.
