Solitary, business-focused, and stoic, Annaliese is easily labeled aloof or simply introverted. A tendency to over-analyze often trumps her thoughts, but for the most part, she is reserved and polite. Where she fails in verbal expression, her expression and thick, arched brows compensate.

Hobbies and Talents: Reading, sparring, fishing, traveling, hand-to-hand combat, poisons, venoms. She enjoys fine drink and good food, though her culinary ventures are often of necessity rather than luxury. Younger days of caving and raiding cultivated an interest and skill in gem-cutting, and she possesses well-honed survival and alchemical skills. She has quite the musical ear but lacks instrumental skill to accompany it and outright refuses to sing. (At least around others) So it's largely kept to herself. Nimble, strong, good with her hands, a skilled pugilist and one-time pickpocket, street-smart and business- minded.

Personal Strengths: Meticulous, loyal, driven, observant, athletic, business-savvy.

Cynical, aloof, prideful, sarcastic, stubborn, vengeful. Light and sound sensitive. A tendency to cut through the thick of things (combined with social awkwardness) is sometimes achieved with overt bluntness. Often silent, tends toward dry humor and close-mouthed smiles, a little prickly. A knife is always somewhere on her person. Smokes cigarettes (aggressively) when nervous. Exceedingly slow to anger, much like a long-burning fuse, but has an explosive temper.

Her capacity for charm increases if her guard is discarded and she remembers how to, well, interact with people. Such stoicism and rigid self-discipline slips in the presence of good company, good drinks, a good meal, or the flash of gil. Losses suffered from the Calamity have taken their toll on her well-being, though, and its effects are, to her disappointment, often apparent. Even now, things as seemingly simple as interacting with above grounders escape her grasp. Despite impressions, she is a woman of intense, quiet feeling. Slow to trust but recklessly loyal, there is a softness beneath the chip on her shoulder and more than occasional awkwardness.

Rain. Having a constant sound to anchor her hearing on, to center herself, calms her considerably, especially following a raucous day in Limsa Lominsa. She is similarly fond of the ocean, streams, and running bathwater.

Racism. Shee has endured no small amount mistreatment and discrimination for her heritage. It tends to make her a bit gunshy around Wildwoods in particular, and fear of appearing weak makes her seem standoffish instead.

APPEARANCE

Very tall and lanky at 6 fulms 4 ilms, Annaliese is tautly muscled and athletically built, with broad shoulders, modest bust, and a streamlined body. Her dark skin is riddled with scars obscured by layers of clothing and armor, and tiny cuts criss-cross her palms, callused fingers, and forearms. She has a long face, square jaw, and a prominent, aquiline nose with tell-tale signs of being broken at least once. Arched, expressive brows frame deep set, intense silver eyes and a face prone to withering stares and sly smiles, though her natural expression tends toward heavy-lidded and often squinting in sunlight.

Thick and wavy, especially curly when soaked, black hair falls to the middle quadrant of her back. Most of it is managed into tight, neat braids with metal clasps at their ends. Numerous silver piercings riddle her large, bat-like ears, all the way along her cartilage.

Soft spoken. She is articulate and careful, tending to pause in search of a word.

Distinguishing Features: Most noticeably an aquiline nose and chiseled cheekbones. An old scar on her forehead that’s several shades lighter than her skin. A scar at the edge of her right eyebrow. A vertical scar runs from the corner of her upper lip to nearly the cleft in her chin. Callused hands and fingers with tiny cuts on her palms, fingers, and forearms. Large, bat-like ears, pale eyes.

Jerkins, knitted shirts, plated gloves, sarouels, high boots, layered clothing. Anything that covers her as fully as possible, really. Her wardrobe is comprised almost entirely of dark, muted colors, earth tones, and shades of blue.

Inventory: While traveling, she prides herself on packing light: Linen, dried food, salted meats, poultices, and a collection of potions. Otherwise, a gil satchel, knife, and several vials line her belt.


COMBAT
Anna is primarily a deadly practitioner of hand-to-hand combat, most comfortable with a pair of fist weapons or knives. She is, however, equally proficient in only using her body as a weapon. With a style that is more speed and grace than power, her strength is wielded with brutal efficiency when necessary.
NOTE: Not all of Anna's in-game classes reflect her ICly. Despite having Black Mage nearly to level 50, anything magic-related is entirely OOC. I view her as a cross between Monk and Rogue, with few true Ninja qualities but breakneck agility. Any Monk abilities, such as opening her chakra and personal aether manipulation, are personal.

CLAWS

Most commonly used against armed or armored opponents. They are used to disarm and deflect blows as well as wound and kill

FISTS

Used in hand-to-hand combat or most situations. It allows her to more easily utilize her fists and grapple when necessary.

BLADES

Proficient with most types of blades, from swords to daggers and heavier arms. Anna favors a pair of daggers about as long as her forearm.

STRENGTH

A lifetime of hard labor, toil, and exercise has toned and trained her body.

AGILITY

Flexible and acrobatic. Her quick reflexes serve her well, but if she stops moving, dodging, or weaving, she’s liable to lose several teeth or end up on the business end of a sword.


HISTORY
Brief: Annaliese Sellecerre (27th Sun 6th Umbral Moon) is a Duskwight Elezen who hails from the underground in the mountains of Coerthas. Born into a long-fallen house of nobles, she spent her childhood and adolescence toiling alongside her family doing backbreaking mining and excavating work. In later years, following a recognition and interest in precious gems, the realization of their value led to pocketing some of the raw material, refining it, and selling it to merchants.

This did not, however, go unnoticed, and was eventually punished. Most of her family (and much of her city) was lost in the Calamity from a resulting cave-in and rock slide, though her sister remains alive. Her whereabouts were and remain to be unknown, however, and the difficult years that followed led to Anna wandering toward Ul'dah as a refugee, scraping out a living as a pickpocket and raider until her eventual disentanglement.

Present-day, she has since (seemingly, at least) reformed and taken to honest work as a bodyguard, goldsmith, and general contractor of martial jobs.

What began as an intriguing yet bewildering mix of attraction and animosity grew into something else entirely. Of late their relationship has become decidedly less ambiguous.

Anna's relationship with Renee is odd. She met him as Renaud upon joining the Coral Sea, and has since considered Renee a pleasant, if occasionally bewildering, companion.
