History

Childhood

Her mother died in childbirth. When her father saw his daughter's golden blonde hair (so like his wife's) he named her 'Guldthota' - 'Golden Daughter'. He regarded her as his greatest treasure, worth far more than the coinage she shared her name with. Her father did the best he could to raise her and for the most part they were comfortable. Her father made good money as an accomplished woodworker, fixing ships and making furniture. He taught to wield an axe at a young age. It became apparent she had the potential to use the axe in battle rather than simple as a woodworker and so he encouraged her to do just that. They lived by the ocean so the smell of the sea was never far away. She always longed to travel but her loyalty to her father kept her at home and she found comfort in her work.

A Pirate's Life

When she was eighteen her father used his business connections to get her a job aboard a ship, realising this was the push she needed to leave home. It wasn't until after the departure that she realised it was a pirate ship. This raised a lot of questions about her family's business connections and she made a note of it to ask her father about it when she returned. Though it was simple grunt work and she was initially mocked for her short height and lack of experience, her crewmates soon warmed to her, after each successful task completed without complaint and a quiet determination. Though she soon realised she was far from the best with an axe, the crew of the The Ocean’s Cry helped develop her raw talent into refined technique.

It wasn’t until a conflict with a rival ship that she earned their respect, however. Seeing her crewmates fall she resolved to turn the tide of the battle, unleashing her rage against the unsuspecting enemies. It was after this time she pledged her allegiance to the goddess Halone, for it was surely her fury she felt within her that day. When asked about her life aboard the The Ocean’s Cry she would recall the time with fond memories. The smell of the sea, the wind in her hair and her commrades by her side.

Her father passed away shortly after she embarked on her first voyage. It was only upon returning home she realised he had been ill for a long time and didn't want to burden her with his care. She made her peace with him and left. She still thinks about returning back home, going back to the simple life but it wasn't a path her father wanted for her and she does her best to honour his wishes. After this the captain of The Ocean's Cry, Gerald Morganach helped her perform the traditional Roegadyn burial at sea for her father and went on to inform her about her own mother's notorious pirate heritage. Rather than be ashamed of this, he explained that she should take pride in her family's history but to be careful not to be constrained by it. Everyone has their own destiny, afer all, their own choices to make. After this, she began to look upon him as a second father.

Present Day

She was at sea for the time of the war and the invasion, thus avoiding most of the drama that followed. She is currently earning her living as a mercenary and trying to find her land legs.

Character

Summary

Personality

About: She never had many friends, as she lived in relative isolation for many years, so she may come off as aggressive and straightforward when you first meet her. She is actually fearlessly loyal to her friends, but it can take a long time before that title is earned. Normally quiet and observant but isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She enjoys relaxing by the sea, which always reminds her of home, with a cold pint in her hand. She isn't afraid to crack some skulls (and some part of her definately enjoys it) if needed. Not afraid to stand up for herself and is usually the one telling people what they don't want to hear, if she thinks it'll be good for them.

Demeanor: She always holds her head high. Despite appearing quite mature, she is actually quite immature once you get to know her (or once she's got some drink in her). As stubborn as a bad tempered Chocobo, that's what her dad used to say.

Quirks: When she is very, very angry her right eye can start to twitch. She also sighs heavily a lot when annoyed.

Intelligence: People wouldn't think it to look at her, but she has read many classics and enjoys studying, she usually always has a worn paperback tucked away about her person.

Tendencies

Likes: Nature. Sweets. Oceans. Alcohol.

Dislikes: Spiders. Obnoxious People. Hot Climates.

Skills

Stengths: Aside from her skill with a great axe, she enjoys swimming, cooking and tending to plants.

Weaknesses: Fine alcoholic beverages and stuffin' her gob with sweets both of which usually lead to gambling (and regret).
