APPEARANCE / PERSONALITY

Despite being rather tall among other Xaela women, Haila still is considered to be rather petite when standing beside most races. Both her hyuran and aura counterparts share the same features. Black long hair almost reaching her waist, and mismatched eyes. Her left one is a bright red, while the other seems to be deep blue. If one looks closer, it is clear both of them seem to have a strange inner white ring on her irises. During her days as a hyuran, she seemed to posses two white tattoos underneath each eye. However, upon her change, such marks are gone. Both of her hands show 2nd degree burns over her palms and fingers. The scars reach up almost to her forearm on her left arm.

She tends to treat most people with kindness, though always keeping a certain distance given a troubled and misguided past. To close friends, she is a stubborn little shite, who won't budge on something, specially when it comes to other's well being. And to strangers, she'll just be a mysterious one that goes along with most comments or flirts directed at her. Keeping a neutral standing and polite manners unless the topic at hand is rather sensitive to her.

L I K E S

Lone Walks If there is something that Haila craves the most, is to connect with people who will remain by her side. Still, she is still someone who enjoys solitude quite a lot. Making the Xaela a handful for her husband as she is always wandering off on her own out of the mere wish to walk around.
Alcohol Being such a small woman when compared to others would make one think that she seldom drinks. But it's quite the contrary, Haila handles her alcohol... perhaps too well...
Idle Chatter While something that can be considered not too exciting, once someone has been stuck in the abnormal and stories of their own. Just a small talk regarding daily life is but one of the few pleasures in the realm.

D I S L I K E S

Radical Traditionalists To one their own thing, still this does tend to keep Haila on her toes when she does small attempts at meeting people that catch her curiosity. And more than once, was she treated badly by Xaela who wish to keep their tribal traditions intact.
Betrayal The stories are many and the names being added to the list everyday. The damage that has been done can't be repaired, and thus she can never love people the same way anymore.
Drunkards It is fine to enjoy drinks perhaps a little too much every now and then. But people that reek of nothing but alcohol everyday and know only to send comments about what's underneath people's clothings are a no.
Chigoe Larvas The last fire inside the room she rented at the Hourglass is self explanatory.

Q U I R K S

Book Devourer While her field is quite a vast one focused on magics. She does take joy in reading pretty much everything that falls on her hands. Specially children's books.
Cultured Insults While not a trait that is often noticeable, she has a knack for insulting people with a 'unique' selection of words that more often than not, don't even let the person know that she said something bad towards them.
Angry smol Go on, make her mad and she'll kick your ass, she'll kick Bahamut's ass, she'll kick her own ass.
Overprotective Mom If you're a cinnamon roll, she'll more than likely be that one mom with binoculars watching over her kids and kicking anyone who bothers them.

Sixth Astral Era (1554-1572)

Born to Wackwrulf Malurie and Hilde Malurie, some of the first refugees fleeing from Ala Mihgo before it fell, Haila was an only daughter to the pair living in extreme poverty in the outskirts of Limsa Lominsa. At the age of three, her sister, Hyola Malurie was abandoned at their doorstep due to being born from a bar wench that her father refused to assist. Despite this, Haila was quite protective of her half sister, and took it upon herself to raise the youngling.

Her mother, Hilde, was barely someone to be acknowledged, often following Wackwrulf without a single comment or word and working inside their small house. The father on the other hand, took to drinking Lominsan rums and ales too often to the point that he was just a violent figure with a nasty reputation among the Yellow Jackets he worked alongside of. Having no one to care for her properly, Haila eventually started to turn to small thieveries alongside a now four cycles old Hyola and five cycles old Luma, the son of an old friend from her father.

The small merry band, while quite lively everyday, soon dies out as Luma is taken away by his father on the very day of their biggest scheme. Haila sneaks into a military banquet taking place near the port, only to be discovered by authorities due to the lack of a companion to keep watch over her. This causes an outburst from her father, whom nearly threatens to kill his own daughter, only for an elderly man to intervene in the few days after the skirmish. Going by the name of Leofric Wetyios, someone whom saw Haila at the banquet, he takes her away from her family under the excuse that it is too dangerous for a child to be raised there. However, Hyola is never taken in by him due to the fact that she was too young and not as promising in quick learning as her older sister.

During the next few years, Haila is raised as one of the many maids to the Wetyios household. Often being asked to keep Leofric company as he teaches her how to read and play chess with him in order to asses the young girl's skills until she is officially adopted as his daughter at the age of 15. By the time she turns 18, she's already been forced into the Maelstrom to continue her adoptive father's legacy of Tactics. And watches from the backlines as Wackwrulf and many other soldiers perish during the fall of Dalamud. The damage done even on the outer areas of Carteneau was devastating, and Haila did not escape unscathed. She was missing for two days after the catastrophic event only to be discovered among a few survivors with partial crystallization due to prolongued exposure to corrupted aether, and a nearly fatal wound to the back of her head.

Seventh Umbral Era (0001-0005)

Despite being lucky enough to survive Dalamud herself, the injuries Haila sustains cause her to suffer from severe amnesia. Even going as far as rendering her as just a child that barely knew how to speak or even live. More surprising was the fact that despite the Wetyios family being one that was barely affected by the catastrophe, she was never sought out but rather left to her own account within the Maelstrom. For the next two years, she lived at Camp Bronze Lake, relearning how to function properly as a human being and for the scars that the crystallization left to slowly heal.

Once she turned 20 cycles old, Haila took the decision to leave the Camp. Being self aware enough to see that there would be little to no use in her taking up the space that could belong to other soldiers, she set off to settle down in Summerford Farms. Working as an errand girl around the area, her innate curiosity and naivette soon caught the eyes of most of the villagers. A few always watching over the lone lass for she had no family or friends to return to from the looks of it. The military having let her go given how she was deemed not fit to return to duty. Not long after that, the young hyur turned her eyes towards Arcanima however, due to her troubled past and clear signs of still not being fully recovered, she was quickly turned away by the Master of the guild and just given an old grimoire to have her move on. This though, was not enough to make Haila calm down, and a few moons later, she put up what gil was left of her payment from being a tactitian and set off to explore the realm on her own while learning of Arcanima on her own.

Departing from La Noscea and doing pretty much any errand or small work needed on the settlements she visits. She soon finds herself in Mor Dhona, near the place where she was first found after the happenings of Dalamud. Working and learning more from the Sons of Saint Coinach for a brief time until her aether sickness forces her to go to Uldah. The parting gift from the recognition of her magical prowess being a small green stone.

Seventh Astral Era (0001-0002)

Coin did eventually give in, and soon Haila found herself living in the Ul'dah refugee camps. Not in the worst of conditions, but still enough to go by just doing small errands just like in the past. Life was not too harsh on her, though a long limbo of her life started. The damage to her head was still easy to notice given her moments of blankness when asked about specific memories of previous suns. And to top things off, she had never fully recovered from the aether sickness she seemed to be growing more sensible towards everyday. Now 23 years old, she was just a woman living by and doing anything to move on. Often being taken advantage of in the worst ways possible. Though her momentums of amnesia being to her advantage to not break her weak mentality at that time.

Old connections with Limsa were being built back, while new in Ul'dah with those that shared a similar trade were slowly forged or forgotten for she seldom saw a friendly face more than once. It was during this period, that she started to delve deeper into aetherical studies on her own, slowly picking and collecting any book that she could get her hands into, and even visiting the Ossuary often for research. And while her knowledge did indeed expand despite her constant spur of forgetfullness, her more 'normal' life soon took a turn for the worst.

Having taken notice one day of a co-worker nearly getting into a bar fight with a hallucinating man, Haila followed the poor person alongside others until the unimaginable happened. The elezen took his own life before them, and rumors made it clear that a strange drug had been the cause for his strange wordings and visions. She did what she thought was best as a researcher, and promptly took a blood sample before the man's body was taken away by Brass Blades. That turned out to be the worst decision in her entire life. Unable to analyze the sample herself, and fearing of anyone getting their hands on the sample to recreate the drug that destroyed the man's life, she was forced into a life of constant hiding and the adoption of several names.

Even going as far as to take on mercenary jobs outside of Ul'dah in order to procure better coin for her schemes, Haila was forced to reassume the same formal manners and personality that she used to have when working for the Maelstrom. Always watchful, nervous and wary of telling other people her name, it was not a surprise that she ended up turning to more complex ways of hiding. Even going as far as to alter her appearances through glamours for short periods of time through the day.

A close friend, Ruah'a Bhowsu. Whom met her during her more honest times in the city, eventually found her out, and while she scantly gave him the details, the Keeper agreed to try and help her by taking her to the company he worked for, Nebulous. After striking a deal with the leader, Navei Asue, she was given refuge and a place to hide at, in exchange of working for the company and representing them among the Immortal Flames.

The jobs and adventures with the company were many, but Haila was able to live a life with a degree of normality in it. She started to delve more into her own research about allagan technology and aether. While also starting to do more 'undercover' jobs for the Flames in hopes of cleaning her name regarding the rumors about her possessing a drug sample. She had a knack for listening in to things normal officers wouldn't be able to, and was rather good at hiding by then after all.

Such line of work though, brought to her one of the greatest changes in her life. Not more than a moon after Navei's disappearance from the company and a search taking the company to a forgotten island to the west of La Noscea, the hyuran caught wind of a strange operation regarding slave trades in the small place. The first refugee boats arriving from Doma were already being spotted in Thanalan's coasts. This of course made the demand for Auri slaves rather great, and had Haila look deeper into it. While she returned from the intel job safe and sound alongside the Nebulous crew, few suns later it was discovered that she had also fallen victim to the dealings of the small island. The people there had developed a concoction that would force other races to change and look like real Au Ra in order to satisfy the demand, and it seemed she had also been given a dose of the strange mix without knowing. The change was hellish, and the medical bay within the Immortal Flames kept her there for about seven to ten suns until everything was all over. By the time she was able to return to her company, Haila looked exactly like a Xaelan woman despite retaining most of her old physical traits.

The missions and jobs that came after that started to become more perilous, losing friends was perhaps the hardest thing on her at that moment. And much worse, word finally got out of her whereabouts to the wrong kind of people. In a timely ambush while she was outside of the company, the fake Xaela was injured nearly fatally on the back of her head once more, causing her to go into a coma for a moon. Thanks to her childhood friend, Luma and Navei's efforts to solve part of the research she had left behind, Haila eventually was able to wake up though as a changed person. It didn't help that the then medical bay healer from Nebulous had been rather eager to put her out of her misery when she seldom showed any signs of progress. And thus, her decision was respected to step out of the company in a journey of self discovery. Few suns later, her name was officially cleaned out from any traces about the drug sample rumors, and reports were forged to imply that she had turned in the vial to the Immortal Flames instead of Nebulous vaults forever.

By the end of year 0002, she had found herself in Everen Academy, a small place dedicated to the studies of magic that seemed promising enough for her to delve more into her already advanced research about arcanima and allagans.

Seventh Astral Era (0003-0004)

While a different life was enjoyable, Haila did not go through this phase of her life without obstacles and many betrayals of her trust. With Everen's disbandment just three moons after her joining, she soon found herself on a limbo of her own persona, unsure of where to go from then on until returning to Nebulous once more upon hearing of Navei's return and the reformation of the company. The new building for the few FC was bigger than the old one if not more peaceful. And while jobs were less frequent or mostly related to airship projects, Haila enjoyed what she could while raising a few critters along the way.

Tragedy though, soon found it's way to their doorstep. Ruah'a, whom had also returned alongside her after a small heartfelt confession, requested for help in the search for his sister, whom he had not seen ever since Haila's early days in Ul'dah. Having small traces of the younger Keeper, she was reluctant at first to comply with it, specially because Rhae's whereabouts were possibly tied to the slave trading group that Haila had previously investigated. After several talks and planning, it was deemed that she was the best to play the role of bait and look around for the missing sister. The plan failed miserably.

It was unknown whether they had been found out from the very beginning, or if Haila's fame soon had caught the attention of the traders. But in the skirmish that followed, there was one casualty among the Nebulous group, Ruah'a. While he had survived the attack at first, he perishes few suns after due to the gravity of the injuries he suffered for trying to protect Haila. Devastated, and mentally unstable, she denied his death and drowned herself in work around the Dravanian Hinterlands, where it was rumored that a primal had been sighted.

For moons, she tiredlessly worked to monitor the aetherical levels around the area, while cattering to old habits and assuming a different identity to join the recon teams paralell to her research. After many missions and mishaps of her own in trying to fully hide from everyone, Alexius Edmont, her old friend whom had ended up in the same area for the same reasons as her, eventually took Haila in upon her official resignation from Nebulous.

Under the guise of a bartender, Haila worked for him while doing research on her own and providing any old information she had gathered from the darkest of lanes in her younger days. Playing the role of a humble person under Thaliak's Embrace, Haila soon grew a small discomfort with the other side of the company, Thaliak's Eye upon the complete dismissal of her work despite it being vital to Alexius's own research. Her mental state almost hit rock bottom as well. A second attempt at wringling any information regarding the drug sample she was supposed to have taking place during one of her visits to Ul'dah upon moving to the Shroud.

Khona'to Garanjy, someone whom she had believed that she could trust alongside his companions was the first to give the order for her torture. Once she was on the verge of killing herself, asking for them to do it themselves upon having fake information forced out of her, she was tossed like useless trash on the forest. It fell to her old friend Luma to pick up the pieces of a mentally broken Haila. Even ceasing her work for Thaliak's Embrace as she was shelted by them, another breach on her trust took place upon seeing the very man who nearly destroyed her waltzing inside the building as if nothing had happened.

Heart broken from Alexius's decisions, Haila drew the last straw, leaving Thaliak's Eye alongside Sataka, a partner she had met during her time of recovery and Luma, whom now was learning from her about the operation of the devices she worked on in case they were ever needed. Slowly attempting to rebuild her life alongside the Raen and her childhood friend whom visited often to help them. Haila slowly but surely regained the strong temper she had developed through moons of unforeseen events.

Her physical condition though, barely improving upon the disappearance of Sataka not but a moon after their engagement. After so many breaches in her trust and being left behind over and over again, Haila was no longer able to look at people the same way. Now 26 cycles old and with Alexander Ambrosiu's help, a cartographer whom she met in the Hinterlands, she was able to afford a place of her own in La Noscea and retired back to her homeland. Taking on the job of a veteran tactician that oversaw the trainee squadrons in the Maelstrom.

Seventh Astral Era (0004) (Pre-Stormblood)

Despite her constant stubborness and distance at first, Luma, whom had adamantly remained at her side upon seeing her at her worst times, soon became the closest person to Haila. Even going as far as the two being often seen spending different days on each other's houses in the Shroud and La Noscea. The Xaela kept a low profile for quite a long time, keeping to her job of watching the newbies with relative peace until her early retirement by the beginning of year 0004.

Not long after that, word spread out regarding the possible operation near Baelsar's Wall. Haila's trainees were all deployed to keep watch near the place while Luma's own family feuds took place at the same time. Haila assumed a more passive role, staying on the sidelines and watching over everything that was unfolding. Though still that not being enough as stress and panic soon forced the woman to give early birth to her first child, hers and Sataka's to be exact.

Acknowledging that she was no longer able to participate on any front lines regarding battles or close sightings of primals, she took on the role of a mother instead. Passing on her work to Alexius so that he could continue from where she had left off, and spent the next moons recovering and enjoying life with her newfound family. Soon all the papers she had written through the years regarding advancements in technology and aetherical manipulation became rather famous upon the successful operation on herself to remove a fragment of Dalamud that had remained stuck in her head and causing most of the cognitive disfunctions she suffered. Paralell to that, official records registered a certain marriage to Luma Lee, whom was officially the father of a Raen halfling.

Romantic Interest  Platonic Love  Positive  Neutral  Negative  🔒 Hidden
Alexius Edmont "Two sides of the same coin."

Alexius met Haila during her early days at the Maelstrom. The sharlayan mage always clashing against her in their younger times until she proved her own worth. Much to her dismay, both ended up pursuing the same line of work, and thus, strange feelings started to bloom. They are both different to a fault, yet at the same time similar in the decisions they end up making despite choosing their own methods to reach it. It is a love that couldn't be due to both choosing a partner before realizing what they felt. Yet both still work together every now and then, and will often visit the other out of worry for their well being and happiness with their lives.

Luma Lee "The selfless popoto."

Her old childhood friend. Luma was someone she never recognized even when working together under the same company. Still, both developed a friendship that remained through their worst times. Haila didn't see him often, but he would often show up to pick up the broken pieces of herself each time the worst happened despite her escape upon hearing a hasty confession of feelings from him. She scantly understands why Luma is such a selfless man, but couldn't ask for a better husband to love her despite her flaws and her child as well as if it was of his own blood.

Alexander Ambrosius "The daft sod."

Alexander was the only one to figure out Haila's identities when she worked both for the research expedition around the Hinterlands and the recon team being sent into the mechanical primal in Thaliak's River. He agreed or was rather threatened to keep silent about it given the high risks of being found out by the wrong folk. Nevertheless, Alexander became a good friend to Haila as time passed. Even going as far as allowing her to use his house in Ul'dah as shelter to hide and also progress on her own research. The two have grown close enough to be almost as siblings, him being the person who managed to pick her up in the worst times she had ever faced in her life.

Navei Asue "The lost boss."

While their relationship was at first that of simply and employee and a boss. Haila came to respect the man both for allowing her to work for him despite her cryptic past, and for leading a company that had kept a certain degree of unity. He's always been someone she can hardly figure out, though not for the worst. And while she had held him on a high regard for a long time, things changed upon the death of her old partner Ruah'a, and the lack of word from him despite being another important employee under his wing. She respects the man, but even after having seen him more than once in the realm, she has yet to make any attempts to contact him once more.

Bahati Pashto "Unmendable difference."

One thing is to respect one's traditions and ways, and another is to impose them without other people's approval. Bahati's eagerness to put Haila out of her misery with poison during the coma she suffered from yet another head injury surely caused a lot of friction between the two that was never fixed even through talks. Haila fails to understand why the Keeper would do such a thing without consulting with other members of her company or wait approval despite being their main medic in the first place. Bahati is the reason she left Nebulous for the first time.

🔒 Ruah'a Bhowsu "Deserved better."

Haila's first true love. She met the Keeper on the streets of Ul'dah one day, and since then kept a close friendship with him through the cycles. She watched him grow into a more knowledgeable lad with time despite their small hiccups in their relationship every now and then. Until her love was finally confessed.... Perhaps too late. The pair scantly had a chance to enjoy their lives as a couple and settle down before Ruah'a sacrificed himself in order to save Haila during an operation that was meant to be a search for his sister.

🔒 Sataka Tanshi "Abandoned again."

Most likely the one person Haila will refuse to mention till the end of times further than two facts. He is the father of her child, and she doesn't know where he is, or if he is alive for that matter. She met the amnesiac Raen near Ul'dah's most crowded tavern, and soon took it upon herself to help him as much as possible given that she understood the pain of not remembering one's past all too well. It is truly hard for her to see where things went wrong. For the two had eventually grown close to having engaged and settled down on Alexander's apartment briefly until they afforded a place of their own. Only for the man to suddenly leave for honest work one morning and never come back.

Rha'li Kalahast "Extremely charming."

They met during the times Haila was still meddling with her identities in order to do her job however, she still took the risks and kept talking to him. Being just a humble appraiser who sometimes loves to brag about his charms. Rha'li has become perhaps one of Haila's best friends. Always meeting up to talk about daily life and their decisions, and even keeping up a small game both developed to get to know the other through questions. She truly enjoys each talk she has with him, though sincerely worries for the lad given his way of life never changing, being static to a degree.

Khunbish Adarkim "The shaman."

Being only a meeting by chance given her aberration to speaking of herself to other Xaelas, Haila is rather fond of the former Avagnar. Even going as far as to having him be the one whom assisted with the birth of her child, and visiting quite often to see how his life is going. Despite often having the most tragic of troubles or strangest of things thrown onto her lap each time they speak, she still cares for the man quite a lot.

Rathen Iriq "Distant memories."

He was the first Xaela that she confessed to not being a true one herself. Still, he always protected her regardless, even going as far as teaching her part of the language and ways of his tribe so that she wouldn't be found out too easily by others. The two were awfully close during the days they were in the same company, and she enjoyed teaching him how to read and write while he helped her polish her martial skills. Haila doesn't know where the man has gone off to, having parted ways and gone on his own path soon after the disbandment of Everen Academy. But she still prays for him to be safe.

A'mari Tia "What could have been."

Sharing similar fields of expertise, A'mari and Haila were often at odd ends when exchanging anything regarding their research. Even driving one to wish to beat up the other, this eventually turned into a strange attraction that was meant to be something almost as special as what could have been with Alexius. The Seeker was the first to promise her safety and never leave her side, and also the quickest to break such promise upon leaving her behind without a word for the sake of his own work. It is needless to say that she was not happy upon his return and attempts to be back together, and while she will not bash him for his attempts at continuing his research. She certainly doesn't have a high opinion of him upon having her work mocked before he left again.

Kulain Qalli "The chieftain."

Their relationship was almost clear from the moment they met. Haila's an outsider that scantly knows of the Xaela tribal ways. And Kulain is someone who holds tradition as dearly as how much she despises Eorzean ways. While the two did come to respect the other for a brief moment while talking, Haila's unableness to abide to tribal ways and throw away her life as an Eorzean for the sake of her child was not taken well.

Khona'to Garanjy "For your own good."

While Haila holds her rule of never hating someone enough to wish to kill them, Khona'to surely is close to having her break that line. He was someone who shared the same conditions as her, and while she thought a possible friendship could develop and further their knowledge of their sickness, he took her trust and nearly destroyed it alongside her sanity. He was the one who gave the order to torture her due to her lack of cooperation to speak of information he needed for a job. All under the excuse of it being for her own good. And even more, manipulated his own partner who assisted in the act, only to throw her away at the mercy of Haila's company that could have killed her without problem. She fails to understand the man and how he doesn't care for anyone but himself. And even less, the employee from Thaliak's Embrace that made it possible for him to visit the building without her knowing just out of silly feelings of love.

INVENTORY

These are the following items Haila carries with herself most of the time. The information listed below should not be used to meta-game, but do feel free to use it if comes up in RP.

Small pouch of gil - Hard to tell how much she actually carries, though it does seem to be enough to pay for a few drinks or pass between cities via airships.
Xaela Dagger- Often hidden underneath coats or hanging from her belt, the pattern suggests that it belonged to a warrior rather than her .
Basket of bread - It's part of the business after starting a small bakery, but more than likely, there will be a basket with fresh bread hanging from one of her arms.

RP LIMITS

I consider myself a flexible player who tends to go with the flow of the RP as long as it's plausible. For some events I prefer to use /random and let RNG take it away, but I also like to talk about it beforehand to ensure things stay reasonable. Thank you for your interest in me!

DO - From dark and mature themes to the light-hearted and easy-going themes are welcomed, whether they be short or long. Conflicts, friendships, rivalries, violence, and drama are strongly encouraged. Not actively looking for romance however, if small feelings start to bloom, by all means, bring them to me and let's enjoy this RP. I really enjoy romantic tension and romantic feelings as a source of conflict for a story."

DON'T - Character death is not allowed unless I feel the time is right. Absolutely nothing that prevents her from living her life independantly is allowed, nor is random ERP that isn't organic and a natural course of the RP. Please do not push this, I will ditch the RP if I feel this is being forced. The poor popoto has been through too much unsolicited shit that I prefer to discuss things openly before being slapped with them ICly.

ASK - While I am not opposed to any disfigurement (scars, missing limbs, etc) I do ask that we discuss it beforehand as they may have a drastic change or negative impact on my enjoyment of my character. TL;DR if you aren't sure, ask.

RP HOOKS

I'm always happy and excited to meet new people and to RP! There are times where I am slow getting back to you because I'm a useless derp but I will always do my very best to give you a response in a timely manner.
