She was found at sea, drifting aimlessly on a piece of debris from an unknown wreckage, more than likely caused by a pirate raid. It was at this time that a band of cut throats who went by the name of “The Gold Sands” retrieved her from The Sea of Jade. Guessing her age to be around five; her striking, unusual appearance for the time brought about talk of selling her for a large profit. The leader of the band of miscreants went by the name Anshelm Maximus. He was a tall, hard skinned Highlander with a presence so intimidating that even his troupes refused to cross words with him. Anshelm was a man to be feared and respected, however he did have one weakness: His young son, Vhallen. Vhallen was a bright highland child, roughly around the same age as the strange girl they had found. Due to this, he had almost immediately began to befriend her; often begging and pleading with his father to let her stay with them. He would protect her, keep her out of the way, and make sure she was able to carry her own weight. Anshelm wanted to hear none of this, it was a point of contention for almost 3 weeks as he tried to find a safe, untraceable way to be rid of the small Aura child while making a profit. It was upon one of these attempts that an informant betrayed Anshelm. Surrounded, the fight lasted for hours as both sides struggled to be victorious; fighting for who would claim superiority of the desert ambush areas they all had shared in the past. Finally, as the sun rose on the Ala Mhigo, only The Golden Sand stood victorious… but this victory had come at a heavy price. Many of his men had fallen in battle and just as many of the men were injured; among the injured was his son, Vhallen. Anshelm rushed to his son’s side, his wounds where grave and if left untreated he would only last a few hours. Worry and panic spread through his heart, where could a notorious man such as himself take his son? Was he to sit and watch his son join the list of those who had already departed? Without noticing, the young Aura had already come to join him, sitting beside him she smiled and placed her hands on Vhallen. A light shone brightly, so brightly that Anshelm had to close his eyes and turn away… but upon opening this eyes Vhallen’s wounds had closed. White magic. This young girl knew white magic. She had saved his son; she had shown kindness to those who were planning to sell her for profit. For day’s Anshelm toiled in though as the young girl tended to his son and the wounded. The deserts and battle fields where no place for a small child, let alone a female. He had already put his young son in danger multiple times, could he agree to handle the burden of another now? Vhallen had recovered as had many of The Golden Sands; their recovery had been swift due to the countless hours the girl had put into caring for them. Seeing this, Anshelm called his band together for an announcement. The young girl would stay with them; her empathy and abilities in the white arts would prove to be beneficial for the group as a whole. This announcement, however, did not come without its rules and stipulations. The girl would be kept separated from the men at almost all times, only joining the fray when they were in need of her abilities. The men around a young growing girl was a concern, but also he didn’t want his men to become lazy and dependent on her…. That…. And her unusual appearance would catch far too many eyes. Upon this announcement and rules Anshelm welcomed the child into The Golden Sands. His son Vhallen then decided what name would suit her best. Vhallen bestowed upon her the name, Illyriana, and with that she had a home, a family, even if it was a bit isolated. She was happy. Many years had passed; both Illyriana and Vhallen had grown up swiftly. Vhallen had already started to bulk up, his muscles now emphasizing his broad Highland frame. His face had grown increasingly handsome and his stance was bold and proud, but even though his outer appearance had hardened he still was a soft, kind man. He also had spent many years at Illyriana’s side and slowly but surely had begun to fall in love with her. Illyriana had grown as much as she was able, her frame was small and petite, barely even weighing 90 ponds. She was frail and quiet, her voice was as quiet and humble as her appearance was. She had developed a soft face, gentle features adorned by soft ginger hair that draped around her cheeks; she was a stunning beauty. She did not have much physical strength, years of isolation and very few occasions where she was allowed to join the rest of the troupes did have some minor affects to her growth. She, however, did not need to protect herself. Wherever she went, Vhallen was almost always by her side. Very few would dare to place their hands on her, any that did soon regret their decision. For many years the two walked together, her world was small but she was happy. Illyriana and Vhallen had grown increasingly close over their years together, both of them harboring strong feelings for one another, but neither had the resolve to say it out loud however. More than 11 years together had formed strong bonds of friendship, both where afraid that if the other did not feel the same they would risk losing all of many years together. Vhallen, however, had begun to worry. Every night the looming red star in the sky would grow; whispers of of war, primals, things Illyriana had never seen nor had any knowledge about. He worried what would happen if he had to leave her for war, if The Golden Sands grew increasingly unstable or she was taken out to even more dangerous battles…. The possibilities worried him into sleepless nights. The Golden Sands had also begun to grow increasingly volatile. Anshelm had grown more aggressive as the looming star grew closer; he would attack his troupes, and take missions that were out of the bands league, sending Illyriana out on increasingly more dangerous missions. She would be punished if she was unable to heal the high amount of injuries, often denied food and warmth in the cold desert nights. Vhallen knew things had to change; she was growing weaker and he could barely stand to see her suffer. On a bright moon lit night he took her out to sit on a clifftop and there he confessed his feelings, his fears, and his wants… and she returned his feelings. That night he presented her with a Jade green hair pendant and promised her that soon he would take her away from The Golden Sands, the cold deserts, the lonely nights. That night, under the bright moon and the lingering red star, he proposed to her. </font></div><br> |

Illyriana Maxima
The Gentle Light of Gridania
.
[edit]
Details
General Information Illyriana is a gentle, quiet spirit with a hidden love of exploration. Due to years of isolation through her childhood she is not good with large groups of people but pushes herself to try and socialize. She is very approachable but tends to stutter or fidget if she's caught off guard. She has an innate distaste for sand and desert climates and would rather spend her time nestled in the trees of Gridania or under to cool sea winds of Costa Del Sol. Young and free willed, gentle yet as solid as an oak (emotionally...), she strives to find her place in this world as she walks in the light of the crystal. Appearance
