Basic Info

Kind-hearted and polite, yet grumpy pure-blooded wildwood Elezen from Gridania. Jerciex is ex-Serpent medic who witnessed Battle of Carteneau and horrors of it. It has left marks to him. He spent few moons in in Ishgard serving one of the noble families, but family experienced some difficulties and fell apart. This meant Jerciex career as warden was over. He spent sometime in Dravanian forests until he decided to go back to home, Twelveswood. At Twelveswood he met old friend. This encounter might have turned new page in his life...

History/Timeline

Birth:
Jerciex was born in Gridania and he is native of Gridania. His parents are forest-born as well.
Childhood:
Childhood of Jerciex was like any other childrens in area. When he was 10 years old, he and his friends sneaked outside of Gridania and went explore Amberscale rock and during that expolore they were assaulted by rapotors in area, but they were saved by Serpent patrol. Since then he looked up Adders up and wanted to become one. Jerciex took lessons in local guilds and learned basics of spear and bow. His father taught him how to use sword.
Becoming Serpent:
Jerciex enlisted to Twin Adders when he was old enough. Superiors decided to put him into medical unit. First year in Adders' rank, he was studying anatomy and first aid.
First combat experience:
After year in Serpent's rank Jerciex was put in his first mission and party. Party's mission was to banish Ixalis near border of Coerthas and Gridania. During mission two members was injured and Jerciex got his first experience in field. With help of older medic, Jerciex was able to tend wounds. According to reports of mission, Jerciex managed to do his job well, even he hesitated first.
Battle of Carteneau:
Battle of Carteneau has biggest impact on Jerciex. He didn't serve in frontline during battle. He was tending wounded soldiers behind the lines. Even being behind the line, this battle left deep scars to his soul and he has nightmares from his experiences. He avoids to talk about battle. He lost many good friends and fellow Serpents there, also someone important to him went missing during battle.
Returning home from Carteneau:
After coming home from battle, Jerceix continued his career in Adders, although he fell into depression and alcoholism. It took two years to recover from those. He still drinks, but not so much.
Recovery from depression
After recovering depression Jerciex continued his work as Serpent. Making patrols in city and forest. Sometimes he is been sent into assignments with party.
Becoming a mentor for a lost soul
Jerciex was visiting Ul'dah for a personal business, he was supposed to meet someone in Quicksands, but he got lost in Ul'dah alleys. In the alleys he met young miqo'te, who came to him and offered to show him way. Jerciex accepted girl's help. On their way to Quicksands girl tried to pickpocket him, but Jerciex caught her in act and seized her. While Jerciex held girl still, she told what drove her to this. After hearing girl's, Tika's, story, Jerciex saw that there was still hope to get her back to "right path". Instead giving her to guards, he took Tika with him to Gridania and became her mentor. In Gridania, he rented a innroom for Tika and taught her basic skills like reading and writing on his free time. After spending time with Tika, Jerciex learned more about her talents and skills. He realized that her skill could be used in Gods' Quivers ranks, so he contacted Archers' guild and get her into guild. Now Jerciex and Tika are still in contact and Jerciex's work as mentor is still active. They meet regularly, so Jerciex can mentor her or help her with her troubles."
Sleepless and lonely nights
After six years, memories from Carteneau started to haunt him really badly again. For two months he suffered from insomnia, because he started to avoid sleeping. He didn't want experience horrors again, so he forced himself be awke with special stimulant, drug. His friends tried to help with his problem, but Jerciex was too stubborn to accept their help. Handful of good friends finally managed to make Jerciex talk and get better. Someone really close to Jerciex managed to soothe his restless and lonely heart and he was able to sleep again. Nightmares are still part of his life, but he isn't so afraid to sleep now.
Transfer to Free Company
There was some reorganizations in Order of Twin Adders to improve communication between Grand Company and Free Companies. As result Adders placed Serpents to Gridanian Free companies. Jerciex was one of them. He was deployed into Pathfinder Society as advisor and contact personel. Idea for deplyoments were to increase Gridania's readiness to possible catastrophes. Jerciex is still in ranks of Twin Adders and continues his work as Serpent, there is just little bit more work now.
†Losing a dear friend due illness†
Jerciex was visiting Limsa Lominsa when he saw familiar people there and went to talk them. During meeting he learned that Mochi Ko, really close and important friend of Jerciex, has died due illness. He didn't believe it first. Then one of the auras in group handed-over a letter and Mochi's notebook with notes, drawings of her studies and Jerciex. He recognized right away that notebook belonged to Mochi, that's when he realized she really passed away. He took it heavily and burst into tears, embracing the letter and the notebook. It took moment for him to collected himself. Once he was back to his feet he left tavern to be alone, mourn lose of dear friend and read letter she wrote. In the letter Mochi told how she loved and adored him. The Letter had also contained details about her illness and how she managed to hide it from others, even from Jerciex. There was a small description about time they spent together and how everyday was bless to her. She also mentioned about Asmodeus Oronir, who brought in sad news about Mochi. Asmodeus is Mochi's classmate and like brother to her. In her letter Mochi requested Jerciex to look after Asmodeus.
Jerciex feels guilty about her death, because he didn't notice anything was wrong with her even they were close and spending time together. This made him doubt his skills as medic. He disappeared for while, but good friend found him.

Broken relationships

He talked with Raime and this helped him to move ahead. During discussion he promised that he won't disappear again like he did and he would forgive himself. Later he met his friend, Rhaq'ir, and told him about Mochi. Raime took them to place qhere they could talk. During chat situation got heated and both of them were angry. During discussion Jerciex was angry and let his emotions take control and was still blaming himself. After argument Rhaq'ir and Jerciex went separated ways and Raime was gone. Jerciex got worried about Raime because she was injured and disappeared without word. He tried to find her near camp and thought she returned to Ul'dah, so he went to Ul'dah. After waiting day in Quicksand and drinking to his sorrow, he decide to go look her in Thanalan, but nothing. During search he remembered what he said to Rhaq in spur of moment and promise was broken. Now he he was upset to himself and wanted to punish himself. He wants to find Raime as soon as possible and apologize her and explain his actionHe don't have any clues how to find her. He wants to clear air with Rhaq'ir because he is good friend and he doesnt want loose good friend. It has been only three days and he has lost three important person in his life.
Fixing broken relationships
Jerciex contacted Rhaq'ir in order to fix their friendship. They met in Fallgourd Falls and talked about situation. During discussion they settled their disagreement and became friends again. Rhaq'ir told Jerciex that he will help him to become better man, so he won't do same mistakes again. Jerciex is going to put all he has to fix mistakes he has made. He has decided that he must success on this or his is worthless. After training with Rhaq'ir, moment of truth came and he had chance to prove he has changed. Raime and her friend came to talk with Jerciex. Jerciex was surprised about friend's presence and it confused him. They talked while and Jerciex managed to prove there has been change, but only small changes. They agreed to leave this incident behind and advance. Jerciex wasn't too happy about his performance. He is grateful for all work Rhaq'ir has done to him and he won't forget this. He thinks Rhaq'ir is someone he can truly trust. When it comes to Raime, Jerciex thinks he has hurt her already too much and he doesn't want hurt her anymore. He wishes they can be close friends again in future.
Back to everyday life
After solving all disagreements and conflicts, Jerciex was able to return to his everyday duties: paperworks for company and Adders, also returned to patrolling in Twelveswood. He was able to let go of his past and continue his peaceful life without worries. All previous events have changed him inside and his closest friends have notices something has changed. Some of them are happy about change while someones are worried about this. "It this same Jerciex we knew? He looks same, but there is something odd." Even he has been able to leave his past behind and go forward, he is still looking into his heart and find way to become better.
Departing to journey

Jerciex is about start start new

chapter in his life and leave Gridania for while and join to journey. He talked with his new acquaintance, Eratoile Veridique, in Canopy and learned she is going to journey. During their talk she meantioned Conjurers' guild required that she has to take Serpent with her to journey. Jerciex got interested about journey and suggested himself for the job. That way she wouldn't have to travel with random person and Jerciex could be able to see more Eorzea and learn new things. They agreed to meet in the morning at Nest and they did. Jerciex was little bit too early there, so he spent his extra time to maintenance his equipment. When Eratoile arrived there, they started their journey with tea and picking up Eratoile's chocobo from Bentbranch Meadows' stables. After picking up Chocobo they went to Fallgroud Float and rested there over night.

Arrival to Coerthas, the first time after Calamity.
Coerthas wasn't green like it was last time when Jerciex visited there. Frost and snow made Jerciex little bit uneasy, but the same time he admired beauty of snow and mountains. Frost made Jerciex left ear itchy, because of old injury which made it sensitive to cold. They went to observatorium and local inn to rest. At the inn they talked a lot. After spending night at inn they continued their journey to Dragonhead where they seeked place to rest. They found inn in Dragonhead, but before they were able to settle in, friends of the Jerciex, Rex and Lhiah were there. They talked and Jerciex learned some of Maelstrom supplies has been stolen in area, while Eratoile got some documents from Dragonhead. Jerciex agreed to help them and they went to look for supplies. Eratoile agreed to help them. They explored gullies and cave nearby. They were filled with voidsents. They fought their way through caves, but no sign of supplies. After while they sneaked into ixali camp nearby and supplies were found. Supplies were delivered to Dragonhead and group parted to their own ways. Jerciex and Eratoile returned to inn, but only to find out that they weren't welcome there and were thrown out for no reason. Instead resting they headed to Whitebrim and seek place from local medical bay, where they took shelter from blizzard.
Couple days in Whitebrim
During their stay in Whitebrim, Jerciex contacted one of his friend who was knight in Ishgard and requested meeting, so they can discuss about getting access to Ishgard. With help of knight it would be easier. After couple days paperwork was done and they were ready to access Ishgard. With help of Sarnei, they left Whitebrim and went to Ishgard.

Personality

Jerciex has 'hero complex' that makes him willing to help people in the trouble. If he sees someone wounded, he doesn't care who this person is, first he tends wounds and then he might asks questions. He is often too serious and tends to lack a sense of humor. He also gets easily frustrated or angry if someone makes fun of him or someone else. He can be also really obvious sometimes when he gets nervous.
Jerciex has thing for simple pleasures and he is easy to please, if you know what he likes. Nature has been always interested Jerciex and he finds always something that might interest him when he goes somewhere new place. It doesn't matter if it forest or desert.
Jerciex respects life and he doesn't accept killing, unless it serves greater good or it is to protect weak and innocent. He uses force and violence as a last resort. He has killed in Battle of Carteneau. Every time he takes someone's life, he takes it seriously and feels guilty.

Khuma Deshtal:This man is crazy. He talks to his spear.. It even has name. Clearly crazy. Jerciex was forced to talk him in Canopy and he agreed to do this, so he can make sure there won't be any trouble. Jerciex was forced to swallow his pride when talked to this man and spear.
Orphieus Night: Everything Jerciex hates is in this man, ill-manners, bully, mercenary, pirate and relies on violence.
Austurmax Laforet: Khojin's master, who teaches Khojin thaumaturgy. When Jerciex and Khojin were recovering from avalanche, he showed up to Free company and demanded Khojin to return. Jerciex didn't like how he treated Khojin and demanded her to return even she wasn't fully recovered. Jerciex thinks something is wrong with this man.
