Character

General

Jin'sae usually seems like a simple, shy young Miqo'te until others get to better know him. Very few are aware of his goals but most can spy him seemingly speaking tohimself at times. He's almost never seen without his cait sith doll either at his side or within his possession. The doll itself seems strangely alive and he is overly protective of it. Despite appearing innocent and vulnerable, Jin'sae involes himself with a variey of mercenary groups -- the dirtier they play, the better. Any who have paid his movements mind would likely realize he is making many contacts with dangerous people and seems to be doing so in search for something other than mere gil as he's rarely seen receiving any in payment for his work.

Appearance

  • Stature: Relatively small in size, especially for a male. His age is a major factor in this, being only 15-years-old.
  • Skin: Grey-ish violet or very pale lavender
  • Hair: Purple and fades to a dark turquoise before fading into white at the tips. He usually wears some of his hair up in a small ponytail at the top of his head, towards the back.
  • Eyes: Pale blue
  • Tail: Extremely long, purple with turquoise tip
  • Markings: On his forehead, he has a black tear-drop shaped marking. The skin around his eyes are painted dull white with sharp pointed designs.

Behavior

  • Seems relatively innocent overall.
  • Playful, mischievous nature can sometimes lead him into trouble.
  • Difficult to anger, but has been known to raise his voice when his patience does at last wear out (extremely rare).
  • Has a very wide and sporadic range of emotions.
  • Cries when he is overwhelmed.
  • Very dedicated towards Ree. Will do anything to aid him.

Tendencies

Likes

  • Sweets, his favorite being chocolates
  • Playing games, especially Tetra Master
  • Sandy, dry places
  • Learning new things

Dislikes

  • Water
  • Being ignored
  • Cowards
  • Being seen as a bad person

Hobbies/Talents

  • Playing chase and Tetra Master
  • Stealing from others
  • Prodigy at using black magic
  • Seemingly unintentional manipulation of others

History/Timeline

Tribe Life

Jin'sae formerly belonged to a very quiet and solitary group of Miqo'te Keepers of the Moon. In their particular tribe, males hold very little value beyond whatever skills they bring to the tribe. The females are usually the movers and shakers of the tribe. The attitude of the tribe-members in general is very cold and indifferent, especially towards outsiders. The exception in their case is that they periodically do trade with outsiders for things they are in need of. The usual policy is that they trade for the necessary with the unnecessary or the excess. In Jin'sae's case, he as a fourth son was considered such an item to bargain with.

There is another reason why Jin'sae's tribe was more than willing to part with him. The stars and Menphina herself wrote an ominous warning the night he was born. This message led to the mark on his forehead along with a name "Sij'a", meaning first son of destruction. Unlike his brother's, Jin'sae was not allowed to have his name until after he left his tribe.

The Ascian, Ree Von'tempski

Jin'sae was traded from his tribe in exchange for a relatively small amount of medicine given by a man with a scarred face, robed in black. For a time Jin'sae was used as a vessel for that man, an Ascian by the name of Ree Von'tempski.

Ree is not what one would normally think of when imagining one of the Bringers of Chaos. His role within the cult was to study the people and races of Eorzea. Due to this, he has more human inclinations than the others and decides to keep Jin'sae at his side rather than dispose of him. His reasoning to the rest of the cult is that Jin'sae is still a valuable asset -- one they can only continue to benefit from. He is also the reason Jin'sae refers to himself in proper naming rather than the title, Sij'a, he had been given by his tribe.

Teacher and more, X'aqi Tia

Jin'sae befriended X'aqi Tia in his usual way -- a game of chase. The difference was that he was the one being chased by a hungry Aqi who teasingly (or maybe not)threatened to eat Jin'sae's pets.. and him! Jin'sae didn't really think much of the guy at first. He didn't seem too impressive. He was always teasing him as well which made him even harder to like. But a brush with Ifrit sent Aqi running to the rescue. The two have, since then, been inseparable. X'aqi tends to seem like a sort of mentor towards Jin'sae and is usually left explaining many things to the previously very sheltered boy.

Sacrifice

The 'happy' situation concerning the cult did not last. Eventually the Ascians called a meeting concerning Jin'sae. Their decision? He was no longer of any use to their plans. It was time to dispose of Ree's 'play-thing'. Ree refused to accept their decision and the cult attempted to eradicate him as well as Jin'sae then and there. He escaped, but the damage he sustained destroyed his physical form. Jin'sae's quick thinking preserved his life by encasing his energy within a dark crystal inside his Cait Sith doll's body. From then on, Ree has been trapped inside in a vulnerable, weakened state. Jin'sae has tried to restore his energy by feeding Ree his own, nearly killing himself in the process.

Since Jin'sae has fallen ill, thaumaturges have been found dead, drained of their lives and energies in a fashion similar to that of Cocobusi during his possession by the voidsent, Mormo. The truth is that Jin'sae has been luring in 'corrupt' thaumaturges such as lunatics, cultists, and other 'filth' and draining them of their powers in an attempt to continue to sustain Ree's life within the doll.

The Search

Currently, Jin'sae is searching for an alternate way to aid Ree. He hopes to find an artifact or elixir that could restore Ree's powers enough for the Ascian to regain his physical form again. For this reason, Jin'sae has involved himself with many shady characters in order to keep on the lookout for any promising information.

Relationships

Family

Jin'sae almost never speaks of his birth-family. The one time he has been asked about them, he has coldly answered, "They're dead to me." However, he does have a rather large number of brothers (especially for Miqo'te families). He is the youngest son, but also has two older sisters as well. He has not seen or heard from his tribe since having left them.

He counts Ree and Niitsu as his family instead.

  • Ree Von'Tempski: Ascian who lured Jin'sae from his tribe and became a sort of father-figure for him ever since.
  • Niitsu: servant under Ree's rule. Jin'sae's guardian.

Friends

  • X'aqi Tia: Male Seeker Miqo'te of the Lynx tribe who tries to look after Jin'sae Hara. The two seem to share a much deeper bond than simple friends as they're often seen together.
  • Eskri Dibujo: Female Keeper Miqo'te who met Jin'sae when he first arrived in Gridania. One of the few he calls "good chaser."
  • Cythe Sundowner: Male Miqo'te who has won over Jin'sae's love due to his cooking skills (he made him pie!)
  • Owen Sterner: Male Midlander Hyur who Jin'sae enjoys speaking with due to his knowledge of foreign places and things.

Enemies

Jin'sae does not currently have any PC enemies. However, there are many opportunities for this to happen:

  • He has a growing tendency to steal.
  • He once conned adventurers out of their chocobo.
  • People looking into the thaumaturge-murders could track him down.
  • Ascians are looking to kill both Jin'sae and Ree.

Rumors

Common Rumors

  • He is constantly on the lookout for mercenary-type contacts.
  • He is obsessed with the card game, Tetra Master.
  • It is well-known that he has a love for sweets.

Moderate Rumors

  • He has spoken a bit too publicly on a few occasions about his interest in hunting thaumaturges (again, emphasis on only 'bad ones')

Rare Rumors

  • He has a particular interest in rare artifacts and magic amplifiers. (he has only made this known to few others, mainly employers who handle such things)
  • For his age, he is a bit of a prodigy in the destructive arts. (not common knowledge due to the fact that he rarely showcases his abilities in public)
  • Jin'sae's tribe is not very well-known. Their culture and ways vary from that of the traditional Moon Keeper. However, for those aware of their language and ways, they would be able to recognize the mark of ill omen tattooed onto Jin'sae's forehead. They would also know of a very special skill that tribe is known for: manipulating crystals
