Character Information

He was swimming in a sea of other people’s expectations. Men had drowned in seas like that.

Leonaux Delavionne is a character primarily developed for me to escape my comfort zone by playing the part of an Ishgardian minor noble, a character created to adapt to a world full of adventurers who would promise an unknown world to a man once bound to an isolated city-state. My aim is for Leonaux to discover his newly found identity during the political reform within Ishgard, and to build upon that as a foundation to create immersive and progressive roleplay. Leonaux is no great hero, nor does he stand out from the crowd due to some otherworldly force. The journey that Leonaux ventures upon is one of faith, family and consequence, a test of his person after becoming a victim of the tyranny from a corrupt theocracy. To me, he is a testament to a life touched by death and false promises, but it is his determination and his loyalty to his family and friends which may one day pave the way for Leonaux to one day live a normal life.

In conclusion, His story is one of growth and acceptance, a state of mind that can be influenced by the direction of any roleplay he is exposed too.

Family is everything.

Appearance

Initial Impression
Standing just a little over 7 fulms, Leonaux places himself amongst some of the taller elezens by wildwood standards. He sports a wiry build, much like the rest of his own kin. Notable attributes at first glance would be broader shoulders than the average elezen male and a disciplined body that is a host for a plethora of old battle wounds and scars from beasts and man alike. His eyes glimmer with a stormy tint of midnight blue, faintly shaded by his long obsidian black hair. Add to that a rather warming demeanour and smile that fails to touch an inquiring gaze, Leonaux comes across as a man that tends to entertain a level of curiosity.
Presentation & Attire
Leonaux favours a mix of casual yet functional clothing, or indulging his taste for higher quality silks and linen when visiting his home in Ishgard and apartment at the Lavender Beds. Leonaux’s more casual attire lends itself to comfort within all the city states of the grand alliance, although Leonaux has always struggled to grow accustomed with the arid weather of Ul’dah. He always aims for his attire to give way to an Ishgardian flair, believing he looks his best when wearing clothes that speak of his origin.

Personality

Mentality
A man who is bold with no shame and confident to the point of ignorance, Leonaux is all too familiar to wearing a rather stoic mask that can come across as off-putting to those of a shy disposition. Despite his initial first impression towards those he meets, it is his curiosity that fills his words and remains a constant prominent feature, sometimes paired with a rather friendly, yet warming demeanour towards those that share a similar trait. Given that he was raised by minor nobility, Leonaux carries a large heart for the common folk, preferring to walk beside them as to standing above them. Those that get to know him would discover the soul of a generous and cheerful man, the stoic mask put to one side to reveal a man willing to put his life on the line for friends and family.
Voice
With a voice that holds a slight bass, yet adds to a noble’s inherent tone. He speaks with a conserved confidence with a light chuckle that can be deemed warm and gentle. A touch of experience carries over in his words, and his somewhat amused tone can sometimes makes the listener wonder if the answer they received was for the question they asked.

History

The Early Days
Th' sea always be callin' t' me

Born to Guolund Sterrsthalsyn and Himalzant Zwynhaerzwyn, Waenbraena Guolundwyn was blessed with the loving attention of a small family whom prided themselves on three things: Fishing, Fighting and being Lominsan. While growing up, Guolund had given much of his time in service to Limsa, bringing home many a grand (and unsurprisingly flamboyant) stories that first ignited Waenbraenas desire for adventure. It was these stories, stories of great tales that secured a strong and loving bond between daughter and father on the plentiful fishing trips they shared together. Over time, her father bestowed the passion of service upon Waenbraena, to whom laid her eyes upon the marauder’s guild at her first opportune moment after reaching the required age to serve.

Despite Guolunds influence over his daughter, it was her mother, Himalzant that supported her through the arduous training of becoming a Marauder, Guolund having earned himself greater responsibilies having risen through the ranks of the Maelstrom, watched from afar as reports of his daughter showed great potential. It was the woman’s innate talent with the axe and giantlike appearance that earned Waenbraena a nickname amongst friends as “Lady Fury”, a name she didn’t mind as much, given that her comrades also announced her as a champion during their many tavern crawls (and brawls) throughout the nights in Limsa Lominsa.

Lady Fury and the Storm
I be givin' it me all fer Limsa.

It was due to Waenbraenas boisterous attitude and sure-headed confidence that eventually awoke her latent talents to lead amongst the men and women she bonded with during her time in the guild. They earned the unofficial name that labeled her small group as “The Lominsan Furies” as they continued to deliver and exceed the expectations that was asked of them. She served Limsa dutifully, doing what was asked of her, yet having a biased preference to spending as much time upon the navy vessels of the Limsan navy. She found herself more at home upon the deck of a ship, than under the thatched roofing of the land-based homesteads. Success after success began to feed her pride, pride that eventually overwhelmed Waenbraena and her group of Marauders, pride that was to ultimately lead to her downfall.

It was an ominous mission to a nearby island upon a galleon known as the Lominsan Tempest that Waenbraena ventured, tasked with guarding the crew through contested waters as they travelled near the Garlean borders. Upon discovering the island, they stumbled upon a force of garleans whom the crew assumed was attempting to secure the island to close the gap between Garlemond and Limsa Lominsa. Given their arrival, The pride of the Lominsan Furies flared in their very being, believing that despite being outnumbered and outgunned that they could achieve victory. The battle became bloody and the Furies were right. They did achieve victory, but it was a fight that came at great cost for Waenbraena. Only two of her furies survived to enjoy what had become a tasteless win, yet amongst the dead was the plunder the Garleans had either salvaged or otherwise brought along with them. A cache of weaponry of curious design. It may have been spite on Waenbraenas and the remaining furies behalf when they opted to take their first share of the bounty, be it to honour their fallen dead or greed. Regardless, Waenbraena laid claim to a black steel, ominous looking axe with a red jewel caught in the jaws of a golden skull embedded into the weapon.

As the Galleon set sail back towards Limsa Lominsa to report their findings, the clouds began to bellow with a wrathful roar of thunder and rain. The struggle she had during the impending storm became a blank in Waenbraenas mind, her next memory of the event being washed ashore with various flotsom upon a nearby La Noscea beach. It is a memory that haunts her, for she never laid eyes upon her companions since that devastating day and reluctantly accepted the fact that they did not survive.

Current Day
After the storm, Much happened to Waenbraena that led to her leaving the Marauders guild and spending her time taking up mercenary contracts with the odd occasion of fighting beside low life privateers, brawling within taverns and pit fighting that proved her martial prowess did not rely only on her axe. It wasn’t until she decided to go out on a limb and join the Amber Alyssum in Gridania where the unexpected happened.

Her journey continues...

RP Info

Location & Probability
Places where the character is very likely to be seen
Limsa Lominsa and various habour towns in La Noscea: Normally spotted in taverns, pit fighting arenas and taking on jobs acquired from her current free company.
Twelveswood and Thanalon: Given the nature of her current role within the Amber Alyssum and priding herself as a Limsa citizen, any appearance made to these locations tend to be uncommon at most, although more leaning towards Ul'dah than Gridania.
Affiliations
Most of these aren’t public, and would have to be asked after!
Marauders Guild: Ex-Marauder.
Fishermans Guild: Girl likes to fish.
Adventurers Guild: The Drowning Wench.
Amber Alyssum: Current Free Company.
Various unsavory characters: Has been known to work beside rather shady characters due to recent events.
Roleplay Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. Longer plots that are meant to run for more than a few quick RP's, please feel free to send me a tell so we can work out a good reason for our characters to get to know one another. I'm always looking for RP, unless I'm actively spamming PvE content.

Pit Fighting: For those that may notice her fighting style and her rather obvious size over her opponents, she is never one to shy away from company.
Likes her drink: Seems to always welcome company after a few drinks, regardless of who it may be.
Always looking for work: Tends to be found always pulling at random jobs from the noticeboard in the adventurers guild.
Fishing: A common sight on the habour or in various well known fishing spots.

OOC Notes
Player Note
There is a lot of information on this character wiki, but it is by no means completely comprehensive. There are chunks of backstory that are left intentionally vague so that details can be later added as developed through creative writing or in role-play revelation. Feel free to use Common or Uncommon rumors freely, if you want to use a Rare Rumor as a plot hook or to spark RP, I would ask that you send me a tell first, to make certain it's alright.

Lore Adherence
Everything concerning this character that has not been confirmed by in-game lore should be taken with a grain of salt. Anything that has had to be changed because of lore shifting will be noted below.
