x. General

A stoic gladiator known only as 'Steelsong' to his associates and audiences alike. Even among the displaced soldiers and refugees of Pearl Lane, he remains an enigma. Most quietly assume an origin in Ala Mhigo—those who ask find no response. To Ul'dah, he is simply another scarred Highlander face to pass through the Coliseum's gates.

x. Appearance

Hulking, broad-faced and as emotionless as stone, Steelsong's lack of regular companionship never surprises anyone. The fighter towers above even his own countrymen and his densely-muscled body seems weathered and scarred beyond its relative youth. He has olive skin, dark hazel eyes and dark brown hair that he struggles to keep closely shorn; the uneven cut of his hair is the result of an attempt to trim it with the blade of his own sword.

Steelsong has never been willing to discuss his past with an Eorzean. He bears himself in a manner both in and out of The Coliseum that suggests a lifetime of discipline and violence.

x. Present

A Gladiator of No Promise

Steelsong spends his days perfecting his swordsmanship within the walls of the Gladiators' Guild. He passes his nights sleeping on a rag on the still-warm cobblestones of Pearl Lane. He fights well, but without flair and therefore holds very little clout as a gladiator. Lacking ambition and purpose in his work, he simply seems adrift in the violence of the everyday life he has chosen for himself. Perhaps he hopes only to lose himself in it.

x. Relationships

• [PC] Kamome Greywing - A Doman girl who is never far from Steelsong's thoughts. Memories of the night he met her continue to unsettle him to his core. He has done everything within his power to ensure her safety in Limsa Lominsa. However, he has not seen her in several moons' time and knows he cannot hope to see her again.

• [NPC] Landebert - Steelsong is often seen speaking with the Highlander refugee Landebert on the dusty streets of Pearl Lane, deep into the night. Their conversations seem to center on Ala Mhigan history. The men do not quite seem close, but certainly appear to have a great deal to discuss. Landebert can be heard calling the other man 'Maynard'—an alias Steelsong gave him in place of his true forename, Marcus.

• [PC] Rosalind Westwind - This eccentric merchant and scavenger works frequently with Landebert in his acquisition of abandoned goods. Steelsong appears ill at ease with her persistent questions. She has suggested he join Landebert as her occasional escort into the desert, but he has yet to take up the offer.
