Nanagi Nagi was born on the 14th Moon of the 4th Umbral Moon. She grew up in the great city of Ul’Dah. Her parents, like everyone else, wanted fortune; they wanted to ensure their only child would have a successful life. Sadly, they could never make enough gil to have a wealthy life. Because of this, Nanagi has always wanted gil, and no matter how much she has in her pocket, it’s never enough for her. She wishes to help people of Eorzea, but she feels as though help should come with some cost; therefore, she decided to live her life as a mercenary.

QUIRKS ■ Nanagi Doesn’t know how to swim. When near water, she shows an obvious discomfort ■ When stressed she tends to scratch her arms. In extreme cases, she scratches it raw ■ When drunk (which isn’t often) she tends to get clingy. In rare cases she’ll go from clingy, to sad or angry.

Appearance

Her eyes carry the same heterochromia trait that her father had. Her right eye is a deep green color. From a distance, it could be mistaken as black. Her left eye is as pitch black as the void. She has the same hair color her mother had, a beautiful violet with lavender highlights. From a distance, her highlights could been mistaken for white highlights. She always has part of her hair in braid, and the rest of her hair flowing in the back. Although she has lived in the desert all of her life, Nanagi is a bit paler than other dunesfolk. This could be because she spent most of her time in the shade, and hated being out in the sun for too long. She has very light freckles below her eyes, and on her cheekbones. Her ears are pointed, and are not too long, but not too short; about average.

He voice is soft, but a bit cute. When she is angry, her soft- toned voice sounds more like a “normal-toned” Miqo’te woman.

Personality/Behavior

Since she spent most of her youth staying hidden, she never had much social interaction with others. Therefore, she has a bit of a hard time talking to people, and she can’t seem to hold a conversation for very long. She isn’t usually the one to start a conversation, either. She is a bit shy, but she wishes she would have the guts to be more talkative, and extroverted. Talking to people isn’t as easy as killing Amalj’aa. Once she gets a better understanding of the person she is talking to, she begins to open up a bit. She talks a bit more and starts to ignore her shyness. Once she befriends someone, she will become very relaxed, and will talk to them more often. She doesn’t become afraid to start a conversation, or tell a little bit more about herself. Her personality when talking about mercenary work, however; is almost completely different. She acts as professional as she can, so she will leave a good impression, and more likely to be hired.

Biography

Past

Nanagi Nagi was born and raised in the great city Ul’dah. Her parents, like everyone else, wanted to make a fortune; they wanted wealth. Her parents spent most of their time creating jewelry, and selling everything they could. Nanagi wanted to do everything she could to help them, so she would often assist her parents in making jewelry. Sadly, no matter how hard they tried, what they made was never enough. They always faced the daunting fact that they would never have enough money to live the rich lifestyle. Although they knew this, they never gave up. They kept making jewelry until the day they died. While they were still alive, and Nanagi wasn’t assisting the family, she would explore all the parts of Ul’dah, staying out of sight. She never liked being center of attention; she was shy, and so she would explore and try to stay unnoticed. She would spend most of her time hiding in the Thaumaturge guild, for she thought it was the most beautiful, and amazing thing she had ever seen. Once the moon rose, Nanagi would return home, and mimic what she saw at the guild; she did this every day until she was 14. At age 14 her parents took her to the Thaumaturge guild, and asked if they would evaluate her, her parents wanted her to go on to do great things, and they saw this as her opportunity. After several hours of training and testing, the guildmaster saw potential in the young lalafell, and decided to have her join the the guild. Nanagi would spend the next 4 years going to the guild everyday to train. Once she turned 18, she was given her final test. It took her 2 days, but she passed. She was proud that she was able to master the art, and impress her parents. It was after she finished the test that she decided to use her power to help others; however, due to living in the life of poverty and never receiving help from others, she felt the need to make money. With this in mind, she thought the life of a mercenary would suit her best. A years later, one night while she was in Western Thanalan, she had received news of a caravan being attacked by Amalj'aa, the people who happened to be with the caravan were her parents, she left Western Thanalan immediately to investigate the scene. The caravan was destroyed, her father's dead body laid on top of small box of rings. Her mother's body was nowhere to be found. She gave her father a proper burial, and immediately afterwards, she went searching for her mother. She looked for weeks, but to no avail; her mother was assumed dead. From that day forward, she swore to Althyk that she kill every Amalj'aa that crossed her path.

She found a wanted poster for an assassin, the person was offering a large sum of money to anyone who could kill the women. She asked for Rihxo Matoi’s assistance, and Rihxo accompanied her. Once the killed the assassin in Southern Thanalan, they returned to Ul’dah for their pay. However once they received their pay, they were told that they would receive no credit for killing the assassin. No one will even know the details on how the assassin died. Nanagi didn’t mind not receiving credit.

She has been seen with a “strange” deck of cards. She has also been carrying around a strange book about stars. She has also been taking monthly trips for Ishgard. No one has seen what is inside of this book. People who have seen her or know her, know that she carries a staff and that she is a thaumaturge. This could be passed as just simple interest, Nanagi doing her usual research. Others may think it is something else; after all, astrologians are known for being in Ishgard.

Nanagi is currently suffering from injuries. After casting a powerful spell that she didn’t know how to cast properly, her aetheric energy levels dropped to deathly low. If it wasn’t for a Medic who happened to live in the forgotten springs, Nanagi would probably be dead. Although she has had time to recover, she is still relatively weak, and hasn’t been able to cast any magic. Even if she wanted to, she can’t because her special staff was stolen from her by Amalj’aa.
