Panther Pridewright is allegedly the bastard son born from a Garlean and a prostitute in La Noscea. He is sometimes also called Pan and, derogatorily, Chore Boy. He is reportedly a first rate chef who works at The Quicksand in Ul'dah, although few there have actually tasted his cooking and his true occupation there remains unknown, as he appears to be simply be doing random chores, getting yelled at by superiors, and constantly being punished for wildly unsuccessful flirtation with the guests. Despite his terrible luck and knack for getting into trouble, Panther is determined to make

Appearance

Panther is a young and slender Hyur, nearly six fulms tall, with dark brown shaggy hair and a scruffy chin. Despite his unkempt appearance, Panther insists on wearing clean clothes and regal clothes or drapes, claiming that it is "second nature" to him and something that he's done "ever since he was a child". Despite his reputation, Panther will sometimes show signs of surprisingly immaculate posture and grace when setting tables or handling food, although these moments are brief. There is scar on his left cheek that he is very touchy about.

Personality

Panther is known for not taking himself too seriously, but also having a flair for the needlessly dramatic and theatrical. On multiple occasions he has loudly sought the attention of beautiful Miqo'te women, even going so far as to propose to many in complicated and ostentatious ways even within sight of their lovers. Because of his quick temper and aloof attitude, Panther has often been at the epicenter of bar fights so hectic that Guards of the Immortal Flames have become involved. This has garnered him a very poor reputation with authority figures throughout the city.

Panther insists that he is a first rate chef despite very few, if any, customers ever having tried his cooking. Many can hear his cries for attention while he is waiting tables, washing dishes, or cleaning rooms of the inn, claiming that he is utterly unfit for any work besides cooking. Despite his reputation as a dirty degenerate, Panther actually has an immense fondness for all things fanciful and delicate. He can often be caught speaking how one day his lofty goals of being a prince will eventually come to fruition with hard work and fortune.

History

Born a bastard in La Noscea, Panther was raised by his mother whom he scarcely remembers along the lower docks. Because of their lowborn status as well as Panther being half Garlean, they were widely detested and isolated. When he was four cycles old, his mother sold him away to a traveling merchant from Ul'dah who promised that he would lead a better life at the city of coin. At this time, the mother impressed that his surname would be Pridewright, one of the only memories he has of her. While it's true that the city of coin discriminates less on status and moreso the contents of their purse, Panther's life growing up on the streets of the desert city was still hard fought. Between bouts of fighting, begging, and struggling to maintain just enough money to eat, Panther had developed a love for cooking fueled by his hunger-ridden childhood. Panther worked whatever odd jobs he could afford, his many merchant trips taking him across Eorzea, even as far as the Twelveswood, to sell goods and work as a chef.

Post Calamity

Following the Calamity that ushered in the Seventh Umbral Era, Panther has continued to work and salvage as much Gil as possible for a possible investigation into the whereabouts of his mother and father. Figuring that fighting in the future is an inevitability, he has been teaching himself how to fight and survive when the day comes that he travel to Garlemald and meet his father, where he still alive.

Aether Attunement and Combat

Because of his partly Garlean descent, Panther possesses a minuscule degree of aetherial manipulation, far less than the average Hyur, and is incredibly unwieldy when using magic. Supposedly, Panther has had to travel quite far in the past due to the immense amount of stress it takes for him to align with an Aetheryte Crystal. Panther first discovered latent Thaumaturgy in efforts to help him cook, resulting in a destroyed kitchen and the loss of his job. However, Panther has taken to use what little Conjury and Thaumaturgy he can muster, as well as his own self-taught swordplay, as a method of combat. With the arrival of Red Mages in Ul'dah, Panther has been especially interested in the art, but has not been professionally trained.

Given that his aetherial manipulation is spotty at best, even occasionally flat out refusing to function, Panther embraces his bloodline's use of Magitek to give himself just a fighting chance. His Magitek rapier, which he stole from a reserve at Revenant's Toll and since named "Hollow Toothpick", functions as a medium for the little reserves of Aether in his body and also a weapon in his own right.

Despite Panther's dedication to understanding magic and combat, his severely crippling Garlean blood as well as lack of formal training results in him losing almost every fight he picks... though not for lack of trying.
