Renatus sought freedom in Eorzea from the terrible experimentations done to him by the Empire's proto-Resonant project, the 'Ceruleum Knights'. Renatus is haunted by Aether that is not his, and stalked perpetually by the dark whispers of a shadowy presence in his very soul. Having found temporary respite, in the ranks of the Ceruleum Knights, he has 'defected' from the Empire with his burgeoning family in an attempt to find a better life for them free of the machinations of those who would seek to involve them in further inhumane experiments, to seek a cure for the Monster inside of him, and to find some measure of peace in a wartorn world... He sports characteristic white markings in his mid-length brown hair, a unique family trait. Dry and laconic in speech and fiercely private, Renatus seems torn between two worlds - the life of meaning and consequence he sought in the Empire, and a life of security and independence he found when he broke free. Enigmatic, powerful and haughtily stoic, Renatus makes no apologies for who he is- and takes umbrige when confronted with dishonesty or disingenuous living. Given his experiences in the military, Renatus has come to enjoy the variety of foods found across the world. Dislikes Attention. The more people look to him, the more expectation, the more complication. A quieter life would be better, despite his desires ultimately for glory, he would rather such glory come after his death. Aristocracy. Though Renatus made allies and even terse friends of the Garlean purebreed stock, their sense of entitlement to glory irked him deeply. Dishonesty. Liars cannot help but be tainted by their own poison, their personal potential and true self obfuscated behind clouds of deceit. Fears Loss of independence.
