"Rin, life is too short. See the world for what it is. Growing up, the life you've had to this day, is just a stepping stone to your one true path. Promise me one day you will leave Ul'dah, even just for a while. Find the power within, and the passionate fire that burns inside you"

- Renalt Yanasi, Second Lieutenant of the Immortal Flames.

Appearance and Personality

Rinis has always been adventurous, even as a wee child. He followed the coattails of his father, Renalt, and wanted to be apart of something big, like his father in the Immortal Flames.

On the coming of his 15th nameday, Rinis partook in knowledge passed down through the Yanasi clan. As per tradition, every Yanasi male was told to follow what their gut tells them, no matter the stakes. "We are small in stature, but never in namesake. As Yanasi, we make ourselves known to greater heights than size could ever measure." Rinis, adoring what his father was to him, lives under those very words.

Story

Rinis, whilst a child of the Calamity, suffered very little losses. The Yanasi clan were small and therefore the chances of loss were a fine line. Losing only his uncle, Veron Yanasi in the Calamity during the great war. Seeing the loss of others however, brought him up to appreciate his luck. Seeing those unfortunate, once a day during the rebuild after the Calamity, he would spend a few hours gathering the children who got the raw end, and take the time to make friends. Eventually, after this daily effort, many of the children would come together for the upcoming years to play together every day. The Calamity was over, and Rinis wanted to share his vision of a brighter future with the unfortunate, and orphaned children of Ul'Dah.

Slowly as the years passed, said children began to move on, whether it be away or taking up jobs in Ul'Dah to support their families during the financial crisis. Rinis, whilst upset about the changes, learned that he too one day would do the same, under his clan's famous words.

Come his 16th nameday, Rinis decided it was time to do his soul searching. More than recently he had been learning the fighting styles of the Monk whilst watching the disciples at the Pugilists guild train, and after learning just small techniques for self-defense, he knew he was ready to move on. With his father and mother's blessing, he set off on a journey to see the world.

1 year later, whilst discussing a letter he had received from his father over an ale in Gridania with some of the friends he had met on his adventures, he was approached by a soldier of the Twin Adder, bearing terrible news.

After leaving the table to discuss with the soldier, he knew immediately something was wrong. Memories of his uncle's death flooded back, and he grit his teeth for the worst.

"I'm sorry sire, we've been informed your father has fallen in battle. Your father fought bravely protecting Camp Drybone from an Amalj'aa attack. Judging by a letter that was found on his person, we had been told you were staying in Gridania a few days, and we decided to relay the message directly to you. Please accept our humblest apologies."

Without word, Rinis scuffled back to the table and addressed his leave to his friends. His best friend, his mentor, and most importantly his father, needed him back in his homeland.

Alas, Rinis returns to Ul'Dah to see his father off, and to seek training in the way of the Monk, in order to carry on the legacy his father left behind; a protector of people, and a man of greater heights.

Combat

Rinis is currently a disciple in the ways of the Monk. Despite following his clans traditions, combat is the exception. Whilst most Yanasi males were trained in the way of the Gladiator, he had decided to take a slightly different approach. He is the second of his clan to avoid taking up a sword, with the first being his great grandfather, Terin, who was trained in the ways of the lance.

Other Skills

The Yanasi clan have always been exceptional miners. When there is no battle afoot, the Yanasi clan are usually searching the high hills for gold, in which they can turn for a profit. The profit, however, usually is shared among the unfortunate homeless families in Ul'Dah to provide them all with meals they need to survive.
