General Information
Solis Basileus is a dock worker turned adventurer from Hingashi. Solis' full name is Solis Basileus Ejinn.
Seven hells, we've done it now!
Appearance
Hair & Eyes
Solis has light blue eyes with light green umbral rings inherited from his father. He keeps his light blond hair short, neat, and slicked to the side.
Physique & Markings
As a teenager Solis was very gangly and awkward but grew into his current muscular physique from years of hard labor and combat training from his father. Several rope burn scars and small stab wounds mar the dark brown skin of his body in several places, mostly on his arms and torso.
Hygiene & Attire
Solis is very mindful of the way he looks and smells. He would always take a quick bath at the nearby bathouse after work so he wouldn't "run around smelling like chocobo arse". He carries a little jar of homemade pomade made from beeswax, linseed oil, mint, and rose oil which he uses to style his hair.

Solis acquired a taste for well tailor clothing from his mother, who was an accomplished seamstress. He often tailors new clothing to better fit him and repairs any damage done himself. He wears a jinbei to bed that was sown by his mother for him before he left on his journey.

Personality
Psychological Profile
He has a very easygoing, flirty attitude with just about everyone but is especially playful with women. Despite his love of flirting, Solis becomes intensely shy if a woman responds positively or comes on to him. He assumes they don't take him seriously and is taken aback when he is.

While undertaking a dangerous job or in stressful situations Solis adopts a professional, somber persona which can be jarring to those who are used to his usual personality. He takes his jobs seriously and dislikes when colleagues make too light of a dangerous situation.

Voice
[Author: I imagine Solis having a mild, pleasant voice like that of Zachary Levi's voice for Arcade Gannon (Fallout New Vegas).] Having worked around so many different foreigners has tempered his Hingashi accent and it is practically unnoticeable. Solis is very fond of the way Lominsan sailors speak and will occasionally use phrases he learned from them.
Philosophy & Mannerisms
Solis' mother was very insistent on him learning proper etiquette as a child but only bothers using what he learned around 'proper' company. Solis has a habit of looking down his nose at people. He doesn't do it out of arrogance but from wanting to avoid a stiff neck from having to constantly look down to meet peoples' eyes. (He really appreciates Roegadyn for this reason.)

Fist Fighter: Having taken part in his share of tavern brawls, Solis can hold his own in a fist-fight. He has yet to pursue any formal training but J'karta has been insisting on him joining the Pugilist's Guild.
Knife Wielder: In extreme situations Solis can use the utility knife he always carries in his boot. As knife fighting is not his forte he hopes he will never have to use it.
OOC Note
In-game Solis will have have experience in skills and jobs he does not have canonically because I intend to have him as my main. If he decides to move into another job permanently then it will be noted here.

History
.
Disclaimer: Much of Solis' backstory wouldn't be known to the general public as he and his family were not really people of note. Please use common sense when planning to use part of his background and the manner in which you bring it up. He would be very much spooked if someone brought up a personal memory he hadn't told them about!
Sixth Astral Era
Childhood
Solis had a good childhood, if a little lonely from living on a small island with only his parents as company. To alleviate some of the loneliness, his mother would often take him to play at with his aunt who had three sons. The triplets, Erüül, Khüchtei, and Teneg, were three years older than him but always included Solis in their games (and mischief). O-haru eventually bought Solis a linkshell so he could speak to his cousins whenever he wished and they arranged their own little excursions.

His childhood was plagued with financial hardship because of his mother's frivolous spending but his parents made sure he never had an empty belly. The one good thing that came from his mother's irresponsible buying was having no shortage of books to read and learn from. He would have his parents teach him subjects like basic math, navigation, and any other subject that caught his fancy. Eventually he would help his mother learn healthy spending habits which made Solis a fiscally responsible young man, or a "bloody skinflint" as his cousins liked to call him. At age 15 Solis insisted on being allowed to work. Thanks to his cousins assuring his mother they would keep an eye on him and vouching for him to their boss, he was able to secure a job working the docks in Kugane.

Seventh Umbral Era
Adulthood
For Solis the Seventh Umbral Era was ushered in with stormy seas and empty ports. For several weeks the only ships that came to port were those from other regions of Othard and rumors of a massive catastrophe in Eorzea were abound. Details of the Calamity reached Solis through haggard refugees arriving in merchant ships filled to the brim with them or on barely sea-worthy vessels. Many of his countrymen were wary of the newcomers but Solis felt pity for them and would direct them to people who would be willing to help them.

Solis would come to meet his future best friend aboard one of the ships transporting refugees, a Mi'quote sailor by the name of J'karta Tveeq. After a bombastic first meeting at a dockside bar, the two would meet up often when she was in port or would send each other letters when she away. Her stories of being a sailor and of Eorzea made him realize just how much there was to see in the world. He would recount interesting tidbits from his conversations with J'karta to his parents, who would listen and smile fondly at his enthusiasm. Perhaps sensing that his son would one day want to travel the world, Nergüi began to teach him how to wield a lance.

In Recent Times
Moving Forward
After a fortunate run in with Captain Fontaine of The Titan's Fist, Solis was able to secure passage to Eorzea. He arrived in Limsa Lominsa and immediately made his way to Gridania as he had heard there was plenty of work for new adventurers. Immediately after arriving he joined the Gridanian Adventurer's Guild and spent the following 3 months doing jobs for the guild and the Wood Wailers. Soon after becoming a trusted adventurer, Solis began to make his way to the other major cities in hope of more work and new sights.

Family
Nergüi Ejinn, Father. ( ) - Xaela.
Nergüi is a Xaela of the river-dwelling Ejinn Clan and Solis' father. Once a dedicated hunter for his clan, he now resides on a small island off Kugane's coast with his Raen wife making a living as a part-time fisherman and runner for merchant ships. He was considered a fierce lancer as well and though he was well admired by those of his clan, many women were too intimidated to approach him. Nergüi met his would-be wife on a trip to Kugane to pick up an important package for one of the clan elders. He saw her arguing with a group of drunk louts and decided to intervene before anything serious happened. When O-haru went to thank him for his troubles he shyly refused and tried to leave to take care of the task he had been given. Intrigued by the contradiction of his serious persona and his shy behavior towards her, she invited (dragged) him to a restaurant so she could properly thank him for his help.

The pair became smitten with one another and after a year of courtship, Nergüi asked her father for her hand in marriage. It caused such an uproar among the family that O-haru was disowned that very night. Feeling guilty over what had transpired, he swore he would take care of her and her every need. It had been her idea to live on an island and he dutifully built a small house for her. Nergüi could never resist the whims of his wife, or those of his small son when he was born.

Nergüi was the one to pick Solis' first name. He followed his wife's Garlean theme and chose a name he hoped would bring his son good fortune in life.

O-Haru Ejinn, Mother. ( ) - Raen.
O-haru is Solis' Raen mother and was the daughter of an important bureaucrat in Kugane. She was disowned by her family when she insisted on marrying Solis' father. Unbeknownst to her, she had been promised to another Raen bureaucrat's son and that she would willingly marry a Xaela of unknown rank was disgraceful to her family. Having been brought up in a wealthy home, O-haru's dreamy and flighty nature would often put her new young famiy into financial trouble. Money which should have been saved was spent on pretty trinkets, books of all kinds, and fabrics to make impractical clothing.

Young Solis loved his mother but was resentful of her reckless spending and insensitivity towards his father's hardships. His resentfulness came to a head one day at age 8 when his sick father was forced to venture into stormy seas to work so he could pay for a new batch of jewelry purchases. Solis lost it, the resent and anger he felt at her came pouring out of him. He cried and screamed until his voice went hoarse, venting about all the times both she and Nergüi had gone without eating to scrape together a small meal for him. Solis angrily asked if she thought he was stupid, did she think he wouldn't notice how his father himself worked to the bone for them? O-Haru listened in tears and silence as Solis cried and talked himself to sleep. The next morning when Nergüi was still asleep she went up to Solis and begged for forgiveness. She vowed to overcome her spending addiction and asked him to help her keep her promise. The next year was tough for her and she had her occasional setbacks but with Solis' help she overcame her terrible spending habits.

O-Haru was the one who picked Solis' middle name. She had found it in an old Garlean book and insisted on the name when she found out she was pregnant with a boy.

Acquaintances
J'Karta Tveeq, Best Friend. ( ) - Seeker of the Sun, Third Mate of the Rowdy Maiden.
J'karta and Solis met at a bar after a particularly hard storm had made the work conditions for everyone working the dock difficult. Nerves were frayed and several scuffles had already taken place outside (the bar owner detested indoor fights and gave anyone who didn't obey her rules received a taste of her infamous right hook). J'karta was three tankards into her cups when she started badmouthing the crew that had unloaded her ship. Solis didn't pay her any mind until he realized the name of the ship they had worked on that day was the same as the ship she was crew of. They had nearly lost a man when the ship came loose from dock and the worker had tried to anchor the ship again. Angrily, Solis confronted J'karta and demanded she take back what she had said about his coworkers. J'karta refused and continued to mock the crew, too drunk and arrogant to care that a 7'1" Au Ra was angrily staring her down. Solis, in a furious drunken rage, grabbed her by the scruff of her shirt and threw her outside, bellowing a challenge to her: they would have a fist fight and the person who lost would apologize and pay for the other's drinks. J'karta readily agreed and the drunken pair readied themselves. The triplets, amused that Solis was the one starting the fights for once, shouted "Fight!" in unison and the two began to trade blows. What J'karta lacked in size and strength she more than made up in speed and skill as a practicing pugilist. Others became embroiled in the fight and soon the whole side-street was full of scrapping hooligans.

The city guardsmen soon arrived to break up the fights and J'karta and Solis were blamed for starting the whole thing. They were dragged, kicking and cursing, to the "drunk tank" were they would stay the night to cool off and pay for the damage they had caused in the morning. The pair sat in cells facing one another and after an hour of complete silence, they hesitantly began to make small talk. They apologized to one another and ended up talking until the morning when the guards had come to collect their fines. The two had bonded quickly during their time in their cells and promised to keep in regular contact with one another.

Erüül, Khüchtei, and Teneg Ejinn, First Cousins. ( ) - Xaela, Kogane Dockworkers.
Solis' Xaelan cousins and childhood best friends. Their mother is Nergüi's only sibling and is very close with Solis' mother. The triplets were adventurous and would take Solis along with them whenever they went exploring. Teneg, as the cleverest of the three, would find information on plants and local history on the places they would visit. Khüchtei and Erüül were rather weak and sickly children but made up for it with sheer tenacity. All three grew into strong young men and went to work in Kugane as dock workers so they could support their aging parents.

When it came time for Solis to find a job the triplets were more than glad to give their boss a glowing recommendation. When he came of age they would also take him to bars and taverns with them. The triplets, especially Erüül, always managed to get themselves involved in bar brawls in which Solis would exasperatedly have to get involved in as well.

Annette Fontaine, ( ) - Duskwight, Captain of the Titan's Fist.
Solis met Captain Fontaine when he turned 25 and was celebrating at a popular Kugane restaurant with his cousins. She sauntered right up to their table and took a seat, immediately ordering a drink for herself. After some initial confusion the group happily included her in their celebrations, after all it was rare that an elegant woman would give them the time of day. They drank and ate with gusto into the midnight hours with the captain telling absurd jokes and outrageous tales she swore were true. Solis hung on her every word and would occasionally interject with tidbits of gossip he had received in letters from J'karta.

As the night dwindled down and the restaurant prepared to close, the captain invited Solis back to her private quarters so they could "finish celebrating his birthday". Solis drunkenly followed suit, oblivious to the hoots and laughter of his cousins as they congratulated him for being deflowered by such a beautiful woman. They spent the night together, alternating between activities in bed and simply talking until morning. Annette had been quite pleased with his company and gave him a sealed letter to give to J'karta's captain the next time The Rowdy Maiden was in port. She escorted him off deck, gave him a wink and told him she looked forward to seeing him in Eorzea.

Solis didn't find out what the contents of the letter were until J'karta's ship arrived three weeks later. He presented the letter to her captain, curious as to what Captain Fontaine had meant with her comment and what the contents of the letter were. The Rowdy Maiden's Captain roared with laughter and slapped him on the back which sent him reeling in shock. "Got yerself in that ol' temptress' graces eh? She said 'ere to give ya passage ta Eorzea if ya want it, says it'll make us even. Well?! What do ya say, boy?!" he boomed. Solis, still in shock, sputtered out a "Yes!" before running back to his boat to head back home and tell his parents. Three days later Solis found himself on his way to Limsa Lominsa, working the deck and wondering what adventures lay ahead for him.

Former Acquaintances
Papalmo Giyalmo, ( ) - Dunesfolk, Trader for the Coerl's Claw Company.
Papalmo was a predatory Lalafell merchant that would often go out his way to entice Solis' mother into making large, extravagant purchases. He had known her when she was still part of her family and knew her preferences for fine clothes and jewels. When Solis began to help his mother overcome her shopping addiction, the first thing he made her promise was to avoid Papalmo at all costs.

RP Limits
I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. As I have yet to find my comfort zone when it comes to RPing you may feel free to ask for clarification for anything on the list. However if I tell you I will not RP something then it is an absolute no.
I will play casual RP, casual adventure groups, tavern settings
Ask about longer RPs, Light ERP, RPs with character driven storylines
I won't play ERP involving extreme fetishes, RP leading to character death
RP Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. I am not sure how well I'd do in RPs with long plots but I'd be willing to try if the right people are willing to help me through it. I'll usually have the RP icon up when I'm up for RPing but walk-ups are fine. If you're not sure you can always send a tell
■ Talking to fellow adventurers.
■ If I'm in or around the major taverns just sitting around and waiting.
