V'lraj Tia "The Black Coeurl of Raincatcher." About
Through rigorous training with the katana as well as other forms of martial arts, Keiji possesses a frame and stature suited for combat with lean, clearly defined muscles. Although nothing like that of one who uses large weapons, he is solidly built in his own right. Despite his experience in the way of the samurai, Keiji hasn't seen enough battles yet for his skin to be completely marred with scars, though there is one - a scar formed from a stab wound that pierces in just beneath the left ribcage, and one from the corresponding exit wound. Aside from this, he appears unmarred, save for the occasional scar here or there - nothing that stands out. As an Au Ra, his skin takes on a bluish, almost lavender, sheen to it, complimented by the purest white scales, which are testament to his status as nobility as well as the purity of his lineage. His raven black hair stands in stark contrast to his pale skin, strands of it falling annoyingly into his face, though most of it pulled back into a ponytail away from his shoulders. His features a hawkish, which striking blue eyes that were only a shade less pale than his skin. Combined with the slant of his brow, his visage makes him appear rather serious and regal in a way, especially as he rarely smiles in a way that shows no reservation. Normally, Keiji can be seen garbed in traditional wear for those of Othard or Koshu decent, as expected. He often prefers a mix of function, mobility, and aesthetics in the outfits he wears, some of which possessing of all three qualities at once. He wears little in the way of jewelry, except for a set of brown and black beads upon his right wrist. His hands are always banded for use of the katana he's always seen wearing at his side. The katana, for those who are attuned with the warrior spirit correctly, may be heard singing subtly, especially as the blade is drawn from its ornate scabbard.
Keiji is often seen as kind and reserved, abiding as close as he can to the eight virtues of Bushido. He's fiercely protective of those under his charge, family, and those whom he considers friends. Among those he doesn't know, he's often respectful, though usually quiet unless addressed. Currently, he's learning the Eorzean language, and, while having come a long ways in a short time, it still needs a little work yet. He will often try his best to speak in the common language of Eorzea over Doman, favoring learning the new language, even with those who can easily speak his home tongue. In the event he needs to fight, he's a tenacious warrior who tends to prefer meeting his opponents head on with swift and vicious attacks that shock and confuse his targets. Aside from his warrior aspect, he is also a crafter of some renown in Yanxia, particularly when it comes to Daisho for samurai. He specializes in sword sharpening and polishing, but he is still very familiar with the smelting and forging process as well. Keiji takes great pride in the art, and frowns upon anyone who seeks to discredit the process. He is open to other methods to make different kinds of swords, but is rather adamant about the crafting of Doman weaponry..
Keiji was the prince of a village settled upon the banks of the One River, not far from a forest many residents have come to know as the Jade Forest, close to the hidden kingdom of Sawa. It was a small village, and the palace was little exception, consisting of only a hommaru and ninomaru as its main fortified courts, rather than the three that larger palaces consisted of. Most of those of the royal bloodline in their clan lived within the hommaru where the main keep (tenshu) was situated. All others of the clan resided within the ninomaru (second court). The village lay mostly outside the main eastern gate, protected on two sides by the palace walls. Keiji's father, Higashikuni (Higa to some), resided over the palace and village as their Lord, and leader of the Genmaru clan. His father taught Keiji everything he knew about Bushido and was a kind Lord, often venturing outside the palace walls into the village to observe, sometimes speak with its residents. His mother, who died giving birth to Kagerou, was named Ikeda. Keiji was the only son, though had a younger sister, Kagerou; however, she died at a young age due to an unexplainable disease (possibly linked to a complication from birth). Keiji was the heir of the clan, destined to one day rule in his father's place. However, before that day could come to pass, the nation of Doma decided to overthrow the Imperial influence within Yanxia, an insurrection that, sadly, failed.
