Latest Activities (RP Hook): V'lyria is a recent addition to the faces that frequent the Quicksand in Ul'dah, purportedly staying there for the time being. She has made connections in the underground of society which spawns rumors and advertises for those of her skills, and it is no secret what she is capable of where martial skill with magick is concerned. The countenance of a chocolate-skinned Seeker with eyes of piercing crystal blue is rare enough to be called unique, and therefore, easily identified.
Overview

An honorable Seeker of dignified aspect with strong natural connections and a hidden agenda.

V'lyria is an elegant intellectual who keeps mostly aloof, while remaining civil. She is not world-savvy, having learned all from the teaching of clansmen, alongside the scrolls and books presented by Gridanian natives rather than through experience, but she knows her way around the battlefield well enough to make up for what her street cred lacks.

Appearance
Vlyria-Appearance.png

She is a gift of Hydaelyn's capricious bounty. Look at her.. V'lyria embodies the exotic savagery of the world, perfectly tempered with modest grace and predatory poise, always aloof, always barely out of touch with the people around her. Would that her parents could see her now. How like them would she look? From whom did she inherit her hair, darker than the hollow of a tree and layered with streaks of aetherial blue? Would it have been the Nunh that gave her the favor of supple skin dark as chocolate, unmarred by poverty or labor? Her Queen that granted her a diminutive figure, thick and full with feminine curves? Where she walks, the world sings an aria of joy, delighting as much in her presence as in the gift of water or air - otherworldly, apart. Mayhap her features are entirely her own, alien even to those who conceived her. Of a certainty, neither parent could have given her those eyes, piercing shards of blue ice that transcend mere sight to capture the souls of those who gaze upon them. That is a gift from the ice goddess herself. We have all been privileged to watch her grow into a magnificent daughter of the wilds; I only hope her looks do not separate her too far beyond those whom she will be associating with as she ventures out of the comfort of the Shroud to join the rest of the world. Spirits preserve her...

- Said of V'lyria by the clan's bard as she left to undertake the Rites of Adulthood

Notable Markings: There is a tattoo of a stylized Dragon at the base of her neck, often hidden by high-backed collars and her own hair.

Vocal Quality: A smoky timbre softens her voice, which has a bold accent with heavy, rolling Rs and broad intonation that adds an exotic spice to her words. The eloquent and often overstated manner in which she speaks suggests she does not converse often. ( Voice Claim: Dolya Gavanski )

Personality
Vlyria-Personality.png

Deeply traditional and honorable to a fault, this Seeker is. Her lust for knowledge is matched only by her love of practice, and in her heart, she is obsessed with magick. An upbringing sequestered in the mists of her clan's home in the Shroud did nothing for her social skills and everything for her mind: she learned to wield her birth-granted skills, learned to read and to write, and a host of other skills which serve her well. Lacking was her tutelage on interacting with other people. A book or an animal, she could master, but a person was another thing entirely. She is naive to the world's common 'street knowledge', and this more often than not leads her on troublesome (and even downright embarrassing) paths.

At her core, V'lyria is a noble spirit who simply has not been educated on the finer points of 'good' and 'evil'. Morally gray, potentially socially rude in her blunt honesty, and gullible, she is something of a walking contradiction, book-smart and street-dumb.

Story Rumors

  • Heresy or Trickery? - Legend whispers of children of Dravania who bear the mark of the Dragon, a stylized symbol burned, scarred, or inked into their flesh to forever signify their eternal allegiance to the scalekin. The fact that V'lyria has one such symbol carved into the back of her neck is probably entirely unrelated.

Common Rumors

  • "There was a whisper, then a soft breeze, and before I could so much as blink, this tiny spit of a woman had her fist buried halfway to my spine - and the jolt was like lightning! I don't care that I was trying to loot her camp while she was away, I am a victim of assault!" - Unsavory Vagrant
  • "She was nice 'nough, ah suppose. Not much fer talkin', but def'nitely had an ear ta listen. Even th' most modest aspects o' life seemed ta fascinate 'er, an' she listened ta ev'ry string o' dialogue traded by those travelin' with us. Ah only wonder just how much 'er head can hold." - Caravan Passenger

The Village in the Mists
AT-Home.png

A broken child torn from her family's breast at a tender age of youth by the razing flames of clan raiding, leaving behind a hollow where that sense of completion once so assuredly lay: it was not the first (or only) case of a harsh start to life that Hydaelyn saw. Fortune favored this orphan in refuge, for the clanfolk who found the runaway child were welcoming and nurturing despite the horrors she'd witnessed. The Black Shroud is a labyrinth of heavily forested groves and jungles unmapped, protected by the elemental keepers against those who would enter unwelcome; shrouded by mist where the Aether coalesced more strongly lay the village in which V'lyria was raised. The girl's connection to magic and nature was apparent from her first footfalls along the densely-packed dirt trails that wound between the buildings of her new home, for the trees thick with leaves and vines groaned in oaken approval, the wind that managed to worm its fingers through the foliage swirled with delight, and even the bioluminescent algae that clung to the loam skirting the roads sparked to life at her passing. In the years that developed her, she was schooled in her potential, taught to harness the power that innately sought her, and groomed in the ways of a wilds-witch. Among the village folk, she was seen as something of nobility, possessed of skill beyond that of any - save for the elder herself, who took an instant liking to the ice-eyed orphan from a now-dissolved clan. V'lyria's was a life of natural beauty, embracing the subtle thoughts of the world, communing with animals and the elements in ways others only dreamed of.

However, brought to a new clan and privy then to their customs, as she came of age, she was forced to leave that place of solitude and comfort among the trees. The elder, a gray-furred Tia by the name if V'lokha, presented her with a scroll upon which was written the task she would be required to complete before being allowed to return to the refuge: to find the great spirit spoken of in prophecy which was said to appear in its mortal shell on Eorzea. Now, seven years later, she is no closer to returning than she was the moment she set foot outside the confines of her village. Still, she is confident that she will one day fulfill the task set before her and count herself amongst the mature felines governing her village. This is what drives her, what stays hidden beneath the surface of the sellstaff's agenda; and those who are particularly sensitive to magic, or keenly observant of the numerous beads, gems and bleached bones counted among her adornments would be able to discern there is far more to the story than meets the eye.

Roleplay Style

• Amount of RP - Heavy, heavy, heavy! I love to RP often. My style is empathetic/malleable with paragraph tendencies, though I do know how to stay succinct in larger crowds.

• Goals and RP Restrictions - I want a story. Not just a little thing, but an actual story with many facets and more personalities! Something to remember fondly when it's over, and maybe even to build on as time goes on. There aren't really many elements I find disfavor with, though I will say that ERP with underage individuals (toon or player) is a definite no-no. Respect the law, yo.

• Views on RP Combat and Injuries - I enjoy combat when it is done with individuals who are mature and trustworthy enough to make it fun. Communication is top priority when it comes to any sort of interaction, but especially when taken to the fight scene. The only thing I am not looking to do is have my character outright killed; that being said, sustaining injuries on any side of the spectrum is not only accepted, it is expected! I don't want her pretty forever.

• Views on IC Romance - With the boundaries between IC and OOC in mind, romance is always great for a story as long as the characters mesh well, and it makes sense with said story. Communication between players is the single most important aspect of it to me. (And please keep in mind that I am happily taken in real life, so I am not seeking to make an IC romance turn OOC!)

• Views on Non-Romantic RP - Absolutely positive in my opinions on this front as far as social association is concerned. There is much potential for non-romantic relationships to have formed between V'lyria and other Doman refugees, from friendships to rivalries and everything in between! Outside of Miqo'te relations, she is always looking for more Eorzean locals to acquaint herself with. Hit me up if you'd like to chat about involvement in my story, and vice versa!

• Views on Lore - It's always important to follow the lore in whatever meta you find yourself in, if for no other reason than to add continuity to the immersion - while keeping in mind that creativity is ultimately what we are here to express. Personally, I adhere to standards as much as possible while making reasonable deviations/headcanons where I can!

• Views on Chat Functions - /say: V'lyria's engagement in IC dialogue. /emote: Actions, thoughts, and speech describing V'lyria's experiences in an IC capacity. /linkshell: None yet, so we will see! /party: OOC banter. /tell: Communication channel for OOC chatting/planning and private channel for IC whispering. /shout: OOC for now! /yell: Also OOC for now. /freecompany: None yet; another tentative!
